i really liked how they did it based on the book and the movie it was fun to see the shire and the local pub.
i thought the graphics could be alot better. rivendale was a rippoff because the water didnt move 3 demensional
they threw in random levels and charcters which i didnt like. i hated the fact their voices were not the actors in the movies. spoiled it. but it came very fast nd well packaged!! i would highly recommend this seller. just not the game. (oh nd there were glitches at the end)
Atlest the others were better

I enjoyed the gameplay enough for the first level or so, up until the part where you are supposed to sneak past the Black Rider outside of Sam's house. I spent a long time trying to do it but kept being instantly killed, no matter what I tried. This kind of difficulty can be justified if it has been worked up to, but here it's much too sharp of a drop off delivered way too soon. One minute you're rounding up cuddly lost farm animals for smiley Neighbor What's-His-Face and the next you're being mercilessly bludgeoned with the icy black hand of GAME OVER.
For my taste, the graphics and visual design are a bit cartoonish, but not bad by any means. The storytelling [of the game itself as differentiated from the source material] and general gameplay are acceptable too. However, none were amazing enough to justify enduring the frustration of an hour spent trying repeatedly to sneak past that irritating Black Rider. I sold my copy to a resale shop after a few weeks.
Great Game!

This game was sooo much fun. I can't beleive anybody thought this game was boring. I think it is better then the lotr games based on the movie because you don't just fight orcs and trolls,etc... the other games were fun but this game actually requires skill. This is not the game for you if you haven't red the books or sit around playing rpg shooter/fighter games all die. I played the PC version and it's got to be harder than the PS2 version.
*Help on dark riders: if the light shows on u they catch you, so stay out of their light hills or buildings are a good way. Avoid the road if there back is turned*
An awful game

Don't bother with this LOTR game from Vivendi. It was hastily done, poorly put together, and has no challenge what soever. It is the tamest of "go find the thing and come back here" games. Buyer beware. Even a die-hard LOTR fan, like me, shouldnt bother.

This games is so cool that I kept playing this game over and over and over and over again.Though it is based on the book it dose have most of the movie's plot.If you suck at reading and just play video games and watch movies all the time, then tis not a game for you.Just to tell you people the Ring Wraiths are not as hard to get past exept the first one.Everything else is so easy from the game.So before you get this game read the book first to know what to do and what will come next.ENJOY!
Great for Tolkien fans

Objectively examined in light of gaming principles this game leaves a great deal to be desired. But looked at as a fan of JRRT as well as a gamer I am compelled to give FOTR a 5 star rating. The graphics (which require a 128 meg card for full expression) are a gorgeous representation of middle earth, especially the Shire. The most enjoyable aspect of the game is not gameplay but rather the music and mood and walking around the Shire. Later games in this series feature more action and swordplay but FOTR more truly captures the world feel of JRRT's creation. This game is more suited to lovers of the book than fans of the movie and perhaps should be played more in the spirit of a renactment than an open-ended adventure.

I made a terrible mistake and bought this game for $49.99 the day it came out. If I waited a month (which I wished I did) I could've bought it for $20. This has to be by far one of the worst games I ever played. Needless to say I played it for about 45 minutes and quit, I never played it again. I thought it was boring, graphics and movement were terrible. Honestly if someone gave me this game for free I wouldn't take it. I love the books, all 3 movies were great, this game shouldn't exist. I wasn't too impressed with the other Lord of the Rings Games either but this one is definately the worst out of all. Try to avoid this one at all cost.
easy if you have good coardination!

Ok the two towers and return of the king were games where you wasent solve anything just wars but the fellowship is amazing you get problems to solve and every detail is like in the book the music is really beutiful in the shire and it gets darker the more you progress like the atitude of the enviroment. The ringwraithes in the game are hard to get past you have to have keen eyes like me if you are going to get past the one on the bridge. The reviewer (Ian) was right the wargs do look like overgrown rats and overgrown skinny rats too.there are only a few properly designed wards in this game the ones in the shire and the ones in buckland dont forget the place where you meet tom boombadil and goldberry. If youv read the books you get pretty far on this game but if you havent you are going to have a tough time. The only complained I have is that I was expecting to play as the entire fellowship and that intro at the top is wrong you dont play as legolas in this game. and hes my favorite character. And frodo is the only character that can jump over all a good game.
Hmmm....

It's hard to say how good this game is. I'm stuck on the part where you have to sneak past the Black Riders, which is about 10 minutes into the game! It's so hard b/c they kill you and you have to start over!!! *cries*
But I think the game will get better once I can get past that part:)
