I don't see why it is so hard for other people to get past the ring-wraiths at the first part of the game. I got past them on my first try. If you can't get past that part then go out and buy the strategy guide. "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" PS2 game is very cool! The characters you play as are awsome! And the orcs, trolls, huge spiders, etc are fun to fight. "The Fellowship of the Ring" is an incredible game!

I'm a big fan of these movies and it's great to see a game that plays and looks so well. I beat the game and let me just say I had a wonderful time!!! What's cool is the characters. Being able to play Aragorn, Gandalf and Frodo is so awesome. It's been a while since I read the books, but the game is pretty close to the book. What was strange was Tom Bombadil and the tree level, but, nevertheless, it was great!! The music and the effects are just awesome!! I haven't been this excited about a movie and all it's licensed products since Star Wars!!! I'm currently playing "Two Towers", and that is a flawless game. People I've heard say that they didn't like the Fellowship of the Ring much as they did the Two Towers, but let me say that they are different in gameplay and shouldn't really be compared. Fellowship is adventure based. Two Towers is action based. Both have great stories, beautiful graphics and sound. Buy this one and then move onto the next. I understand they're going to make a "Hobbit" game. This is, of course, the prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And in an era of prequels, I hope Hollywood decides to follow suit and make a movie based on the "Hobbit". In contrast, the Hobbit has a whole lot of various creatures then the Lord of the Rings. You have Gollum, Trolls, Wargs, Goblins, Elves, WoodElves, Spiders, Giant Eagles, and of course Smaug the Dragon!!! I'd love to both see the movie and play the game!! So, if you don't own the "Fellowship of the Ring", buy it. It's worth the money.
Buy This Game! It Is So Cool!

Universal Interactives Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring PS2 game is so awsome! You get to play as Frodo, Aragorn, and Gandalf. Frodo is very good at distracting his enemies by throwing rocks and he is very good at using stealth to hide from them (he is especially good at these skills by using them on the dark riders). Aragorn is awsome at fighting because he has very good fighting skills and a very cool sword. Gandalf is incredible when he uses spells to throw down his enemies. Don't listen to people who say that this game is short and EA's Lord of the Rings: Two Towers game is better. Universal Interactives Fellowship of the Ring is longer than EA's Two Towers and has more fun and better gameplay in it. Anyway, this game is very cool! Killing enemies like orcs, trolls, and huge spiders is very fun! You should buy Universal Interactives Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring game for the PS2. It rocks!
One word... Disappointing

This game is not very good. The graphics are cheesy, the voices of original actors aren't there like in Two Towers. The plot is dumb. A whole bunch of loading just within one level. And you get unlimited ammo, so it's not challenging at that aspect. I played this at my friend's house 'cause I thought about buying it. DON'T WASTE YOUR $20 ON THIS! Rent it maybe. The only cool things are 1: You can wear The Ring, and 2: You can be Gandalf. Get the Two Towers instead, you play part of the Fellowship on that one anyway!
Great Game

I just got a preview copy of this game and it is great. The characters look terrific for the PS2 and the combat system is awesome.
Gandalf is by far the coolest character to play.
The combat in this version vs the Xbox version is way better; its more cooler looking and more fun.
This is a great game!
Really Bad!!!!!!!

I hate this game. The only reason I have it is because when I bought a Spyro game it was free. I played it probably 8 times before I found out its was boring and impossible to beat. I have never been a fan of Lord of the Ring but i thoght the game would be ok. I was wrong. It was horrible. I have never played it in over 1 year. Even if you are a big fan of Lord of the Rings I think your going to find this game boring and stupid.
Please tell me if my reveiw was helpful or not.

First off, I give this game 5, yet say that there are better games out there, because this game is very good. There are over 80 games for the PS2. Once in a while you come across one that is beathtaking, but for everyday game play, this is great!
It starts off kind of slow and there isn't a lot of fighting but it is challenging after that. The fight scenes are excellent and the graphics are good. If you don't feel like reading the books, play this game because it is more based on the books than the movies. I would say The Two Towers and The Return of the King are better, but like I said, for everyday game play, this game is pretty damn good.
Not too bad, not like the other LOTR games though.

I bought this thinking it was going to be similar to the Two Towers as they came out around the same time. For those of you who expect something similar, think again.
This game is much more book based than movie based and I think it's better than the Two Towers & Return of the King in some things. For one, it's more of a hunt than missions. You don't upgrade or have to fight for points, keep you and Frodo alive, how hard is that? Two, it does follow the book more, you meet Tom Bombadil and go through the Barrows Downs and through the Whithy Windle Path and meet Old Man Willow. Very good points for the book Jackson left out. You play as either Frodo, Gandalf of Aragorn and if other characters from the Fellowship are around you, they'll kill stuff for you while you stand back and relax. Just hide so bad guys don't see you. I found it funny to watch them do all the work sometimes.
On the other hand, this game doesn't have the cool effects, actor voice-overs nor do many of the characters look like the actors did. So if you like that from Two Towers, etc, you won't like that about this. Targeting Aragorn's arrows, Frodo's rocks or Gandalf's magic can be a pain though, taking the time to do so can get you killed. The Hobbits main paths are maze like to they can be annoying with a map. Oh! And another thing, Amazon says Legolas is a playable character in this game, he's not. Sorry all you Legolas lovin' fans, he's occasionally helpful backdrop.
All in all, the game is good for a Tolkien fan or plain old Lord of the Rings fan who can get over it not being like the movie. If you're a video game fan looking for action and a game that'll test you, this ain't what you're looking for. Anyone can beat this game in under 6 hours and figure out patterns in enemies fighting styles quickly. Camera angles aren't bad as long as you know how to use your controller, nothing will kill you if you listen and pay attention to the little red indicator dot in the corner.
Before you buy this, go out and rent it. Give it a go for 30 mins, you'll either love it or hate it.
