this game starts out ok, then later becomes plain stupid. no plot at all, you don't know why you need to do this, why you have to go there, where should you go next. sure the action is fun until you face the annoying cat-like shadow creatures. i was literally wishing death to whoever designed these enemy while i was battling them. there are also secret missions which are nearly impossible to do. did they even test this game before they released it? don't buy this crap, get onimusha 2 or 3 instead.
Not even worth a rent

This game is unpleasant to look at, and awkward to play. The movement of the main character Dante is so clumsy. Every time the camera angle changes, you have to change the direction you are pushing on the controller. Also, the perspective on the character is changing so much, it is impossible to guage where you are, or what your surroundings contain. This game looks like PS1 graphics at best, but it is no fun at all. I knew it was no good within 5 minutes. Don't bother.

Good challenging action, but the pathetic backstory is, well, pathetic! The love story is hackneyed and boring. If they had left that all out, I would have rated it higher and enjoyed it a lot more. This game was clearly made with a single demographic in mind; the "let's fantasize about the female character's overly large you-know-whats" demographic.
Just OK

The movie intro suggests a better game than it really is. The music is good on a surround sound system.
Pros - the sound quality is good, the medival essence with swords and socery, and you never run out of ammo.
Cons - The balance of the game. You have to solve puzzles, but the description of each is vague. One enemy is strong and the next very week. It takes a few days just to learn how to control your character.
Overall- 2 thumbs down ...

From playing the small portion on the demo, I could'nt see my self buying this game, I'd buy a poster of the cover. It has excellent movement compared to most other PS2 games, it has that good ole annoying camera angles you'd expect to work well but just don't, weapons of fair quality, weak graphics, terrible creativity of the enemies, all around, I say, good ideal, great title, could have been a real winner with so much potentional but that only gets you so far. So along with the crew who made this nightmareish game and who shortly will be crying from the sales, I too, share tears...

This is one of the most boring games I've played. The storyline is almost nonexistent, the fighting is very repetitive, and the puzzles are extremely simple. The graphics are nice but far from perfect. The controls are frustrating due to a horrible camera system. The sound is the only decent part of this game. So out of a perfect 5.0 I give it:
Graphics: 3.5
Sound: 4.5
Control: 3.0
Fun Factor: 3.0
Great graphics, gameplay & story

This game is so ... fun. I could spend all day in the first room just shooting and slashing the bad guys. You start with two pistola's and a sword. That may be all you need. I got a shotgun (cool weapon) and another sword (way better than the first sword) and I have a feeling that there are a lot more to get. I'm only on the second mission, maybe third, and I love the game. The cut-scene's are awesome. This weekend I'll be shooting scythe wielding puppets, grim reapers, and giant fire-filled tarantula's! Get this game! It's fun, fast-paced, easy to control, and graphically captivating.
I have played the game

Most people think the game isn't out already...it is. The game came out on October,17 and I got it. This is a great game. The sound the puzzles the mindless hack and slash...or is it. Most people think that the graphics are bad, there not, or that there's no puzzles, there are, or maybe the camera angles are bad, they move around you like a Matrix movie, or that the controls are bad, a 5 year old could learn the controls, or like I said before that it's only a mindless hack game. There's more moves that you learn that make the game sooooo much better. you have to learn when to turn into a devil and when not to. This game is one of the best for ps2, so buy it.
Horror game = Horrible graphics???

Devil may cry is real exciting, non-stop action, puzzle solving, a must have game. It has great mini games doubles the fun. However, the control is terrible and the camera angle is so horrible that it gets real frustrating. And same looking monster again, and again... Boss is real tough and real challenging but anything related to graphic...
