saw this in the store and just had to step up to the plate. not hard core gamer but do enjoy a good game. my god the graphics are spectacular. game play is fairly straight foward. only fault is sometimes a task such as that jump on the stair case in the first mission seems almost unreachable. the first boss carracter can be a little discuraging also to get pass. game play is great nothing very difficlt in puzzel department which keeps game playing moving well. much worth the money.
Amazing Game!!!!

Simply put, this is one of the best games I have played in a long time. A great slasher/shooter game. It is challenging, there is a good variety, and some of the moves you can pull off are stunning. The devil triiger is an awesome feature. The controls are awesom. The only complaint I can see about it is that the camera angle sometimes makes it so you can't see the enemy sometimes. However, that does not detract from the best game out there for the PS2(until MGS2:SOL comes out). A must buy!

Ok, this game has great graphics and gameplay, but it still doesn't work for me. I mean, I think I'm on the 9th level now, spent a load of time getting there, I've fought the same boss *BOSS* three times, another one twice, and I've had the worst time beating them both. If you're into fighting the same thing over and over again, this is the game for you. I think I'm biased because I bought GTA3 at the same time, and have found myself playing that game more by a factor of 10, but it just doesn't hold my attention. Would rather play every other game on my shelf!

Devil May Cry is the best game thst i have ever seen on the Playstation 2 The graphics are amazing and so is the gameplay. The only flaw this game has is that it is too easy to complete, although i think it is a game that you will go back to time and time again. YOu take on the role of Dante who is half man and half devil and you get to use some impressive weapons to kill all the foes wanting to kill you. If you havent played this game yet (WHY NOT), i recommend that you go out and buy it as it is a really good game.

This game is good for rent not to buy. The best thing about this game is the game play
and the graphics which are great. On the down side it has a poor storyline compared to
Metal Gear Solid 2 and other games plus I got sick of fighting the same bosses over and
over and at the end the game is way to short. It could of been a great game with in depth
story plot and characters backgrounds for exp. the character Tresh who the hell is she? It
felt to short this game felt it was not completed
wanted more - literally

I absolutely loved the game, it kept my attention and the story moved along nicely. the abilities you could buy were spiffy and the fighting was great. Kinda reminded me of a cross between Summoner and Castlevania... very cool. The only problem.. I BEAT THE... GAME IN 7 HOURS!!! Now I would like to know why a game (with movie style graphics)on dvd called Final Fantasy 8 took me 90 hours to finish and yet, I could have almost beat this game in a day. TOO SHORT!! still worth it, but rent it, don't buy it.
I would almost buy a PS2 just to play this game

As the title says, if I didn't already have a PS2 I'd seriously consider buying one just to play this one game. It is my favorite console game, hands-down, no contest. And now that I've gotten my bias out of the way:
The game has atmosphere. I don't know any other way to put it. With absolutely phenomenal graphics, the baroque-style ambient music or the Japanese hard rock during the intense battles, and the sounds of demons echoing all around you, there just isn't a better form of immersion on the market. As far as I've seen, there aren't any problems with collision detection or game boundaries - you can go anywhere it looks like you could go, and the game deals with it in a realistic fashion. There are no phantom barriers cordoning off areas the developers just didn't feel like programming.
Though some claim the camera angles to be annoying, I find that it only helps the sense of immersion. It feels exactly as though you were playing a movie - the camera angle can't be controlled by the user, but the game does it professionally. Rarely is a column blocking your view of the character, and certain camera angles just work better to set the mood, so to speak. After all, when you can't just rotate the right analog stick and swing the camera all around, it makes you wonder what's waiting around the next corner for you.
The characters and enemies are beautifully rendered and definitely believable. The names could have been more original, perhaps, but I don't think anyone is complaining. The combat system should be familiar to anyone who's played other third-person survival/horror games from Capcom (Resident Evil, Onimusha, etc.), and the learning curve isn't very steep. The game has essentially non-stop action, and after the first few minutes there's rarely a time when you aren't in a life-threatening situation with hordes of hellacious beasties coming to kick your [butt]. The puzzles can get annoying at times, but are generally well-planned and fun.
Though game time may be short, there are 4 different difficulty modes and 2 secret characters, so there's plenty of death to go around...If you own a PS2, you should own this game, period.

Dont buy this game. It is full of a horrible game play. There is no story. The graphics make me sick becuse they look like a Picasso drawing that has violenty mutated and are currently attacking their loving master. VOMIT. Dont buy this game, save your money and use it to but something that looks good as it jiggles.
Aight, so I've actually played the GAME, not the demo

And, seriously, it is even better than the demo!!! The fmv is cool, but more of a souped up version of other capcom FMVs. However, that translates well into the real action as the Dante in the FMV looks like the Dante you control! The backgrounds are complex and beautiful, and the enemies are actually hard, which is something that none of the resident evils could say.
Pros:
The action is nonstop. Dante moves and responds well to the controller, and the control system is not too complex. The sound is damn cool, and the graphics, while kind of weak at one or two points, are beautiful. What impresses me most is the number of characters on the screen this game can handle. I havent seen it slow down yet, and there have been a ton of people in the room. The gameplay is SICK -- so good, and the storylines actually cool. This game, even not being a horror type like RE and SH series, is still creepy as anything.
Cons:
The cameras, like any other game of this type (save Silent Hill 2) are perplexing at times, but it often corrects itteslf by moving about 2 feet futher, and a new camera angle ensues. The first mission takes a while to get the hang of, but after that its nonstop action.
This game is a must have for the system!
