I've played the demo version that comes in Resident Evil.
Graphics and music are excelent. It's like Castelvania, Onimusha and Residen Evil together.
Great idea, a sword and firearms combination.
There's no doubt, I'll buy this game as soon as possible.

This is undeniably one of the better looking
games for the PS2. The setting sports a
gothic glamour that screams for attention.
For me, however, the eye-candy factor alone
isn't enough to sustain the game (besides,
I have minor issues with even the animation
-- the physics simulation seems to be off
so that whenever dante does his little
gymnastic routine, his body looks too
inflexible and weightless).
The fighting is pretty mindless and gets
tedious quickly. The story line is also
uncompelling. Essentially, I just don't
care enough about Dante to play through
the game.
With stiff competitions from Metal Gear Solid 2,
Silent Hill 2, and ICO, Devil May Cry can't
expect to woo us with just another pretty face.
Short and sweet

DEVIL MAY CRY is one of the best action/horror games out there. The graphics are awesome, the special effects were great and the settings were awesome as well. The plot was standard and there were a couple of loose ends at the end of the game but it's minor. Basically DEVIL MAY CRY is a straight forward action game with minor role-play elements. The game is split up into 23 missions plus a few secret missions here and there. My only problem was that it was way too short! I finished it in a few days but it was all fun. The basic plot is: you play as "Dante" who is half man/half devil. He's also a devil hunter. Years ago, a legendary devil knight called "Sparda" sealed the underworld to prevent a powerful devil from escaping into the human world. Sparda also lived the rest of his years in the human world and married a human woman. Now 2000 later a mysterious woman called "Trish" crashes into Dante's place and leads him to a mysterious island where she says the gate to the underworld is about to open. It's now up to Dante to stop this from happening. There are a couple of surprises. On the action side of things, there are some really cool weapons and you can transform into devil state with certain power moves. DEVIL MAY CRY is a short game but it's very well put together. There are some challenging aspects but it won't take long to figure it out. All in all it's well worth it.

I'm going to get some bad feedback for this review, but here's my alternative opinion.
This game is really boring. Looks lovely, moves like a tiger on vaseline and I do dig that Matrix style "hang in mid-air doing the John Woo" thing, but there's nothing much to do apart from batter the cr*p out the same dull enemies. There are a few combos but a game has to offer more than just fingertip yoga to keep me interested.
In a word, vacant - big on style, but no substance, and certainly doesn't sit on the shelf with anything in the Resident Evil series, which actually have a plot and a few good shocks. Maybe if I had no attention span I'd like it better. Great game if you think Blade 2 is a better film than say, Near Dark.

Devil May Cry. What can I say really? I picked it up second hand after a friend had been bragging about how they had completed it in a day. I took it home and as soon as I put it in it sounded like my type of game, especally the Warning: this game contains Scenes of blood and gore. Now, after owning the game for about half a year, I have finally completed it on Super Dante mode. I cant really say much about it, so I'll just give you my overall pros and cons
PROS:
+Classic powerups, eg, Vortex
+Cutscenes blend excruciatingly well with the actuall happenings in the game
+Comination of traditional and modern weapons, sword and guns
+Lovely graphics
+Very creative enimies, giant puppets I ask you
+Brilliant voice acting, especally with the Phantom and Dante
+Very interesting storyline
CONS:
-blood could be a little better
-first time playing is very confuzing
-Is very tricky to get high level ratings (making it very tricky to get the All-star group photo as I have tried)
-Health goes down very quickly
-if you dont have quick reflexes, it becomes tricky to continualy fire at enimies
that is about it really. Now all I have to do is steal DMC 2 of my friend. A buy or rent I hear you ask? definate Buy. ;D
Best game that I have played!

When I went to rent the new Resident Evil it came with a demo disk of Devil May Cry. I played the demo disk of Devil May Cry and had more fun playing it then the new Resident Evil because like some other reviews that I have read about Resident Evil is true that it's the same borning things. But when I play Devil May Cry I had fun playing the game. So I would recommend when the game comes out that you go rent it and see if you would like to buy it.

If you are fat, like me, chances are you can't button mash that well. But back in the days of me being skinny this game was fun as hell. Not recommended for fatties.

Not that this is a bad game. But, it is the definition of
overrated. The story is one of the worst I have ever seen
and the voice acting is worse than Resident Evil.
The game was designed fine, not many glitches or bugs.
It's just not that fun. Boring is what comes to mind when
I play this game. So Even at the marked down price I
advise you to rent first. Some people love this game, but alot
of people will be turned of by how dull the gameplay is.
3 stars instead of two because there are few bugs and glitches
and it is a beautiful game.
