This game is AWESOME! Graphics, storyline, and yes..even the 3rd person controls are easy to learn. Being an avid FPS fan I was a little sceptical a first but once I got into the game i couldnt put it down. This is a true hack and slash game. It can be a little confusing at some points but I have to give this game 5 stars.

this is the GAME for you

"Devil May Cry" was truly fantastic. This is definitely the best action game I've ever played, it even has more action than the Metal Gear Solid games! Dante is really cool(a hell of a lot cooler than Raiden) and Trish is quite the stunning demoness. This game is like a complete upgrade of the Resident Evil games with better controls, weapons, graphics, enemies, etc. The only thing that the game doesn't have enough of is a story. That takes away one star from its score. If it had more cut-scenes and a better story, then the game would have been PERFECT; it would of even surpassed the Metal Gear Solid games!!

Stories are very important to me in video games, without at least a decent story, the game will always have one star or half of a star taken away. Actually, this game deserves 4 and a half stars, cause it's just so damn cool!!! If you like those games like "Resident Evil", "Tomb Raider", or "Onimusha:Warlords" then you'll love this game.Trust me. I've never beaten any Resident Evil games or the Tomb Raider or Onimusha ones, but I know those games are similar to "Devil May Cry". I can't wait until the sequel comes out( hopefully they WILL make a sequel). Please Capcom, make a sequel to this game, it's a true success!!!

One of the best games I have played, awesome visuals, good bosses, and tough too. I generally hate the analog sticks but they didn't bother me, and actually preferred them for this game. Overall great game, especially against the last boss for what Dante and Trish say, all you can think is how much of a bad ... Dante is.
Great game, only con is that it is short, cause I played it on easy automatic first time around cause I didn't know what I was doing, and I recommend it to everybody for their first time through this game.

A True Hybrid

When I first played Devil May Cry I wasn't sure what to think of it. It played like Resident Evil I thoought, pre-rendered backgrounds and plus there was a huge creepy castle so I figured survival horror through and through...boy was I wrong. I realized just how wrong the first time a marionette popped up. Guns blazing away infinitely (that's right infinite ammo)and sword slashing through flesh (or whatever) I knew this was no pure survival horror, this was a hybrid of the most sophisticated kind. Devil May Cry SUCCESSFULLY and effortlessly blends the non-stop beat 'em up action of a side-scroller with the monster movie elements of a survival horror. Think of it as Final Fight meets Resident Evil. As for graphics, good luck finding a better example of PS2s power and 3D fluidity as Dante moves seamlessly through his environment. And you say you like big nasty monsters, well my friend check out the Lava Spider and others. My only quip is that it's a little easy and a little cliched. There really is no backstory to the game. You'lll find yourself wondering why are you in the castle time and again and sometimes wondering what exactly is it you're trying to accomplish. But the bottom line is this game is just friggin cool, Dante is cool(see how verbal jousts with numerous bosses throughout the game) you'll realize just how cool the first time you knock an enemy into the air with your sword and hold him there with the fire from your guns. Plenty of action, smooth as sillk animation, and Dante...play this game.

After playing Zelda on n64, we have tried to find something close on playstation 2. Some have been close but I was never impressed. After playing the demo disc for Devil May Cry, this may blow Zelda out of the water. This disc is just plain inpressive. I preordered this, and I would never do that with any other game. My first impression is this is what a game should be.

This review is based off of the demo that came with RE:CVX. I bought the game being a big fan of the RE series, but have come to find that I liked the demo more. It reminds me of a cross between Castlevania and Metroid. I eventually get frustrated with games that limit ammo and powerups. This game has unlimited ammo, and availability to buy powerups. It's simply put a fast pased, shoot anything that moves game. Definitely one to ease the tension of the day.

I played the demo, now the real thing. This is one of the funnest games I have played. The graphics are nothing short of awesome. Add to that the game play. You can flip opponents up in the air and while susppended draw your guns and shoot them and keep them suspended. The sword play is very fast. When you get the Ifrit gloves and a few power ups then hold that flamming round house kick, well it is just to cool. This game just plain looks cool. The only problem I have with it, is certain areas you cannot just jump off with out hitting the triangle button. This is the standard all other games should be judged by. If you have not bought this game, buy it now, you are missing it.

Pros: The non-stop action, the storyline, the weapons, and the graphically beautiful stages.

Cons: That creepy blob boss
