The characters are funny and it's a great way to kill time. The graphics are awesome and the camera views are great. After a while, it gets boring cuz you have to go back and forth, and the camera angles get you dizzy after a while. If you happen to enjoy those "super mario" type of games, where you have to kill mini enemies that obstruct your path and collect "stuff" in order to complete missions, then this is a game for you.
Kind of hard.

This game is one of the better ones out there. You will want to buy a guide for this game, but you'll find it still is very difficult to master. You can tell the makers of this game made Crash Bandicoot.
this platform rocks!!!!

this is the best platform i have ever played before. you are mainly trying to find power cells to complete missions. You play jak who's friend daxter is turned into a little rodent(you are on a journy to the north to change him back). You must explore the world and pick up all kinds of new things and meet some interesting (or creepy) people along the way. I hope any one who sees this game buys it ...
One of the best sleeper games of the year!

I saw lots of commercials, game previews, and demos on this game, and all had nothing but good things to show about this game! After playing a demo on this game, I knew I had to get it! It seemed really good, and when I finally got it, I was hooked! This game has a good story, awesome and beautiful graphics, and the characters are great! Daxter was funny, Samos Hagai(Green Sage) was funny and cool, and Jak was badass(even though he never spoke in the entire game). I really do hope that NaughtyDog(who really rocks at making games) makes a sequel to this game, it really does deserve and need one. The ending definitely leaves you hanging and wanting to know, "What's behind that freakin' door?!" Another reason why they should make a sequel is because of the villains: Gol and Maia Akaron. They make it pretty obvious that there was a chance the two villains survived falling into the Dark Eco silo(and I'll bet that falling into the Dark Eco like that will make them even more powerful). "Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy" is definitely a must have if you're into make believe stuff with elves, monsters, adventure, and danger. Get it or rent it( it's your choice).
Big Surprise

Well, I can only say one word. Amazing! I thought when I bought this game, it would be babyish. Well I was wrong. It is both challanging and fun. It also has spectacular graphics and sound. A++ in my book.
I don't regret

Buying this game was the best I did when searching for my little sister's present. I read the reviews and decided to buy it.
My sister can't stop playing it, even my brother and my mother, that enjoy so much watching Jak and Dexter having so many adventures on that cool worlds.
Wonderful effects, cool graphics, now I can say all they were right. I give it 5 stars.
PS. Besides, you can change the language of the entire game (even the dialogs) to Spanish, French, German, and other languages I don't remember right now.
Great game! Get this if you like platform games.

This is a great game. I'd say it's a must-have together with games such as Metal Gear Solid 2. The graphics is excellent! Cartoony. Cute. Colorful. Vivid. Funny. It's really beautiful and the framerate is high enough for it all to move silky smooth. There is some slowdown a few times, but this happens very rarely. You will walk around just admiring the graphics and level design.
Of course, graphics is not enough. It's just plain fun to play too! It's easy to pick up and highly addictive. It does get quite difficult after a while though, and this can sometimes be a little frustrating. Despite this, the game still gives you that "just a little bit longer"-feeling that identifies great games. It's a 3D platform game, but they have thrown in some subgames for variation: sliding down tubes avoiding objects, catching fish, riding a "hovercraft" etc. These are fun too, especially the hovercraft (which makes for a racing subgame).
If you like platform games, get this. I just can't imagine anyone getting dissapointed with a game like this (and this is coming from someone that is picky about games). It's great for both young and old gamers.
If anything is bad about the game, it must be that there's no intro (just straight to the title screen) and the ending is a little weird (and short) too. It's like they did just the game and nothing around it. That's not too bad, though. An intro isn't all that important, but it does help to set a mood. The character you play fits together with this lack of depth. He doesn't say a single word in the entire game, while there are plenty of characters to "talk" to. The sidekick, however, says things all the time. The things he say and does can be a little childish at times, but I guess this works for the younger audience.
In short: Get it! Enjoy.

It's not that Jak and Daxter is a bad game, by any means. Crisp graphics, smooth gameplay, a fairly good storyline. The problem with it is that it's pretty much the PS2's first platformer of the running, jumping, climbing trees school, and as such I was hoping to see something that hadn't been done before, and that I didn't really get. I mean, it's 3-D, and it's VERY well done 3-D, but beyond that it doesn't really bring anything new to the "Banjo Kazooie/Mario 64" school (although it is smoother than both of those games.) The different types of energy represent an interesting strategic opportunity, but one that's never really explored to its full. Another thing that ticks me off is that Jak and Daxter don't really grow as the game progresses. You're just as able to beat the final boss when you start the game as when you end it. And I'm not really sure what the point of collecting the precursor eggs is, since when I got all 101 all I got was the thrilling priviledge of watching the credits roll WHENEVER I WANT THEM TO! Maybe it did something different for you?
In final estimation: Jak and Daxter is not a flawed game, but it's not a brilliant one either. Get it if you want some solid platform action, and some fairly cool speeder/racer type levels.
