This is a very fun Mario Game. I especially like that a second player can help you with their own remote. They have the ability to help collect star bits, shoot at enemies, and assist with puzzles. So when my boyfriend and I play the game, we take turns winning the main stars and can help the other instead of "just watching". The effects are fun and the way the creators of the game got creative with the gravity of the game was very cool. Every level is set on it's own little abstract planets in space, you may jump from one area and end up upside down because the gravity switches. Makes the puzzles a bit more challenging and creative! The Lumas are adorable and Rosalina is a great new edition to the Mario characters (if you own this game, you can unlock her faster as a character in Mario Kart Wii!)
No Mario game will be nearly as fun as Mario 64 for me, but this was just as fun as Mario Sunshine, and I recommend it for any Mario fans!
Quirky and Fun!

This is a great game, although a little tough for really little kids. I have a 7yr old and a 4 yr old and they love to "help" i.e. be the second person who helps with the game rather than playing the lead role themselves.
But I love it.
Awesome! Big fan of the Mario series!

As you can see from the five stars I have given this game, I really think it is a great game. The graphics are very good, I was surprised! My only gripe was that the game seemed rather short, most of the worlds were fairly easy to beat. But this is a minor gripe. I just thought that Mario Sunshine had a greater length of good gameplay. This is personal preference, however. Get this game!
Awesome game

Great take on Mario. The game is long (which is awesome!). My son (4.5 yo) can't quite use the controls to play by himself, but the 2 player options allows him to help mom or dad play and feel like he is a part of the action.
Definitely would recommend this game to others!

This is my favorite game in recent memory.
When Super Mario Galaxy was first released, I was skeptical about purchasing it. I loved Super Mario 64 but I thought Super Mario Sunshine was familiar and gimmicky so I had priorly assumed that there wasn't any gas left in the Mario franchise tank. Boy was I wrong.
To summarize the game, it is at its core a collection of puzzles. The completion of each puzzle awards you with star. Collect enough stars, and you win the game.
It sounds mundane, but completing each individual puzzle and collecting the star has the charm of, say, completing a sudoku puzzle or the daily crossword. But unlike doing consecutive sudoku puzzles, the quests to earn each star in Mario Galaxy are so fantastically diverse and mind-bendingly innovative, you'll have a hard time putting your controller down. It stems from the absolutely brilliant and imaginative ways the designers used the gravity mechanic in the game - the direction of gravity is constantly changing, Mario will be flipping upside down, and you'll have a wonderful time manipulating the game.
I should address another issue that gave me pause before I bought the game. I had feared from the trailers and previews that either the game would merely involve jumping from tiny planet to tiny planet, killing one or two enemies on each one and collecting a few coins; or that the space setting would quickly grow tiresome (like the Sun-shiny settings of Sunshine before it). Fear not - true some levels involving blasting from small space object to small space object. But there is tremendous diversity from planet jumping puzzles (which are much more fun than I had anticipated) to large sprawling landscapes to explore much like in Super Mario 64. Further, traveling the different planets gives Mario the opportunity to visit diversely themed planets - such as your standard green grass settings to fire, ice, desert, water, volcano, etc. settings.
So in conclusion, if you were skeptical like me about Galaxy, let me assure you it is well worth trying out.
Excellent game, for my kids

I've almost never played this game. So how can I review it? Because I've watched it quite a lot as my 6-year-old son played it. It would bore me after a while but for him, it's great. He can play it without needing help, the story is engaging and the characters are cute, and there isn't a drawn out introduction to the game. There is an intro, but it's animated and even has in it a sort of tutorial stage to practice moving around and collecting star bits. The music doesn't get lodged in my brain all day; it's real music, not this strange aerobic/dance music that someone, sometime, declared was right for video games. The challenges vary, as do the settings, and in stages new chapters of a story are unlocked which he can then have his older sister read to him.
The flaw? Handle with care. Learn from us, make sure that a kid this age is not allowed to take the discs out without immediately putting them into their cases. He can't view the game finish because of disc damage. Well, the finish after beating the boss to rescue Peach... obviously we don't know what the game finish is, exactly.
I'm no Mario fan, but this is a very good game that I can't imagine any kid finding dull.
OMG!!!

WOW! I can't beelieve (bad pun) this game! Nintendo is ingenious! There is soooo many awesome things with this game I don't know were to start! Oh, how about the AWESOME graphics, interesting character design, WAY cute new costumes and powers for Mario! Though I have to say if you get motion sick really easily watch out! You're going to be awed (and probably sickened) when you go floating through space... with very little gravity.
Frankly, I LOVED (and still do) playing this game! The story line I have to mention is extremely well written (at least for me) , as they introduce a new character... Rosalina! I'm not going to ruin the for the people who haven't played it. So to end this review, this has to be one (if not) THE best game Nintendo has ever made!
Hope this review helps! :P

This is an awesome game. According to my son, its his favorite game in the whole world, including all the Nintendo DS Mario games.
Among other things, one item that makes the game unique (and perhaps superior) is that it is a three dimensional game where the screen shows various views of the adventure. The views range from directly overhead to 3/4 view from the back to directly underneath.
Family Fun!
