There is only one word to describe Super Mario Galaxy and that word is AMAZING. I was skeptical when i heard the idea of Mario in space. I thought it would be just an OK game. That, of course, was before I had played the game. The first thing to notice when playing Mario Galaxy is the graphics. These graphics are absolutely breath-taking. Another great feature would be the music which is nearly all preformed by a live orchestra and even the digital music is top quality. The gameplay reminds me alot of Super Mario 64 with a twist. Since Mario Galaxy is a Wii game, naturally it involves using the Wii remote. However, the remot's functions aren't overused due to the fact that this game was not meant for heavy use of the wii remote.
Overall on a scale of 1 to 10 I'll rate each aspect of the game.
Graphics:10
Music:10
Gameplay:9.9 (the camera views sometimes don't show Mario but that's been and issue since Mario 64)
Story:10
If you own a Wii or are planning to own a Wii this is a musthave.

This is amazing, not just the perfect and simple gameplay, and the graphics that in my opinion are the best seen in wii so far, it's just that feeling of a great Nintendo's game since Ocarina Of time. Simple Perfect and it's for EVERYONE.

I was actually one of the people who was pretty indifferent to this title when it was released. Being 27, I felt I had largely outgrown Mario games. I eventually got Galaxy as a Christmas present, and have been blown away by it.
The controls seem magical; waving the Wiimote to collect stars is just a happy thing to do. Visually, the game is a treat. I have a 37" inch LCD TV, and was wondering how 480p would look on it. I can tell you visually its awesome. The first Bowser boss fight felt like it belonged in an epic Disney movie. The level designs vary, and many have unique uses of the Wii controls, keeping the game feeling fresh.
The downsides? No true multi-player coop (with say Luigi on the screen). The enemy AI is pretty patterned and basic; although that's par for the course with Mario level design. Overall though, these downers don't keep this title from getting give stars. Every Wii owner who can manage moderately sophisticated controls should get this game.

my son is 6 and he and i play this game almost exclusively. he is my wing man, so to speak. i love this game and it's constantly providing a challenge. we last played Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube so this is really a step up. I have to say, most of Sunshine is like the special levels of Sunshine where Mario had to use skill and timing to beat particular obstacle course like scenarios. Mario Galaxy is like that nearly 100% of the time. this means that my son can't really play. He loved Sunshine because there was a world to interact with an generally not die. that world on Galaxy is just a small spaceship-type place and he's quickly bored and ready to give me back the primary controls to tackle more challenges. We're really enjoying it, but I was sort of hoping he'd be able to do more like he did in Sunshine. i like the game too much to mark it down for this, but i figured i'd warn other parents of 6 year olds.
Very fun mind bending game!

The game feels very much like Super Mario Sunshine but with tons of different challenges in the game. Everything feels smooth: the controls, the graphics, and the sound. There is no loading screen for the game, so it is non-stop fun. A lot of the challenges in the game are fairly easy, but there are lots of extra challenges in the game that can get pretty hard (and may take many tries to beat). The co-op mode of the game is a nice added feature that has never been in a mario platform game before. The second person can help collect star bits (you use these a lot throughout the game), help mario jump (this is sometimes annoying though for the 1st player but can also be fun and challenging :), and manipulate the environment (mess with enemies, search bushes and grass for star bits). The boss battles in the game are very smoothly done as well and feel epic (especially if your a mario fan). The characters will make you laugh (especially the little mushroom guy lol). This game feels pretty huge and the replay value is very high, so its a game worth buying (you only need 60 stars to beat the game, but there are 120 in all) All in all, if you own a Wii then this is a MUST OWN GAME!

Totally Awesome. I first played this at E for All (all 10 minutes worth).
That was enough to make me buy the game. Walking upside down, flying in space, turning into a butterfly are an incredible experience. Like the original Mario 64 this is groundbreaking. Mario rules!!
Great for the "gamer", even better for the girlfriend.

I could never compare or judge video game's grafics, storyline, complexity or anything technical.
However, Super Mario Galaxy was really fun to watch, help, and play as 'co-star.' A great way to spend a rainy day with someone.
For anyone who's not really good at video games but wants to play anyway this is their chance to shine.
BEST game i have ever played

Super mario galaxy is a very great game. You have to know how to play it if you want it to be fun. Anyways, when i first started the game, it was pretty bad. (i had no clue what to do) But then i used a super mario galaxy book. That book helped me a lot. The graphcs are awsome. When you fly from galaxy to galaxy, it looks really cool.some of the levels are kind of hard, but once you beet the hard ones, you feel great. some levels are easy and short.Any kind of level is fun though. I think anyone would like this game and think it is fun.

After getting my Wii I knew I needed the equivalent of Mario 64 for the Wii. At the time there wasn't anything that even came close. Mario Galaxy has a great little plot and will keep you entertained for hours.
The Wiimote and and nunchuck are a must for this game. If you have someone else around they can use a second Wiimote to help out Mario by "pausing" enemies and shooting star bits at enemy's.
The Graphics are beautiful and each galaxy is a feast for the eyes and are well done and thought out. The music is also an enjoyable part of the experience, as they have new songs as well as the classics with a bit of a modern twist.
There are a number of great new "powers" for Mario including the ice flower, bee suit, spring suit along with all the classics like rainbow and fire flower.
Overall this is a must have for the Wii system and especially if you enjoyed Mario 64 on the N64 system.
Disorientingly good

I would have to say this is one of the better Mario games Nintendo has put out. The core gameplay is still based on the tried and true Mario platform, but the game world layout and new features makes the game unique enough for it to be more entertaining than any other Mario game. I would highly recommend this game. One warning though, if you have a weak stomach, you might want to test this game out before buying as the flipping gravity and twisting points of view can be disorienting and possibly nauseating for some.
