I'm new to the Wii concept so this game took some getting used to, but overall the game play is very smooth and it's a lot of fun to play.
Super Smash Bros Brawl - ok, but Mario Galaxy is better ......

My 9-yr old requested this game, and for him it was fun. For a while.
The game is a lot less engaging than Mario Galaxy. If we had to
make a choice between the two, it would be Mario Galaxy hands down.
If I had a choice again on buying this game, I won't buy it.
SSB-Brawl has individual battles plus a story mode which seem
to have appealed more to my kid. But all in all, it does not seem to
offer anything different that would make it more interesting than
other battle/fighting games. The familiarity of the characters they
used in the game only helps a little.
One bad thing I noted is that this game has caused our Wii console
to freeze up around 3 times already. You just need to reboot the
system to get it back up, but still, my kid probably played with it
only about 12 occasions in the last 2 months or so that we've had it.
Very disappointed!

I love the innovative controller for the Wii. I loved Zelda and Mario Galaxy, but this game doesn't even take advantage of the controller! I'm so used to swinging the control to swing Link's sword, and now it's back to pressing buttons the old school way.
If I wanted to play a game with my gamecube controllers, I still have Smash Brothers Melee. It's faster too, and not many improvements were made to the Wii version. Major disappointment!

Doesn't use any of the wii's features. I was expecting so much from this game and it did not deliver. Would have been a fine game 5 years ago.

It's a lot like the gamecube version only updated and better. The controls on the classic controller are a lot like a cross between the N64 and the Gamecube. They are not quite as good as the n64 but definitely better than the gamecube.

How did this happen? If you don't have a a Gamecube controller - dont bother. This discovery ruined what should have been a fun Saturday night.

So I was pretty frustrated reading the reviews before I got this game. Everyone seemed to be on one side of the fence or the other, and those who actually reviewed the game were really quite long winded. Here's my version:
Pros: Better graphics, but not by much, over the GC verison. More characters are actually decent, and less frustrating to play with.
Cons: Awkward control system if you only have a wiimote. Single player game is slow, and monotonous. Not a lot of variety.
Overall, I'm quite dissappointed with this game. It's not that it's not good, it's just not what I've come to expect from Nintendo. I played the game for about 6 hours in my first week of owning it and it just feels like I'm going through the motions trying to unlock everything. This may change when my wife has some time to play the 2 player mode with me, but she isn't too into fighting games.
Recommendation: Buy this game used if you're interested. My guess is that in a few weeks there are going to be a lot of people like myself who are going to be bored with this one. I'll likely try to sell mine while I can still get a decent price for it.
Very good game but roster feels a bit empty

I give this game 4.9 stars. It is a very fun game with the co-op for almost every game mode and new characters as well as the old ones. I guess I was expecting a little more characters. I recommend this game for anyone who has a wii.

I waited a couple days to write this, because it took a long time for me to form an opinion on this game. The first impressions I had were based on the single player, which is definitely not the game's strong suit. There's no shortage of things to do in the single player mode, but all of them can get a bit redundant. The adventure mode, for example, is huge and sprawling, but each stage is essentially the same thing, and it got old to me rather quickly. The next thing I tried was the online play, first with a friend code battle and then a random opponent. It's fun, but it's severely limited by the lack of chat/voice functionality. I had to use my cell phone to communicate with my friend while we were playing. However, last night I brought the game over to a friend's house for some live, in-person, 4-player action. That was probably the most fun multiplayer gaming experience I've ever had. We played for about 4 hours straight with no breaks and it didn't get old. The multiplayer portion of this game is so phenomenal that it, in my opinion, makes up for any other shortcomings. PS: for all the people complaining about lack of wii-mote motion control, I understand why they left this out now: it can be played with the Gamecube controller, allowing for even more players to join in even without extra wii-motes! However, I'm removing 1 star from my rating based on the fact that 1 player isn't stellar and this game seriously needs a chat function for the online matches.

I stayed up until midnight at Game Crazy to get this game. I have to say, it demolished all the cons in Melee, and brought out the best it should be! I love the adventure mode, how it mashes all the characters together into a beautiful storyline.
Brawling against all the characters in an Event or just a meer Brawl, is fun, yet funny. It's just me, but I like the way Nintendo puts characters against each other that would never make any sense (eg. Zelda vs. Link, Mario vs. Peach, Donkey Kong vs. Diddy Kong etc.)
I just have one complaint against this game. The controls can be difficult to master, and can be very confusing. Otherwise, this game is a Nintendo masterpiece!
