This game was good back in the day when I was younger. But now I wouldnt be as interested in playing it. But the game has pretty good graphics. The city scenes are pretty nice. The gameplay isnt bad, has pretty good control over the Taxi you drive and stopping etc. Its fun picking up people then afterwards dropping them off at their certain destination within a certain amount of time. And you have to drive through heavy traffic etc. Fun game but VERY repetitive. The WHOLE game is this. You cant really unlock anything. There isnt much to do in this game. Theres some Mini Games, that are easy and dont take long to beat at all. So what do to after that? No idea, play original mode. But its a decent game for a certain amount of time.

A good game to come back to from time to time

This game is a lot of fun to play. There are very different pretty large cities that can be fun to explore some time if you get tired of driving people around. The only real problem with this game is that after a while you can get pretty bored, especially after you find the handful of awesome places to get stunt points, and you end up going no where else. Outside of this the game is great, and if you get bored try playing the arcade mode where you get little time, but gain more as you drop people off. Also I if you get bored just drive around and see what you can find. Finally when you have done all that you can set the game aside for a little while, and come back to it and enjoy again!!

Intense, adrenaline-pumping fun

As one of the big ticket titles for the fledgling Dreamcast, Sega's final venture into the home console market, this game needed to replicate and improve upon the quality established by its arcade counterpart. Naturally, die-hard fans of the arcade machine would flock to a home release, regardless of quality, to save themselves a bundle on quarters... but the real trick was capturing the hearts and minds of the home market. Crazy Taxi's arcade release came near the very end of the out-of-home market's lifespan. Like it or not, gamers just weren't leaving home with as many tokens in their pockets as they had in the decades beforehand. Sega had captured the arcade market with this imaginative gem, but they'd only reached a dwindling fraction of the gaming market. To really consider Taxi (and the early quarter of the Dreamcast's life) a success, they needed a grand slam here.

As with any good arcade title, there's no lengthy, thought-provoking back story to the world of Crazy Taxi. It's instantly accessible, mindless fun. After ten minute of gameplay, you feel like an old pro. You could take a wild guess about the premise just by looking at the CD jacket and get 90% of it correct. OK, get this... you're a TAXI driver.... who is rewarded for driving all CRAZY-like... and your only purpose in life is to earn more money. End of story.

As seems to be the case with any arcade game, the physics of CT have been mussed with just a teensy bit, aiding in the transformation of a taxi driver's day from monotonous, mundane errands to wild, exciting rides. Your car will never sustain any damage, nor will those of the game's various citizens. Instead, vehicles bounce off of one another, roll over and sail through the air like so many cartoony bumper cars. The lack of any real visible consequences for your actions (aside from the obvious loss of game time) really help to set a player's mind at ease and let the relaxation set in. Sure, you're rushing around the city like a madman... but at least you're at ease in doing so.

A new addition to the home release of the Taxi is the refreshing "Crazy Box" mode, which takes the tweaked physics engine of the regular game and applies it to other varied driving games. You'll drive down a bowling alley, complete with oversized pins. You'll cruise down a skier's long jump ramp and sail off the edge. You'll navigate a teeny stretch of road, complete with sharp turns, instant death on either side and a relentless time limit. It's a great way to introduce new players to some of the more advanced methods of game play, while giving experienced players a set of new challenges and a chance to brush up on their abilities. It's exactly what the home release needed to set it apart from its arcade cousin and to intrigue the more demanding home market.

In addition to an easily established (and notably improved) premise, the control scheme on my familiar white Dreamcast controller is damned close to perfection. The number of commands necessary to play a game of Taxi are relatively small: you just need to steer, accelerate, brake and shift. The Dreamcast pad, however, functions as though it were sculpted with this very game in mind. The left and right triggers are your brake and gas, respectively, and are pressure sensitive, which means you have much more control over your pedals. The analog stick is a flawless de facto steering wheel, to the point that I can't imagine controlling the game with a regular wheel any more. Likewise, the "A" button switches you to reverse and the "B" button guns it back into drive... both buttons placed logically in the exact spot where your thumb should be while holding down the right trigger. This placement makes shifting, accelerating and the various advanced play mechanics introduced in "Crazy Box" much more natural and easy to accomplish.

Visually, there's no distinguishing the game from its arcade counterpart. They're honestly identical, which was really a big feather in the Dreamcast's cap at the time of the game's release. In today's world, alongside graphical masterpieces such as Gran Turismo 4 and Project Gotham Racing 2, it doesn't stand a chance, but at the time it was really inspiring to see. Each of the four selectable drivers are well crafted and easily recognizable, even in the heat of a tight deadline. They each cruise around in their own original cab, styled to match their personality and come fully equipped with their own custom license plate. There's a good selection of different models out on the roads, but I'd be lying if I said you'll never see a duplicate out on the road. They're all pretty abundant, but there's enough variety that you won't be distracted by the same car lined up, bumper to bumper, all the way down the road.

Finally, the audio... which is just completely over the top. Seriously, the amount of effort that went into acquiring, licensing, writing, recording, mastering and implementing the various audio aspects of Crazy Taxi is just mind-blowing. Everything from the musical score (provided by The Offspring and Bad Religion, respectively) to the driver / passenger voices and interactions (which vary depending on the individual) to the sound of oncoming traffic, rubber on asphalt and screaming civilians is spot on. The speedy, racing mainstream punk rock soundtrack perfectly accompanies the rushed, frantic pace of the game itself. Absolutely flawless.

In short, Crazy Taxi was everything Sega needed to re-establish themselves in the home market. It's a superb experience, whether you're playing alone at home on a Friday night or taking turns with a large group of friends. Where it's lacking in depth, it makes up with replayability and a tight control scheme. If you've got a Dreamcast sitting around at home and you haven't picked this game up yet, now is most certainly the time.

I had heard a lot of good things about Crazy Taxi, so when I came across a copy for just a few dollars, I figured I'd buy it. It is a lot of fun. Good game play, humor, and Offspring for its soundtrack. There's not a whole lot I can say bad about it. Except for one thing, and this is a problem everyone has, it gets old quick. You can play for an hour or so, and then you have to put it away for a few days or a week. It doesn't have much staying power, which is what is important with a game. Still, it is fun, and it's a good game to play until you get your copy of Grand Theft Auto.

Crazy Taxi is awesome! I bought the dreamcast just to play this game after playing it in the arcade! If you get it(which u should) then definitely try your hand at the "Crazy Box" mode! Jump as high as you can off of the end of a street, bowl with your car, and pop all of the balloons you can! It's REALLY fun. Also on arcade style you can go anywhere except through walls (Unless of course you can knock them down) Get as close to cars as you can without touching them to earn bigger bucks. Play it time and time again with all of the different drivers. I also bought Crazy Taxi, you can pick up 4 customers at a time on some parts. To anyone from the ages of 5 - 55 this is a great game!

Ok, here is what I have to say

Crazy taxi is a great game, with great graphics, sound, and gameplay. But of course the game has some, well.... alot of flaws. The game was designed from the very popalare aracde game called, "Crazy Taxi."(Of course) The game does feature this aracade verison along with a new verison for dreamcast. The game clevery mixed in humor, a some what different type of gameplay, and of course good plain fun. Before I go into the basics I must clear up something, this is not a racing game.

I'll start with the gameplay. In Crazy Taxi you must pick-up persons and bring them to different areas.(Like the airport) This is were the fun factor comes in. There is 2 courses and a mini game area called crazy box. The game also has 4 different drives, each with there own car and strenghts. I must say Crazy Taxi does hold impressive gameplay.

Next is the sound and the graphics. The graphics are good, they are very smooth, clean, ect. Yes, there is a small flaw in the graphics, a very unstable framerate. In very dense areas of the game it feels like time stops, cause' of how slow it gets. The sound is crisp, lots of different voice samples. But in the sound comes another flaw, it's the soundtrack. The soundtrack features; offspring and bad reiligon. This wouldn't be a problem if they had a bigger selection, there's only like four songs of the game.(This is the biggest drawback)

Overall the game is worth ten bucks. To be perfectly honest it's the perfect game to kick of your shoes and play.

This game is awesome! It is an absolute must-have game for the Dreamcast or PS2. Even though the game can get repetitive, the challenge of picking up different people and exploring different areas is huge. It's a fun game to play with friends because even though it is 1-player only, it is so quick everyone can play it. It's also fun for kids to drive around either in the game or in the "Crazy Box" modes. The game where you pop the balloons with the car is fun for kids as young as 3 or 4 (even though you have to help them steer!!)

Great fun if you want to give your brain a rest

Crazy Taxi is a mindless game of driving..and crashing..lots of crashing....but doesnt make your brain hurt (unlike some games that make me feel like i'm too stupid to play!). I wish there were a little more depth to this game though, I can only take playing for a short amount of time, whereas games with puzzles and levels keep me playing for hours. Also, I think a major improvement on this game would be the ability to have a "total destruction mode", where instead of concentrating on picking up the passengers, you could concentrate on wrecking as many of the other vehicles as possible in a given amount of time with the total monetary amount of destruction tallied up at the end. The graphics in this game are wonderful, control is easy, this is a game you can pick up and play without reading the instructions. The choice of 4 taxi drivers gets old really fast, as all of the drivers are pretty annoying. After the first 15 mins of playing this game, I found the option of turning the music off which was a huge relief. Teenagers might enjoy the sound track, but older gamers will probably find it a bit overwhelming.
Overall, this game is worth the money, if not for anything but the fun of taking frustrations out at the end of a hard day.

The Fun is still there after so long

This game is very good. The plot amy be simplistic but it stills has a very good fun factor. The graphics are very good and almost everything is perfoundly detaileddown to insides of stores and road signs. There is no slowdown like in most other fast paced games. Even though u can only chosse from 4 drivers u never seem to get tired of this game. The cities are vast and have real life stores and restaurants which very much adds to the realism of the game. Unlike the arcade version, u can play for up to ten minutes without have to earn more time. This game is goods for months of fun game playing time.Crazy Taxi is a must buy for anybody who is a fan of driving games, or even for anybody who didnt neccasarily like the arcade version.
