fun game with some minor bad spots

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 6

This is a review coming from a kid. This game has some nice detialed graphics but some areas seamed rushed. You first buy your puppy from the kennel. Then you teach its name with the microphone. Then you can play with your puppy and teach it tricks. You take your dog on walks and compete it in competitions for money to bye more dogs. It lasts forever and is very fun. The sound is great. The barks sound real and the music is nice and catchy. Every thing acts real. The reason why this 4 stars is you can only walk your dog every 30 minutes, you can only enter 3 contests a day and can only teach 3-4 tricks a day. Overall this is a great game and any dog lover will like it.

The best portable game since Pokemon!

This is THE best portable game i've ever played! The microphone and touchscreen interaction really make this one of the most realistic virtual pets out there.

You get to walk the dog, participate in contests (Obedience, Agility, and Frisbee) teach it tricks, pet it, feed it, fetch, accessorize (Collars, etc.), and even wirelessly find a playmate for your little dog.

Here's a few tips: You don't need to go to contests if you walk at least 5 times a day. You might get a Maui statue, worth $100 in the game! Look out for garbage! Pull your dog away like mad to stop it from eating it. If it's too late, get a milk carton (Appears on 2nd day or so) because it heals your dog's digestive system. My dog, Salsa, barks a lot and approaches a stranger. So unless your dog gets fought with (Drumbs in the music get a lot louder when this happens), don't act so cautious with other dogs.

Pros: Pure interaction. Easy training with voice. Easy to care for your dog. You can take it almost anywhere you can.

Cons: You have to make money to buy stuff in the game... All water is bottled. People demand PSP version, but (yawns) it isn't going to happen thanks to Nintendo DS's touchscreen and mic.

After reading many of the current reviews, there is one more thing that has to said again: NintenDogs wil NEVER be released for PSP or Gamecube, because of two reasons:
#1 Obviously it's published and inspired by Nintendo, as some of you might now, Nintendo and Sony are the most severe opponents when it comes to Videogames.

#2 The Pillars of this game are the Mic, the Stylus and the WLAN features. Disregarding the WLAN Sonys PSP has neither of it.
Since the main fun lies in using these features, Nintendogs just wouldn't work on a PSP.

Okay, now my opinion on that game:
I've tested it while a guy from Nintendo was visiting our office, so I could check the Japanese as well as the american Version (which I also have at home).
Since the features as the Mic or Touch Screen are well implemented, especially the Mic is likely to cause some trouble. Since the voice recognition is extremely sensitive and recognizes every bit of noise. Beside your intonation hast to be almost equal every time you mention a trick or your puppies name in order to ahve it recognized.

The cool thing about Nintendogs is the interaction via the stylus pen, allowing you to pet your dog for obedience or giving it a shower, feeding it, playing with it ect. There is a wide range of possibilities of interactions. Furthermore you'll find a vast amount of various items, from toys to sport items, miscellaneous items and care-taking items such as food, drink and shampoo.

An other nice feature is the bark mode, allowing you to interact with the dogs of other NDS owners (provided they have Nitnendogs plugged into their NDS). You can exchange gifts and add the person to your friend list. If he or she owns a different version from yours, and you kennel lack his or her breed, then it will be added immediately to your kennel and will 'then be available for you to purchase.

All in all, Nintendogs boasts with a lot of cool features, unfortunately it's long lasting appeal appeal is a little limited because of the repetition of actions. Being able to enter you puppy in 3 different contests isn't quite sufficent, regarding the fact, that a after passing all levels you won't be able to participate in the competitions anymore, except you pick a new dog to train.

Okay folks, keep wagging (as the commentator uses to say...)
Yours Franzisca

You know that there are three versions of Nintendogs. Well, there's no need to buy all 3 versions because, in the game (of any version!), you can win the breeds from the other versions by collecting these things called Trainer Points. If you get 50,000 points, then you'll have all the breeds in one game (AKA all three versions @ once)! That's why people are saying it is the same. I hope that answers your question!

Fun and Innovative Game! For all the dog lovers out there...

Nintendogs Chihuahua and Friends is a really great game that is both innovative and fun. The game boasts great, realistic graphics (the puppies really look realistic) and has many unlockable features and breeds. In fact, all dog breeds are unlockable in all versions depending on how many training points you acquire (you acquire training points by taking your dogs on walks and giving it lots of love..). This particular version features the Chihuahua, German Shepard, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier, and the Shetland Sheepdog.

This game offers lots to do your puppy, you can take it on walks(where you can find different items and meet other dogs) and to the park, you can pet your puppy via the stylus, you can enter it in competitions, you can train it, play frisbee with it, give it baths, and even meet other puppies through bark mode. You can even redecorate your virtual house with different decor styles (and if you earn enough trainer points you can unlock other decoration styles and rooms). All in all, I really enjoy playing this game and I highly recommend this game to anyone, especially children (who can learn the responsibilities of owning a pet) and dog lovers everywhere.

A week or 2 after purchasing a Nintendo DS, I saved enough $$$ to buy a new game, so, I decided on this one because of the good reviews I heard about it. I can tell you, I am NOT dissapointed! Not one bit. It is a great game that really brings out the fun in simulation, digital interaction and responsibility. The dogs in the game are very realistic, personality-wise, and appearance-wise. One of the best ways to interact with your pup is by speaking into the microphone. You do this when you teach your dog its name, and teach it tricks. You can also take your dog on walks, play with them at the park, and enter them in contests, like disc throwing, agility, and obedience. This is a very realistic game, I would recommend it to anyone who asked, especially someone who can't own a dog due to allergies, it is so close that you wouldn't know the difference! There is only one drawback, sometimes you run out of things to do too quickly. Don't get me wrong, I love this game a lot, but you feed and groom your dog, take it for a walk, maybe enter it in a competition, and then you have run out of stuff to do. I guess it would be nice for a person on a tight schedule, but oh well.

I have the chihuahua and friends and on their I have a german shepered named Odin, and a collie named Lassie. My friends have nintendogs too, my friend Alexis has a duchsand and my friend dJ has a lab. Well now on mine I'm able to have all 3 breeds cuz hn you go into bark mode with a breed you haven't unlocked yet, you get to have that breed! Now I can have chihuahua, lab, and the little one who's name I can't spell.

I bet you people who give this game a 1 star is cuz you think it might be bad and you've neva played it. And it won't come out on a PSP! that's just stupid! You guys who beleive that are retarded!

Anyway, back to nintendogs. I love this game soo much! I have over $100,000 cuz Lassie is the Champion in the Agiliy Trial and Odin is the champion in the Disc Compentetion so 'm able to be very rich and my trainer points are going sky high everyday! You people who don't have it, don't listen to those losers who judge this game by the cover. I've accually played it and I'm telling you you should get one! Who cares if there are real dogs out there! If you're alergic to dogs of your parents won't let you have one get this game, especially if you're a dogless dog lover. It really is just like the real thing. But the only thing you can't do is accually feel the pet your dogs super-soft fur. That's the only thing I hate about nintendogs. If you're not allowed to have a dog or you're alergic, get this game! you won't regret it, but before you get i, make sure ya have a nintendo ds.

I couldn't wait to get this game! I love the game so much! I reserved a copy before it came out and was jumping with excitement when I finally went to get it! When I first played it my dog had a hard time learning its name but then I tried a two syllable name and it learned it in no time at all. I already have two dogs of my own but I have always wanted to have a different bred of dog for once(not that I don't like the bred of my dogs but I would like to try something different some times)Also, this game has helped me learn some ways in which I can care for my own dogs. Equally important, this game hasn't driven me away from giving my real dogs attention as well ether and my dogs don't seem to be jealous that I am playing with another dog too. This toy can be ideal to everyone, even to kids who can not have a real dog. This game has so much to offer and if you really play the game you can see that it is an action packed game and a anti-fighting game at the same time! In conclusion, if you like this game and wish to explore more into the world of Nintendogs, visit www.nintendogs.com and become a member just like I will be soon. p.s. I also love this game because it is only really for Nintendo DS and not for PSP (FINALLY!!! A game that isn't for PSP and Nintendo DS at the same time!)
