Nintendogs

Okay, so I just got Nintendogs today. I soon fell in love with a yorkie named Trixie. The first thing you do is bring your new puppy home. After deciding a name, you call it that a million times (A few times too many if you ask me), then when your dog learns it's name, you enter the name on the keypad. After that, you go through the same process with "Sit". After your new pal learns that, your on your own. Go into supplies and under care, you'll find a care book on training, telling you how to show your dog other commands. Beware, your dog can only learn about 3 tricks a day. You also get some food, a collor and a few toys. I suggest feeding your dog the food that's given to you, and then buy lots at the discount store on your walk. One thing about walks, I found the map drawing a little hard. It is difficult to make straight lines, and the first time I didn't draw the entrance to the discount store right, so I had to wait a half an hour to try again. Also, don't worry about missing presents, I have only gotten 1 present and missed the other 2.

P.S. If you have never used a DS before, it's okay. I never had used a DS before, and now know how to work it like a pro.

Good luck with your new friend! :)

Fun, entertaining, great for your kids who aren't ready for a real dog!

I love this game! Remember the virtual pet craze a few years back? When everyone had these little black and white egg shaped keychain thingies? Nintendogs is like that, but a hundred times better!

Now you have can raise realistic 3-d dogs that need cleaning, bathing, walking, playing, and more.. They even go potty! If it were only this easy to clean up after a real dog... I really like how you use the ds's microphone to teach the dogs tricks. You can use the touch screen to pet your dog and to give him a bath. It's simple, nonviolent fun that teaches a little bit of responsiblity.

The good:

Great graphics, realistic dog actions, fun game, inovative use of the microphone and touch screen--good clean fun! I can't stress enough how great it is to see that most DS games are games that I'm happy to let my neice and nephews play. Thanks Nintendo!

the bad:

I'm an adult gamer and I think I'll tire of it easily, but my 11 year old neice loves it. I guess if you're not into having a virtual pet, the game will lose interest.

P,S. In the other review, the person who said wait for the PSP version doesn't know what he's talking about. This will be a DS only game! Nintendo making games for the PSP-ha, ha, ha!

Definitely not what it's hyped up to be...

I was looking forward to the release of this game for various reasons, but mainly because it looks innovative, original, and fun. I had read the reviews on here, and so many people had given the game such high praise so I decided that it must be worth it. When I played, though, I was disappointed: 1) The voice controls are unfulfilling. You have to be in an ABSOLUTELY QUIET environment for the system to even pick up what you said, and I mean even if there are other people in the room having a quiet conversation and you try to give the dog a command, it will not pick it up correctly. It's true, though, that that's really the DS system's fault and not the games. However, it greatly impedes the game. Furthermore, if other people want to play it, they can't use the voice controls because it only recognizes your voice. Some people view that as a pro, but I see it as a con. (2) You can't have more than one file. It seems that almost every game has a selection of saved files you can choose from, but not this one. When you start the game, it immediately takes you to your dog, and there are NO file options whatsoever. (3) I just don't see where the fun in the game lies. To me, scratching the screen with a stylus repititiously to pet the dog just gets boring. Yes, you can enter your dog in competitions and take them for walks, but the dog has to have moderately long intervals between each walk/competition to "rest". Likewise, your dog can only learn a certain amount each day, and by learning I mean learning certain commands. You do reach a point where you're stuck with nothing to do but pet the dog, and a lot of people have commented that they play with this game "for hours on end", but I just don't understand HOW.

That aside, the game is realistic, but if you wanted something realistic, why don't you just get a real dog? To me, this idea just doesn't work as a game. People argue that The Sims is the same concept, but The Sims is totally different: you can do illimitable amounts of ventures and actions in that game. You're really confined when it comes to Nintendogs. But hey, if you like scratching screens over and over, then this just might be for you.

PSP version...poop free?

Ok... lets start off with the reviews saying there is going to be a PSP version of NINTENDOgs.... all of us DS people know there is not going to be one but all you PSP fanboys just won't give up. There is never going to be one!!! Are you forgetting that to play this game you use the MICROPHONE and the TOUCH SCREEN. There is never going to be one PERIOD!

Omg that review made me laugh..Poop free??? Ok... Its not like you have to get the pooper scooper pick it up and clean the sidewalk! Even then it would still be simple. All you do is touch it and goes in the bag. Whats so bad about that???

You don't have to rate my review.
Anyways Love the game!!

At first I expected this game to be like any other, because I haven't played the DS before...but after a couple of minutes I was hooked I couldn't even believe the graphics. At first you are in the kennel and there are six starter breeds. You pick your dog and go home. Then you meet the point of teaching it its name. It takes a several times but if you say it clearly and loudly it'll learn it in just a few trys (try not to put your face right on the microphone try to say at the distance that you play the game)You can teach three tricks a day and enter your dog in contests 3 times a day. There is also bark mode where you can connect with other real life owners within a 100 ft distance. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because I don't like how you have to wait 30 minutes between walks.

Cute, Adorable and Fun!!!!!

This game is so much fun. The puppies are absolutely adorable and very realistic. You get to enter them in contests, take them for a virtual walk, teach them tricks, bath them, and play with them. What makes this game so incredible, is that these dogs look so real, and they respond to voice commands that I give. In order to unlock other dogs in this game, you have to get "trainer points," which allows you to unlock a schnauzer, beagle, miniature pinscher, toy poodle and some others. All the dogs are given names; my first chihuahua's name is Lola, and she responds to my calling her as there is a small microphone on the Nintendo DS itself. You have to work really hard at teaching some of the tasks as sometimes, like real puppies, the puppies won't obey. You also have to groom them, feed them, and give them water or they don't respond at all. This game is great for all ages, and hours and hours of fun. Do yourself a favor, and spend the money to get this game. There are other games in the series that start off with different dogs, like labradors or dacshunds, so there is variety for everyone.

I think this game is fun for kids who can't get a dog. The dogs are very realistic and can act almost exactly like a real dog. You can have up to 8 dogs, so choose carefully. If you want to get more, you go to the kennel where you got your first dog. You name your dog, then you can give it an accessory so you can tell them apart. You can get over a hundred special items for caring for your dog, playing with your dog, accessories for them, and some junk, too. To get special items, you can buy them at the store and find them on walks. Here are two helpful tips: 1) When you are on walks, if the little dog symbol on your walk chart on the top screen stops, pull back on your dog's leash and the dog will grab the present. 2) If you have 8 dogs, and there is one you can't care for anymore, you can donate it to the dog hotel where you keep your dogs when you have more than 3, then you can get a different dog at the kennel. I think Nintendogs Chihuahuas is one of the best choices because there are so many of some of the best dog breeds. Good luck with your new life with a dog! Alex

At first my sister this game. She played all the time. I soon got jelsose and started to save my money to get the game my self it took my 1 1/2 months to save but i did. At first i was disoppointed with the "walk" mode. But soon my walk got bigger and I became hooked. This game had everything! Their were two ways to earn money, selling "walk" items and compitions,Ways to teach the dogs tricks, cool collors and accersories, ways to play with your dog and even ways to pet your dog. This game is one of my favorite DS games. The best part is unlocking new dogs. Everyone deserves this game.
