The first pet simulator that really explores pet ownership

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 309 / 358

First off, some of the reviews on this product is astonishing, this game's rating is being brought down because of senseless opinions, not on gameplay. This is a game, it has nothing to do with adopting homeless pets from the shelter, someone could say the same thing about the Sims. So if you played the Sims should you go out and adopt a homeless person or adopt a child? This game was created to bring joy to the person who plays it, I would even recommend it for anyone who is thinking about owning a pet, but don't want to get in over their heads. Some people are allergic to dogs, so this is a great way to "pretend". It is a very innovative and thoughtful game, I see that a lot of time and study of canine personality went into the development process. I think this game is wonderful and I hope to see more from this genre of games, you definitely will not be disappointed!

ACTUAL Review of a Nintendogs Owner.

Oi! Tired of those "get ths gam., it rox" Reviews? Look no further. Hi, I am a Dog/Nintendog owner, just usin' the kiddie review system. I'll tell of the pros, cons, gameplay, graphics, and replay value of the game.

Pros:
Very good graphics-My Shetland Sheepdog looks like a real Sheltie pup!!

Contests- Disc,Obedience, and Agility!!

Own up to 8 dogs- 3 in the house, and 5 in the hotel centre.

Here's the kicker: All game breeds unlockable in EVERY version!!

Cons:
Teaching the pup her name/new tricks *can* be frustrating

Only 3 Contests may be entered daily.

Only 2 ways to make money, selling items via the Secondhand Shop, and Competition.

Graphics: Perfect 10/10- Crisp and Lifelike

SFX: 9/10- You can even hear the noise of city life outside the window!(cars, sirens, and barking)My only peeve is that there's no soft BG music. That's where it loses that point.:)

Gameplay: Perfect 10/10 It's good for a young'un who you think isn't ready for a dog. Heck, I'm 13, and I'm hooked!

Replay Value: 9/10 Yup. It's official. Sunday night: Let's watch college ball, Fred! -- Can't! Gotta feed Fido!

Average: 10/10

There ya go. Helpful? Thanks.

This was my first game for my Polar White DS and I was obsessed. I'd never played any other pet stimulation games before, and I loved it. There's are some pros and cons though.

Pros:
-Exellent graphics
-Cool use of microphone
-Bark Mode is cool
-Not challenging, just fun
-Realistic (for example, your dog gets hungry, thirsty, and dirty when you don't take care of it)
Cons:
-Gets boring after a while
-Voice recegnition unclear, takes a while
-Not many things to do

Hope you found this helpful. :D

A kids review

This is a very cool game. It was a little hard at first, but once you were finished training it got easier. I recommend this for kids that know how to read because there is a lot of reading to do. You can go shopping. You can do contests with your dogs, not to mention that you earn money from them. This is one of the best games ever made.

Entertaining, fun to play with, and with some social value

I couldn't resist the "little puppy in your hand" game for the new Nintendo DS. I bought the DS 3 weeks ago, and gave in to the Nintendogs a few days later. This is less a game than the software class that Maxis' founder called "software toys." You buy, care for, train, and play with your own puppy, or group of puppies. S/he learns tricks, gets attached to you, needs care, and also develops within the parameters of the program. Over the days that you play the program, you will be rewarded for caring well for your puppy (grooming, feeding, training, affection), and I suppose you'll see negative results for neglecting your digital pet.

In the two weeks that I've had "Lucy," we've played ball, entered disc competitions (to earn money to buy her supplies), played with other dogs at the park, gone on walks, et cetera. As I type this, the DS is on with "Lucy" playing idly in the "living room" with one of her toys, a tennis ball, following a fun trip to the park to practice disc catching and frolic with some other dogs.

Is it worth $28? Sure, if only because it superbly shows off the new DS' dual screen, wireless, microphone capabilities. It's also an infectious demo for friends and coworkers. The 3D rendering and real-time display is amazing (to this old school fart, who grew up on BASIC and 8-bit processors). On the "home screen," you can use the controls to move your camera around and view your puppy. If nothing else, the wireless "bark mode," in which your dog meets and interacts with your friends' Nintendogs on their DS handhelds, will make you want to encourage your pals to get one of these, too. In all, great fun and suitable first title to get for a new Nintendo DS.

fun game, gets boring after a while.... by Alyssa T. (Virginia, USA)

hi.
I've had this game for a few months now, and it's really great. The dogs are adorable, and I love playing fetch with it. The competitions are pretty cool, I don't like the announcers though. They're dumb and don't know what they're talkin' about. My best friend loves it too.
But, I think, after a few weeks of playing the game, it gets kinda boring. You do the same things over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I just think it gets boring after a while. Especially if you play it for 2 hours a day.
But, this game rocks, and if you don't find it boring, then that's fine with me. Just givin ya'll my opinion.

Nintendogs is a great game. It uses all of the DS's functions. The dogs look pretty good but i thought that the backrounds could have been more detailed. At first this game is a bit slow because your dog can't walk and u dont have many items but, as soon as you can get your dogs to win contests and walk far it is very enjoyable. The are so refreshing because every one of them has some cool characteristic(Ex. rubber mushroom bounces all over the place, rocket ship zooms across the room, frisbee spins around).

Pros:
-the dogs act like real dogs
-the toys are so fun to play with
-the dogs look good
-walking dogs around the town is a blast
-Caring for your dog is fun
-Dog's AI is good same with their personality
-lots of dogs and coloration of dogs
-this game has great rewards for good trainers

Cons:
-backrounds could have been detailed more
-teaching your dogs commands and getting them to fully understand them gets somewhat frustrating(minor problem)

I give it a 9.3 out of 10 don't pass this one is a must-buy for all ds owners and dog lovers.

Ps. All dogs are unlockable in all version plus if yo ufind a fireman hat you unlock the dalmation.

Extremely addicting

After a hard day of work, you sit down with your cup of coffee, totally exhausted. Unfortunatly, your dog is starving, so you feed him so food, then give him some milk. You can tell he wants to go for a walk... so you gladly do it...

In Nintendogs!

Nintendogs is a cute little puppy simulator, only the heartless could not simply love this game. Whenever you call for your dogs, they eagerly jump on the screen, and rest their paws on the screen. It is so adorable! You can train your dogs to have stamina by walking all over the town every half hour. Who knows, a surprise just might await you! You can train your dogs in the gym (there is nothing more heart-wrenching then seeing your dog terrified of the hurdles), and practice speed by catching with a frisbee... it does take a while to get the hang of making the correct swiping motion to give your dog a good toss though. You can bathe your dogs when they get dirty, and if they're super clean, they actially will be sparkly for a while. If they're dirty, ticks and fleas will hop off of their fur. With six dogs to choose from, and many more to unlock, this game is totally worth your money!

(BUY IT)

The video game nintendogs is so cool! Because it teaches you responsibility to feed your dogs. You have to play with them and walk them. Competitions aren't that hard accept for two things. In the competitions the judges are annoying especially Archie. He says a crazy thing about my dogs.He sometimes says he looks like me in my younger days! When you win competitions you can walk longer and your level goes higher. (YOU HAVE TO BUY IT!)

Best game ever!!!!!!!!!

This is a very good game. At first, you go to a Dog shelter and you get to pick any dog youi want out of the six species the version comes with. Then you get to take your dog home with you and name it using the microphone in the DS. Then you teach it sit and after that you can do anything you want with your dog!!! You can enter it in up to three competitions a day and you can teach it up to three tricks a day, but sit doesn't count because you HAVE to teach your dog sit in the beginning of the game. You can also go shopping and take your dog for a walk. When you are taking a walk, you may pass a present on the sidewalk. Right after you pass it, pull your dogs leash backwards and it should notice it and bring it to you. THIS GAME IS NOT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!! Oh, and by the way, when you are telling your dog to sit, or whatever command you taught it, try to say it the same way as when you were teaching the dog that trick. I hope you like the game!! I know I do!!
