Great game only getting better

I have been playing this game since it's day of release. It by far is one of the most addictive and impressing computer games I have found to date. I like playing DoD, BF1942 and others, but this game offers what those cannot. A completely persistant world of conflict. Realistic models and damage models. The sheer size of the game is awe inspiring at the very least. It's the only game I've ever played that keeps me addicted toplaying more and more. Well worth the monthly fee and cheaper if you pay for 3 or 6 month blocks of membership.

Cons: Graphics are out dated. It's not a bad looking game, but it's not quite as cinimatic as others out there at the moment. MOHAA/BF1942 -- this however is a direct result of WWIIOL having a 3km view distance while those games maybe have a 1/4km.
For new players, learning how to control vehicles can be a challenge. CRS makes you drive the tank. You must turn the tank on. Put it in gear, press the accelerator. BF1942 has the always-on tanks and nothing more complex than that.

This game is NOTHING of what it was upon release. It's stable, complex, engaging and despite what the nay-sayers do say -- it's doing just fine subscription wise. Their's always action to be found at any given moment.

Give it a chance if your thinking about it. It's well worth it.

My whole life, or at least the past 5 years i have searched the earth for this exact kind of game. Where elsa can you play with and against 10,000 other REAL people in an online persistant environment. This isnt just a WWII infantry SIM, or a WWII Tank sim, or WWII Flight sim, but ALL mixed into one. This summer when i had the time i found myself playing 10 hours a day, SERIOUSLY. It is simply incomprehensible the greatness of this game.

Havign been a FPS fan my whole life, I planned on playing Infantry....but soon started to drive tanks also. One night i decieded to fly. I was BLOWN AWAY. It was the best time of my life. I preceded to join what is called a "squad", or a squadren. This was a skilled group of individuals who flew theie aircraft historically, and professionally. We talked to eachother with voice-over-net programs and it was just like really being there. You had a wing man, flew in real formations, escorted bombers, and engaged in heart pounding hair raising dog fights.

Words cannot describe my love for this game...

I give it four stars. It really got me interested. The fact that all the players are human is great. And no lag at all. I was really suprised. I had read all the bad reviews, and I had some bad vibes out getting the game. But when all was said and done, I very much enjoyed it and still do. The latest version (166?) is great and the graphics are good. Much improvement overall. If anybody out there is thinking of buying this game. Dont listen to the users who post 5 star and 1 star reviews. There are people who hate the game and there are people who love it. I fall in the latter. I do enjoy this game. I would recommend trying it. The cornered rats are very good people and they help alot with problems. The game has unlimited entertainment value but I only have a few misgivings.
1) There is not alot of people
2) Equipment variety is somewhat lacking. I can think of 4 tanks off the bat that need to be added. And not to mention a french airforce
3) Playnet forums are just a place for losers to cry "Bias" to the allies
4) No navy

Thats my review. Ill stick to it. I recommend trying it the free week. If ya dont like it, return it.

Awesome

This game promises to be one of the most interesting releases this year, but is it living up to this promise? The game retails for around..comparable to other games in the online market (in fact better than some), but to play you need to spend an extra.. The WW2 on-line site clams that the cheapest price for an on-line game.. Any Diablo2 fans will know that there are free games out there. Paying for online games is a matter of preference. If the game is worth it, it is worth paying the monthly subscription. This game does look worth the fee.

Many of us have been eagerly waiting for the release date so that we can get on line and play. Here are some features of the game I dislike. Our dependance on the web server, and my two biggest disappointments.

Firstly we need to log on and register..to play.I have found (and many of my contacts have agreed) that [the] siteis unstable. When I can connect (once every five tries) I can't log in or register. In fact I've only been able to connect to the secure registration and login site once. I have had no response from the trouble shooting staff.

Secondly the war has not started. Despite the software being availablle, the server for the theatre of war will not start fighting until July.

These problems can be rectified, and I look forward to actually being able to play the game.

This game is awesome-shame on those with no patience

This game is rivetting. The gameplay is great and the graphics are very good. The whole concept of this game is mindblowing and carried out well by the game creators. Those of you complaining about the servers just have no patience and possibly no life. You act like every other online game has worked the first day it came out, come on now you know that isn't true.

To the older sim crowd

First off most of these people havent played the game, dont own it, or are just whining cause they cant get in the game. Now with the launch of the game they did have a rough start. But what about UO (Ultima Online) that had a crappy start and look at the game now. Come on a 70MB file isnt that big, get a program like Go!Zilla or Get Right, and you dont thave to do it all at once. Now to the good stuff, i've been playing this game since day 1. The first couple days were harsh and now alot of the bugs are worked out and the game does play a hell of alot better. Weather ur driving a tank, flying a plane or just shooting at trees, this game rules. One of the coolest things about the game is the ability to have multi crewed vehicles; lets take a tank for instance, one guy in the turret, the tank commander, driver, and co-diver, it gets awesome. the stuka dive bomber even has a tail gunner position, how cool is that. Those of you getting bad frame rates; tweak ur machine! I'm on an Intel Celeron 500, 192 MB's RAM, and ive got all the way up to 51 fps, when not in a major conflict i get and average of 27 fps and in a big fight i get about 15 fps....

Notice to All "If you have patience buy this game, new patches are being release about once a week, and each one makes the game run better and better". And for those of you who dont have any patience, go back to CS. cause in the coming months CS will become obsolete (with this game out, TF2, Unreal Warefare, and Medal of honor coming out) and CS has become just rehashed over and over. This game does kick assand will only get better.

Let the fight begin...

Sitting on my Opel, smoking the last cigaret while looking anxiously for enemy air-crafts in the sky. The guy next to me - I think his name is Hans or Kurt - arrived to our Division only this morning. Man, I hate the thought about losing all these new guys to the enemy. I only hope, that they will last a couple of days, giving them the stamina and swift skills needed for survival in the field. All the sudden the sturdy sound from the Opel's engine, is becoming vaque, as another sound takes over. "SPIT INCOMING 11 O'CLOCK". The Opel driver makes a harsh turn and are aiming for the near treeline in the faint hope of avoiding the 'eye in the sky'. While we count the seconds, the Opel is getting nearer safe ground, and we get ready to exit the vehicle. Just a few more yards, then we'll be safe... The Spitfire enters a steap dive, and starts spraying his rain of lead. "Phew, missed me..." I think... Then I take a look to see if my buddies are hurt - They all seems pretty okay, except for one: The new guy... He is lying very dead on the ground, and I hate myself for thinking "Oh no, not another letter to a grieving family - I only wish, I had taken the time to learn his name...".

Oh well, he can always re-spawn at the Forward Base - But it was a shame, his first run should end like this. Better take care of him on the next run...

Sounds thrilling? Then get your butt into the game, soldier - You comrads in arms are waiting for you!

I have been playing this game for over a year now. It had a problematic release June, 2001, but since I have been playing it has improved greatly.

The current version is 1.76, the game producers have been upgrading and adding new features, new towns, at a pretty good clip, about once a month. The infantry is about to get a overhaul in v1.8, new animations and textures. A 1941 vechicle set is about to be released soon also.

There is a large supply of different Tanks, Bombers, Fighters, Infantry, Anti-Tank, Anti-Air, Transport vechicles, and Armored Cars. It is just amazing that I am playing with 1000's of people from all over the world at the same time in a half-scaled Europe.

And it still is the best computer game I have played. Most games keep my interest for about 3 weeks.
Not This one.
Check It out.<...
