Just the best everything..

Long on idea, short on execution

I really, really wanted to like this game. It's easily the best idea I've seen in the last decade. Imagine a game that simulates the entire scope of the Second World War - ground, sea, and air. Very cool.

Sadly, the game itself doesn't measure up to the idea. First, there are staggering hardware requirements that still don't provide smooth enough framerates for air-to-air combat at all times, numerous problems with the network and servers, and a log-in mechanism that requires your browser (eating up even more resources). But worse than all those are the damaged physics models (the tanks feel like they are made of styrofoam) and the fact that real-life tactics don't work while gamey tactics do work.

Having said all that, this game still has promise. I'd keep an eye on it, and if they are still in business in a year or two, it might be worth another look.

Massive improvements

This game rocks now and the FPS probs have been resolved! I now get up to 80 FPS as infantry in battle and flying is much smoother.

New weapons and vehicles have been introduced and the awkward infantry controls have been reworked!

Fantastic and truly immersive PvP. Not for avid "have a quick go counterstrike players" though. This game takes effort and time but is infinitely more rewarding than a standard FPS.

It sound like a good game, but do not purchase. Your system will freeze after the first time you die; it will take forever to load; and you will not be able to get help. Counter Stike still is the best game for the buck, but try this one if your feeling bored and need to pull out your hair.

Patience is necessary for 1st month.

This game is going to be the best massively multiplayer game out there, but if you buy this game please realize that it might take a few weeks to get it up and running on your system. Do not expect this to be like your normal shoebox game that you can stick in your computer and play as it will take some time before the developers can tweak everything to perfection. Expect the servers to be down/full. Expect the offline play not to work. Expect the websites to be down. Buy at least 256MB of RAM & have 32MB vid card. If you can be patient and work with the support team, then buy the game now: you may luck out and it might work for you. If not, wait a month and buy it in July when everything should be working correctly. But realize that eventually, everything will get fixed and be up and running and you will be there at the begining of this wonderful wonderful game.

give them some time

what a joke. i am still waiting for this game to come out, but there are 5 reviews here. hmmm, smells like little kids talking about something they know nothing about; and that is if the GAME is good or not. they seem to understand the IDEA behind the game is good, but they know NOTHING of if the GAMES ITSELF is good.

for those readign this, the game is supposed to come out around the 6th of June. do not buy it based on these "reviews", wait for it to come out and for mags to review it.

i rated it a big fat 1, to help balance out what these reviewrs have done here.

This game Kicks! You can be an Infantryman,Tanker, Pilot, Salior and everthing in-between! Timeline is from 1940 France until the end of the war! Use all the WWII Weapons. Fight fro Germany, Britian, France, or America(later in the war)! Once the war's over it starts again. Beware: There is a monthly fee. It's the price to pay for the best!

WWII Online is a great WWII sim. It's not the active running around Quake fest that BF1942 is, which is an unbelievable unrealistic game. It's a MMOFPS. Which stands for massively multiplayer online first person shooter. The world exists even when you log out and go to bed. Log in the next day and see the progress your side has made. In BF1942 when everybody logs out, the very small part of the world you were playing in vanishes and you start over from scratch when you play again.
WWII Online does have poor graphics by today's standards, but due to that it will run on lower end machines. I have run it on a few different computers since release and it has always run very well with no lag at all.
That said, this game is a sim. You may log in and not be right in the action. The action may be miles away. You get organzied with your teammates, setup a strategy and move out to your target. It's not an easy game, it takes time and patience. But it can be a very rewarding and fullfilling experience. The game takes place in Europe which has been recreated in 1/2 scale, so the world is massive. And all vehicles, aircraft and ships are recreated very accuratly. The flight sim is one of the most realistic ones available. So if your looking for a realistic WWII sim then this is the game for you.

anybody see a pattern here?

If you bothered to read the many reviews of this game you may have noticed that playability and satisfaction are a crap shoot.
no rhyme or reason to it, some folks get great frame rates while others (do not), this seems to be independant of system specs or connection speed, I only had an average of 13-15 fps and I have cablevision (top of the heap on dsl reports) and over 400mb of ram in my p3 633mhz system.
You may also notice overly fervent fanboys assualting anyone who grumbles about their problems (paid booster club?, free membership for flaming naysayers?)
Short of it is CRS lied about the game.

pros.
It is a great idea and very fun to play, if you can run it.
It does take some skill to survive, expect to die for the first month at least.
Team aspect while slim is workable tho cooperation is a bit lacking.

Cons.
Might not work for you.
no supply, no front, a town can fall to 1 infintry unit.
graphics on the ground are buggy (see through mountains, flagging ect.)

support and docs are lame.

too many odd assorted bugs to list.

in closing, its a great idea but it dont work just yet, perhaps some day but not today.
