Best Online Game out there

I bought this game about a week prior to it's online debut. I have stuck with it through good times and bad. The current version 1.7 is the best ever. It takes advantage of dx8.1 and the graphics have improved significantly. The main advantage of this game over others is that its not in any way scripted. The players determine the fate of the game. The only computer driven components are being weakened over time. I see some of the reviews say that there is a lack of players. Well a nubie isn't the best person to give a review. I have tried alot of the online games and this far exceeds others in the most important category...you don't get bored with it over time. This is attributed to the lack of scripted outcomes, its not just another run around killing everyone you see game. You must use strategy and team work to survive in this game. But the game does support the loners by giving them vehicles like air that don't require support from others. The patches also add vehicles and tweek gameplay over time to continually improve the situation. Bottom line..buy the game, its well worth the time and money.

Blitzkrieg needs massive fixes to live up to advertisements

I downloaded the free Gigex trial period and played it nightly for two weeks. I joined a squad and downloaded an IP chat program for near real-time voice communications with others in your squad (3rd party utility). ... Tanks are a blast although key mapping needs drastic improvements and tanks need some sort of more rapid "look-see" such as opening the hatch. Overall graphics and frame rates for me were excellent on the ground with occasional lock ups and weird audio problems with game sounds.

Flying is a disaster. Not only does the flight model stink but the frame rate over densely active areas with lots of players and graphics drops frame rates to unbearably slow rates, expect 10-12 FPS even with ultra speed connections. I run a 1MB Cable Modem and pay extra for 256K upload and my frame rates stink in the air, so bad that I cannot hardly win a dogfight and I am a pilot for real!

Overall the game is very exciting and has tons of potential but paying for the game and then paying for a monthly subscription is not going to happen for me at this point as I do not feel the game is ready for the public yet. ... Want to play it? You'll need at least a 1Ghz machine with high speed internet access such as DSL (ISDN would be way too slow). Modem play is a joke, even at 56K. You will need at least 128MB RAM but 256 or 512 would be much better! You will aslo need screaming graphics, at least 32MB video card. I have a Radeon 8500 32MB and it is pretty good. GeForce4 would be much better. 17" monitor would help. Maybe the developers will add multi monitor support in the future, say 3 monitors for front, left and right. Bottom line, great fun and great frustration too, play at your own risk. Just dont cry when you have to go out and upgrade your PC just to get minimal performance on this game. Gargantuan MipMapping and texturing files, massive cross communications and opponent tracking, lagging kills and dissapearing tanks and troops are common. Chances are if your the fastest PC and connection, you'll win in battle. Worth a look but don't pay for it yet for god sakes!

It needs some work, but CRS has already accomplished much that the big companies havent. I really dont enjoy any of my other flight sims or FPS games anymore after playing it, they seem small and boring!

Where do I start?

No scoring system whatsoever. No objectives whatsoever. Everything is a tank battle because the framerates are so poor in aircraft, nobody uses them. Infantry are so lame and lacking in effective weapons, there's almost no point to them. Add to that the fact that you can't even coordinate a RIDE from somebody without the poor driver being stuck as the driver, you can't FIND anybody that is willing to drop troops.

Worst code I've ever seen. It's got to be the sloppiest, most ill-conceived graphics engine ever written (in Visual Basic). Not only is it [...]-ugly, it's as slow as molasses on the fastest systems. If there was any eye candy at ALL the graphics engine would probably just give up and die on the spot. Was NO talent hired to work on this title?

Key mappings. Oh - my - god. How about 3 completely separate keystrokes just to rise, ready, aim and fire a weapon. Their excuse is that it's "realistic". Yeah so are 2D monitors, 90 degree fields of view, 2D sound and speaking with a keyboard. What's your point CRS? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Countless 3D shooters have playing the part of an infantryman down pat. Couldn't you LEARN something from it? You had to make it "better"? I guess that's why nobody wants to even bother with infantry in your "virtual battlefield".

Don't bother people. Somebody will eventually get it right, but it's not gonna be Cornered Vermin Software.

It could be the best ever but........

Once you actually get this game to load, and wait again for it to load some more and load yet another time, you will find this game EXTREMELY buggy and laggy. I have played other on-line games and this is the worst yet. Load times are just ridiculous. Not mention how often you will loose the connection and have to LOAD it all over again! This has real potential but they need to take lessons from DFLW,Everquest and etc, once all the bugs are gone and keys are more configurable (this games Hates Feedback)this could be the best online game ever.

This is the best game I have ever played of WW2 it is so real and you get the feeling of how WW2 was. It sometimes is scary because you are afride that when you are walking in night time that there is a Nazi looking at you getting ready to fire at you.

be prepared to be frustrated

This game is horrible. The box for this game lies about the system specs. I have 256 megs of ram and a T1 line, which are both insufficent to play this game. I have talked to other players online and they said that for the game to run smoothly at least 500 megs of ram are needed. Plus, the game itself has graphics of a snes game and consist of nothing but tank battles. It takes about ten minutes for the game to load and sometimes it takes thirty minutes to find where people are actually fighting. The most frustrating thing about this game is the fact that a joystick is required and it says nothing about that on the outside of the box. So using a plane or a tank is not possible.

I love this game and im addicted to it. What other game can you fly a spit swoop down on a panzer III or carry infantry to a near by town for an attack, or be a german sniper taking out allied troops one by one while you sit in a church tower and its all controlled by humans. Thats right no trick plays no doing the same move over and over and cheating the computer. Thats right folks you against me mono y mono. If you can swallow the big 65mb pacth at the begining of the game then your pretty much can put up with the small defects like ...... bad frame rate, or an ocasional bug or two. But they are working on it. The game is so competitive between the players. If by chance you are invited to a squad it makes the game more strategy wise. You can talk to other teamates online, web pages, bullitin boards etc. This game will get better with time there will be so many more units to choose from in the futureSo lets recapp good all around fun ok!!!!!! Some of the units you can be right now: planes:spit, hawk75,bf109,junkers inf: british smg, rifile, french smg, rifile, german smg, rifile Tanks: panzerIII, Mark 75, Char, and 2 other light tanks i cant think of. You can choose from a variety of weapons. The game also changes into day, night, morning, sun set, sun rise. Well all i have to is this is a good game the controls are not hard GET A JOYSTICK if you dont have one hehehe i have 2 myself a game pad for the tank and a force feedback2 for flying but thats me. Well thats it i guess get the game its only going to get better. Im sure youll be excited just as i am. Peace out!!
