An Awesom Game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

I loved this game so much! The day that I recieved a PS2 I ordered this game, and later the guide. There are some hard parts, and I was slightly disappointed at how cheesy the films were, but it was still really fun.

Best game EVER!

Sora wishes to escape his little hometown of Destiny Island, and when he does, he finds himself in Traverstown. He meets Donald and Goofy, and together they plan to visit other worlds to "lock" them to prevent the evil Heartless from conquering the universe, and find beloved King Mickey.

I really loved the Final Fantasy series, and I knew I'd love this game. It is great! Graphics are awesome! All 3D and nearly crytal clear (considering ths game was made in 2002). It's music is probably better than the Final Fantasy series (for the most part), and I also like the idea of this game adopting a more actiony battle method. You are free to roam the any worlds of your favorite Disney characters (as well as meeting Final fantasy characters) and lock the worlds in almost any order you choose. Weapons are pleanty as well as magic abilities. One more thing, there are two skill levels to set this game to, easy and hard.

Apart from the actual story, there are many side-quests to accomplish. As you explore, you have the option of rescuing 99 of the 101 Dalmations (33 chests in all), finding all little Mickey head marks known as Trinity marks, beating four extremely difficult bosses (including Sephiroth!), and obtaining the Ultima Weapon.

As spectacular as this game is, there are a few minor flaws. The faces of the characters when they talk sometimes fail to show expression. That is definately not major. The camera may spin out a little, but only near a corner. Some worlds are very short (about 3 out of 10-12 worlds), and cutsences are very long and cannot be skipped.

This game, without completing sidequests, will take roughly 24 hours total. It will be much longer with he sidequests, giving this game a pretty fair replay value. Overall, this game is excellent and will NOT dissapoint you. THIS IS A MUST BUY!!!! EITHER THIS GAME OR THE SECOND ONE (comes out in April 2006)! 6 stars (though it only goes to 5)!

finally!

well finally the game is out, after waiting for the longest time!

IGN.com and other magazines give it good ratings and a team-up between Square and Disney have made this game unlike any other rpg before it. It's kind of odd in the gameplay area, but everything else is great and this is definitely not a kid's game! The voice acting and other artistic elements combined together make a beautiful package that displays how it is possible for Disney to actually make a great game, and well Square already makes great games, this is just a new step for them.

Also, don't be fooled by the childlike look of the characters and the fact that Mickey is in the game, just try out the game at your local store or at a friend's house and you'll see how great it is.

The music is also good, especially the main theme, which is perfomed by japanese pop/r&B princess Utada Hikaru (or Hikaru Utada...depending on where you're from...) (recently married :] ). The music is different than that of Nobuo Uematsu's, and it sounds more childlike, but it fits the game perfectly. The different versions of "Hikari" (in the japanese game) and "Simple and Clean" (in the American game) are just perfect for the parts of the game they're in. I own the japanese soundtrack and I have to say, although it is quite different from the recent FF soundtracks, it's still great.

Overall, this game has been one of the most anticipated RPGs lately and there's no doubt about why it's so popular. Pick up this game as soon as you can!

Another phenomenal game for all

Delightful game for all ages - My sons and I delight in Square games, because we can work through them together - a perfect balance of story, problem solving and action. This game has all the wonderful 3D freedom of games like Super Mario Sunshine, the action of a first-person shooter (without the gore), and a plot that will cause nostalgia in parents who loved Disney (while introducing the amazing worlds anew for your children). A couple of nits: the Gummi ship workshop is confusing, and you have to be disciplined enough to look around carefully in first-person view for subtle items that are needed to advance the story. I have the strategy guide, but I'm trying to finish the game without it once, knowing that I'll have great replay value looking for all the hidden things.

The Best Video Game of All-Time!!!

I have been playing video games ever since the oldest of old school systems like the Atari and the original Sega Master System. I have considered Metal Gear Solid for Playstation to be the greatest video game of all-time because of the game unique ability to read your system and give you a very satisfying gameplay experience. Now here comes Kingdom Hearts. In my heart, it is the best video game of all-time. The game goes beyond having a fun factor and becomes a game that you will always love to play. The gameplay reminds you of Zelda, but has its own sense of creativity with magic, summons, and secondary characters to back you up. What drives the game is the magnificent visuals, the soothing music, the fantastic voice acting, and Square's trademark excellent storytelling. Combine all these with the flair of Disney quality entertainment and you've got yourself a masterpiece. This is the best game ever!

This game is an embarrasment to video games and Disney. With todays games, who wants to control movies, its just stupid. Disney needs to stick with making movies and cut it uout with the dorky video games.

I picked up this game only about 2 weeks ago and so far I am half way through the game (including all sidequests) I have only 20 hours of gameplay, so overall it's about 40 hours of frustration and enjoyment. First, let's get the bad things out of the way.
THE BAD:
* Most places are very dark and I had trouble getting through parts (stupid lazy animators)
*Gameplay is really easy (excluding the collesium tournaments)
*You have to go to the little mermaids world, enough said.
*There is only CGI at the begining (or maybe the end, I don't know yet)
*Cutscenes are too long
*Limited replay value(practically no customization)

Now on to the good.
THE GOOD:
*The battle system is the best I've ever seen.
*Final Fantasy characters appear, with some in the main storyline (you don't get to use them though)
*Holloween Town.
*Great graphics
*The collesium is fun

Overall, this games flaws are quite noticable, and draw it back from being great. The other reviews don't tell the whole truth, this game is overrated.

This game is gonna rock! So what if its made by Disney? This is no 2 year old game! Plus it even has people from Final Fantasy. How many toddlers do you know that play Final Fanatsy? This will be one of the best RPG's of all time.

Bleh.

Final Fantasy X hooked me so badly that I was falling all over myself to find out what was waiting around every corner. I loved the characters and the worlds, and I really appreciated the battle system since it required thought and tactics rather than nimble fingers.

Kingdom Hearts, on the other hand, just didn't grab me. The Disney characters bugged me because their design just does not meld well with the anime-style characters. That's probably just my opinion though because nobody else complains about this.

Further, I did not like that many characters' voices were wrong, such as Wakka's, Clayton's, and Hercules'. Haley Joel Osment sounded like he didn't put effort into his role because inflection and emphasis on words in certain sentences was off. Riku had the best voice actor, btw. And the names "Sora" and "Riku" are too overused in Japanes media in general--couldn't they have come up with something else?

Sadly, the side-quests just seemed like chores. I didn't care if I found the dalmation puppies or not. Maybe I'm just heartless (no pun intended), but I felt no inclination to search for them actively. If I stumbled across a few, well whoopdee-doo.

The side-quests weren't the only letdown. The worlds were too small and simple, and flying in the Gummi Ship was tedious and boring (not to mention dumb looking). And Gummi Ship? Even the name bugs.

I liked running into familiar characters (mentioning this since that's what the ad campaign runs on), but only if they were Square characters since the Disney characters, like I said, looked out of place. I got tired of the game after 3 or 4 worlds, and I don't plan on playing it again. It wasn't rewarding, engrossing, intriguing, or exciting. Maybe if I watch somebody ELSE play it and see something better in it, I'll give it another chance. As of now, I'd rather just play FFX again.
