This game blows

I like to play games to enjoy myself, not be maddingly frutrated and criss cross back and forth accross the same sorry city. Read the very first review on this game. This reviewer nailed it. Can't wait to fire Rachet & Clank: Going Commando.

UNPLAYABLE, FRUSTRATING CHEAPFEST

When you start playing this game, you may have the urge to proclaim it one of the greatest games of all time. Not so fast. It would've been, if it wasn't so unplayable. It is the CHEAPEST game of all time. At 50% into the game, I got to a mission I just can't beat, no matter what I do. It just can't be done, unless you have time and patience to retry the same stupid sh** over and over again, for hours, where the slightest misstep will have you back to where you started. This is fun? Another annoying mission has you collecting 17 items. Why 17? Why not 24? How about 24 3/4? 7777? 7 million? They wanted to show how hardcore their game is? Then why they have characters with stupid donkey ears, if this is such a hardcore game? I'd like to ask the morons who made and play-tested this sh**, what were they thinking. I'm tired of garbage that floods the stores. If you want $50 for a game, why not make sure it's playable?

Jax 2 is not as fun as Jax 1

For those who liked the first Jax. This one is compeletely different. The game play is not as fun. Driving around the city between missions gets old and is far to time consuming. Once you get a gun that is all you use, unlike the first jax where it is was fun the fight the bad guys.
So, Don't Buy It if you are looking for the same format that was Jax one.

GTA III engine + Platformer = AWESOME

This game is a must have for those that are looking for a great new synthesis in gaming, and it by FAR the best of the current bunch of new offerings. Intuitive tight controls meet a gta/platforming engine hybrid to create a truly intense game interface. The story and characters are fun and colorful, proving that fun can be packaged without gratuitous gritty realistic violence, which honestly is refreshing. The feel of the game seemless transistions between several genre's shooter, platformer, ski/skateboard hybrid, driving/racing keep you on the edge of your seat without destroying the games immersion or violating the integrity of the plot. The mission structure while still linear does allow for some variation without being overwhelming or leaving the player directionless. The plot is VERY refreshing in a world inundated with poor movie and game knockoffs, Jak had me laughing out loud and truly looking foward to the cut sceens. This game is fairly difficult but every stage can be easily completed with some game puzzle solving skills and some tenaciousness. IMHO it strikes the perfect balance in difficulty... it's engaging and exciting without being ultimately frustrating. The pace is never boaring and the game consistantly supprises, challenges and rewards you. Kudos, naughty dog.

worst game ever.

jak 2 is unbelivably frustrating i HATE IT. the game features bad graphics boring worlds and frustrating setbacks. like the insane difficulty level. heck from the moment you start playing this pile of crud it gets to the point where you cant stand it. its a game where any little inperfectio9n from the player can make them go back where they started. this game has graphics that are very bad they look nothing like the originals. and ahh the wonder the city WHATS IN THE CITY. the city is a completely empty and insignifigant pile of pedestrians that you have to run over to complete a mission. theres liitle or no direction in the game and the characrthers look [bad.] ITS HARD DONT GET IT YOU WONT EVEN BE ABLE TO GET 25 PERCENT TROUGH IT. i cant stand this horrible excuse for a game i havent been this disappointed since playing spyro enter the dragonfly.

Blood-curdlingly hard!!!

but worth all of the effort. no game prior has ever challanged both my skills and sanity to the extent of this game. and no other developer has dared to throw a game at you and go, "try THIS, suckers!". yes, the game has a high difficulty (try it on HERO mode), but it never comes off as cheap and unfair. yes, you will restart missions over and over and over again, yes you will die repeatedly during platforming sessions and bossfights, and YES you will curse more than you've ever cursed at a game, but you will also enjoy every moment of it, as well as relish the challenge.

the shear number and variety of things to do is refreshing, as is the open-ended (for the most part) mission structure. while it's true that GTA3 invented this format, i always felt that GTA3 was far too open-ended, often bogging down the gameplay and progression to the point where i didn't even care about the story anymore, let alone feel like finishing the game (which i haven't to this day). jak2 doesn't fall prey to this, as it's variety of missions are kept within a structure, only becoming available once other conditions are met.

also, the graphics in this game are amazing. the amount of power ND pulls out of the ps2 hardware is astounding (according to the timeframe the game was released). this game alone proves the the ps2 is not outclassed in the graphics dept, you just gotta know how to USE the hardware, which ND has no problem with.

all in all, this is a spectacular game. naughty dog have proved once again that they are one of the top dev houses in the world.

Great Adventure and Action

Now many video games have a big problem with the sequel to an original. But Naughty Dog does a great job with this baby and they bump up the toughness, story, and all around general atmosphere of this game. Some missions make you want to pull out your hair but after you've done the same mission a million times and finally beat it to go on to the next one, you feel that you deserved it.
Anyone who wants this game has to be a fan of challenge. If that's you then this game is for you. I fell in love with this one after the first mission, and can tell you that this one is not going to collect dust on the shelf.

thank you naughty dog

There are very few games that make me sad when I finish them. I was sad when I finished this game because the story may not get to continue and all the people you were once able to talk to and do things for disappear. I have my fingers crossed in hopes that naughty dog will make another sequel to this great series.
The graphics are flawless. The story is one of the greatest stories told through a video game. The control of Jak and the camera is perfect. The voice acting is spot on. The addition of weapons to the new city falls in nicely. Some people may complain of the lack of weapons but when the weapons are as cool as they are in Jak II you only need four of them.
Some people may argue that Jak II is just a weird combination of Grand Theft Auto and Tony Hawk thrown in with Jak and Daxter. Some people may think this game is trying to be GTA or Tony Hawk. Well after playing the game for a while you realize Jak II isn't trying to be anyone of these games but simply using the best techniques from them to make it better. Yes some missions can be hard and frusturating but the sense of accomplishment you get when completing a rough part in the game gives you the much needed confidence to continue. You need some parts to be hard so you can apply the skills you learned to future missions that may have been harder without those frusturating levels. I am tired of these mindless games that you can beat in a weekend without having to do anything over again.
This game blows Ratchet and Clank out of the water. The platform levels are better, the four weapons are cooler than all 30 in Ratchet and Clank, shooting people is easier and more fun in Jak II, and Jak is just way cooler than Ratchet.
It is great to see the platform genre get a much needed face lift and naughty dog did it perfectly.

Jak 2 beats all!!!!!

Let me start out by saying that if you have never played Jak 2 or are just getting a PS2 stop what you are doing and go buy this game now! The game has endless Pro's and the only con is that it is difficult and that is not even a con for me because I like hard games because they make me feel like I have accomplished something. Also Daxter is Hilarious escpesially alongside Pecker(You will see more of Dax and Pecker in Jak3 as Pecker joins Jak and Dax). This is my favorite game even over Grand Theft Auto and Halo. If you have read to this point you were not listening to what I had to say because I told you to leave and go buy this game. Go now and buy it. You will not regret it!
