For anyone who has played the original Jak and Daxter know that Jak II is a very different game. It's MUCH darker and much harder too. A reviewer in a game mag reported that 'Jak II requires excellence in players'. If you want a game that you can play and enjoy while you're playing it, get Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. If you want a game that will easily frustrate you, get Jak II. Both are rated 'T', but as far as I'm concerned Jak II has it for a more logical reason w/it's realistic guns and bad language compared to Ratchets cartoon-type guns and no bad language. I may try Jak II, but I'm definately buying Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando! Maybe one day gaming companies will realize that not all gamers like games like GTA!

Jak II is the kind of game that rocks your gaming world to the foundations! It takes a couple of levels to get rolling, but after about 30 minutes it is a juggernaut of intense action and gameplay. The graphics are simply astounding, you can't believe the detail of the world Naughty Dog has created. The game is centered around this giant city and it just teams with life and detail. The story is really awesome too, which is not very common for games. And the game is huge. Pretty much, you would have to be dead not to love this game!

I've been playing JakII for over 15 hours and I'm barely 50% complete! Everything about this game is amazing... from the graphics, to the story, to the incredible variety of things to do. Jak now has Dark Powers he can use, weapons, a hoverboard, and a huge city to explore. This is a must have for all PlayStation2 owners and if you don't have a PS2 you should buy one just to play this game!

A friend of mine works at an "unnamed game store" here. We cracked one of these open in the back and played it saturday night until about 4am. All I can say is this is the most awesome, adventure ever!!!! It's like all the cool stuff from your favorite games and then more stuff you've never seen before. The game is so beautiful to look at and the movies are like something done by those guys at Pixar. Some parts of it are really difficult, but hey, that's why it's called a game. I hope to get time tonight to play it even more. I've already got the jones for more of Jak II! Holy Cow!!!!! Get it now or you will be so regretin' it!!!
I can't stop playing this game!

Once I popped this in the PS2 and started playing I was hooked. The story eased me in to the Jak II world and as it progressed, I realized just how big this game really was. The game is big both in size and in plot. You really feel you're playing a small part of something epic. This is an extremely *polished* game with the graphics being the best I've seen on the PS2 and the gameplay worked out to a fine art. I'm one happy gamer and I can't help but to play this over and over to improve my total time :) You'll certainly love replaying this game!
Wow! Sony didn't rest on their laurels.

Jak II is leaps and bounds above its predecessor. The first Jak and Daxter, while beautiful, was simplistic, short, and way too focused on 'collection'. Jak II feels like an entirely different game, and nearly an entirely different genre.
There's almost no collecting to be found here. Instead, you have a huge, dynamic city to explore, populated with vehicles that you can steal (a'la GTA3), guards to fight, and civilians that you can run over and mow down. Yes, mow down - Jak is packing heat this time around, with four different guns (plus upgrades) that you receive as the game progresses. Add a hoverboard to the mix, with the abilities to do Tony Hawk-esque tricks and grinds, and you have a game that is always interesting and fresh.
There are dozens of missions that take place both inside the city and its environs, combining both traditional platforming goodness, gunplay, and puzzle elements. The storyline gives a strong sense of purpose and is brilliantly told through gorgeous in-game cutscenes that themselves are nearly worth the price of admission. The game is much darker in tone than the original, eschewing the original Jak & Daxter's 'kiddy' feel for a gritty setting and more mature content.
The game is long, too. The core game takes can take over 20 hours to complete, and there's dozens of extra missions and secrets to unlock that will keep you entertained for a long time.
And certainly, the game is a graphical tour-de-force, and the best showcase of the PS2's abilities to date. Given JakII's pedigree, this does not come as much as a surprise. But it's about the only thing in this superb game that won't shock people who played the original.
My only complaints: it can be tedious navigating through the city to get to the next mission, and the game is difficult, sometimes frustratingly so. Still, these are minor points at best.
If you like any of the genres that Jak II blends together so seamlessly, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy. Jak II is, quite simply, the best action-platformer to date.

This game is awesome, has to be one of the best action-
platformers I have played, the open ended game play and world
provides to be both challenging and fun. I am glad they "aged"
up the title a bit, to appeal to a wider audience. Everyone
should be playing this game, exceptionally and most definitley a
step foward in the genre.
AWESOME GAME!!!

I've been anticipating the release of this game ever since Jak & Daxter and it hasn't let me down! This game is a huge improvement on an already great Jak & Daxter. The city is absolutely amazing and the challenges are great. There is a huge variety of game play and 20+ hours into the game I've still got hours and hours left to play. Buy this game!!! You won't be disappointed!!

I just bought this game and I must say WOW! what a ride!!! This has to be the best platform adventure game I have ever played! (And I play everything, trust me!) The story is cool, the characters are great (I want an Ashelin game all by her sexy self!) Daxter and Jak are cool too! This game has me missing dinner and much needed sleep it is so much fun! The racing alone will keep me busy for the next month. I must say the dudes at Naughty Dog hit a home run on this one. And people say the platformer is dead!!! I think Naughty Dog just gave that genre a Cardiac Shock treatment!
