Graphics: Visuals are not bad at all. Turns your favorite character into a 3D image. Gameplay: In order to be good at this game, you have to memorize simple combos ranging from two to eight button presses. Then, you have to practice executing them quickly, and learning when to use which combo. This all makes for a very deep fighting system that you will come back to again and again. Replay/Bonuses: This is the best part of the game. After you beat the story mode, which is long in itself for a fighting game, you can play hidden chapters that are not originally available. After that, you can compete in the World Tournaments to earn cash, which can be spent on new moves for your character. Then, try to collect every possible move. Next, you can customize a character and fight your friends with it. As you can see, this game has PLENTY to do. Overall: 8/10

Though the game does have some interesting features such as tournament mode, flying, capsules and others the moves are repetitive. Some move have different names but are exactly the same as someone elses moves. I found the game fun for about five hours then it got boring and repetitive.
I wouldn't recomend buying this game, possibly renting it for a while though.
One of the best of its time......

This game is good. It has alot of good sides and downsides. This game isn't the best fighting game around, so if you don't really care for DBZ and just want fighting, this game is not for you. The controls are alittle hard to get used to, and the story mode is fun, but it takes some practice. This game has the voices from the show, so that's good if you're a DBZ fan. I know I'm a DBZ fan. There's a tournoment mode, but only for 1 player. You start off with only very little charactors, but as you complete chalanges in story mode, you get more charactors. The story mode is the best mode,I'd say. Overall, this game gets a 3/5

Dragonball Z Budokai, in my honest opinion, is the most polished game out of all the Budokai console games. While I say that it's the most polished game, that doesn't mean it is the best(that honor lies in Budokai 3). Dimps went above and beyond their duties to give Dragonball Z fans a game that captures the look and feel of the series. Fans get a chance to relive some of their favorite episodes in story mode and that, in itself, is why I say it is the most polished. There's 23 DBZ characters to choose from, seven modes to try, familiar locations for fighters to fight in....as well as unlockable goodies and more. The one important feature that, I think, makes this game shine is the skill edit feature. With the skill edit feature, players can customize their characters, their fighting techniques, and their abilities(such as healing, etc.). Serious fighting fans and advanced gamers will definitely get into that feature, I assure you.
Story mode, while grand in it's presentation, could have been alot longer that it was. As it stands, though, it was short and sweet & left me wanting more.
This first game showed alot of promise and is a game that not only fighting game fans but Dragonball Z fans will have fun with.
dont play this game

i was really excited when i found out that a new dbz game was going to be released. but i was disappointed. this game doesnt even go all the way through the sagas.i was amazed by the graphics which were great. the levels also dont seem to be to fun either. sure you can blow someone through a cliff and interact with the environment in other ways but its not much different from other fighting games like this. also the game does not have very many different attacks. i love vegeta but i didnt use him much because he doesnt have even half of his attacks that he should have. a lot of attacks are very similar too. the game is also very shallow. you can beat the game in a very small amount of time. there are quite a few characters but the game leaves a lot of them out. but it has almost every main character. enough said, dont buy this game. you could rent it, but expect to return it early because you will get bored. the show still rocks, though.

This is the best game I ever played hopefully you like as much as I do. It is a mix between Mortal Combat, Super Smash brothers, and many other games!! Fight as your favorite DragonBallZ Charechter, and kick the crap out of someone for goodness sake! This game has a very good story line just like the show, you can fight in tournaments blast through the Sayin, Namek, Freiza, Android, and Cell Sagas. Unlock exiting new charecters and fight a freind. This is a must Buy game for all you DragonBallZ Fans!!

I think that this is the best DBZ fighter that is available. They have 23 of the best warriors in the series, they have awesome graphics, and it is multiplayer. One of my few gripes about this game is that you get so many spares of capsules, and you can't sell them back for more money. But, gripes aside, this is one awesome game. Buy it!!
