This game is the greatest of all the Dragon Ball Z video games, including "Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku". It has all your favorites Dragon Ball Z characters, including the Great Saiyaman that you can unlock throughout the game. You can battle from the Vegeta saga to the Cell games. There's 60 combos, and you can trade them by swaping your memory card with your friends! If you're a DBZ fan this game is for you ;).

Finally a Dbz game that is here to stay! I here that you get to be 24 charecters witch should be good and one of those characters is raditz thats a big reason why i'm getting this game radditz is awesome well anyway what i find funny is that Hercule is in this game which tells me infograms has a sense of humor or there amazingly stupid i think hercule's a waist of space if you ask me i also know that you get to become SSJ in the middle of a match wich is very cool and you get to use beams and fly. this game is very much like a remade version of ultimate battle 22 and final bout wich i have played both and they both are very good games. The games one big tournament and you compete in it and you win money and you use that money to buy moves for your player than you keep doing so and make you player as good as he gets than you get another player and get him the best he can get. Im definently getting this game.

dbz.....you don't even have to think before buying this game

This will be the game of the year. Instead of you having to choose the characters before you battle,(well you still have to)but what I mean is that instead of starting out as a super saiyan, you can do that when ever you fell like it. There will be 23 playable characters, 6 game modes, and nine battle grounds. The graphics are awesome especially the energy blasts they do. If your a DBZ fan, this is the game for you. The game comes out at December 6,2002 so be ready to stand in line.

Based on what I heard about this game it seems like a must buy game.I mean it is one of the first that can be seen in a telivision screen.Oh come on DBZ fanz of coarse "Legacy of Goku" was great and all but it's short and you can only see it through a small screen. You must try Budokai for the fun of it.I haven't tried it yet but it looks great. You don't even have to buy it but at least rent it.

Great DBZ game But.....

Ok,Lets get started. This game is pretty good for a DBZ game. If you just looking for a good fighter I suggest elsewhere.
There is basicly 7 modes Story, practice,WorldTourny,Duel mode,Hercule,Editer, and options. On story mode its pretty basic. Youre first time around you play as Sayiana and unlock a couple of characters. Youll fnd it dissoted if youre not fammiler with DBZ. Fans will know obviously though. You go there Android,Namek and Satyian in story mode.It goes through Raditz to cell. With small cinemas. Practice is as it suggests.World Tournement is to earn oney and buy capsules wich I will explain later. Its Adebt Novice and Adavanced. Advanced is basicly SUPER hard. When you beat adept and advance you can buy Hercule and Great Sayiaman.Duel is just a 2 player mode or you pick who you wanna fight.Hercule is a survivor mde as you play with Hercule through wonderfull matches. Editor is my favorite option alowwing you to cutomize a Z- warrior.
Graphics is so so not bad but not good. For PS2 it could have been better. Characters are good 3-d shaded. Sound has ok music and orginal AMERICANN voices.
Capsules is basiclly moves you get. Without capsules you cant do anything. But you can easily get them by beating story 3 times and get tons. If you wish with the Dragon Balls three characters geta special ability Breakthrough wich gives you more capsules. The biggest thing I disliked is. Youre grounded! No jumping not ducking. To fly you half to get hit!No powr struggles etc. On the good side you can knock people into wall, cliffs, moutaines etc. Fighting is too easy. p,p,p, g is basicly everyones Kamehameha realated move.

Bad
Graphics ar soo
Backrounds are bland
Character moves are exactly the same
Simple fighting

Good
DBZ
Fastpaced
Stages change with a strong punch.(Into a mountaine. Then fight on a mountaine)
Orginal Hyper battle

All in all If you dont like DBZ rent it. If youre a fan the score would go up a star. DBZ fails and succesfull in many ways.

The BIGGEST disappointment of the year

When I heard that the Dragonball Z game had been pushed up to the first week of December, I went nuts! I am a HUGE Dragonball fan (embarassingly so as a 28-year-old father), so I immediately plunked down my fifty bucks to pledge my allegiance to Goku and company. Upon picking up the game (and strategy guide) I immediately felt some reprehension: if the game is being released early, isn't it prone to some poor gameplay issues due to lack of testing? Is Infogrames being another typical "get the dollars-screw the game" comapny? Am I due to be ROYALLY ...?

YES!

First, I'd like to state that this is a great example why America needs to be applauded for inventing the receipt. This game is a steaming pile of Japanese dung. It has the most laughable control set-up for a fighter I have ever had the displeasure of playing. The controls are designed to be combo-happy, but you can rarely pull off any creative combos beside the special move combos preset in the game. The game plays like the lead programmer indulged in drugs, played Tekken, Tobal No. 1, and Shaq-Fu, and then yelled "THAT'S IT!" How come the fighters pause sometimes in between punches and kicks? WHY in the HELL do I have to do a combo to launch Goku's Kamehameha Wave? Ins't THAT supposed to be something you have as a finisher? Why is it a cheap combo endpoint? Sure, there are 23 characters to choose from, but the signature moves are reduced to cheap afterthoughts in the abysmal combo sytem. The fights have generally NO strategy: simply play defense until a boring string of punches/kicks stops and then counterattack. The regular ranged attacks have no real stopping power - a REAL kick in the rear seeing as though the DBZ universe practically revolves around projectiles flying towards opponents. The attacks are mostly short ranged, so you have the feeling that the backgrounds could have consisted of phone booths and crowded buses. Playing against the computer is a lesson in frustration; the computer rarely lets your fighter get far away, so you wind up balling up in the fetal position blocking until you see daylight to throw a counter attack. None of the moves fans enjoy (i.e. the Gallick Gun, the Special Beam Cannon) pack enough wallop as the generic moves found throughout most of the fighters repertoire.

The graphics aren't too shabby, though. The game remarkably captures the cartoony look, but the appearnace of some characters have way too much of a polygonal appearance - which leaves you to think what the game would have looked like if Infogrime had WAITED to put this out. The versus mode suffers due to the aforementioned lousy fighting engine, and the story mode is standard fare to any fan of the DBZ series. If you've watched the cartoons, you know the storylines. The game has a skill shop, in which players can customize the fighters' movesets to a degree - but the game ... so bad who cares?
The music stinks, too.

The bottom line: avoid this garbage and 10 people who like this B.S. This isn't even a good recommendation for kids because the moves are insanely hard to pull off with any frequency. Buy this only for mortal enemies, and a certain 10-year old gamer you know who thinks every game is cool !) lol!
