I did not enjoy playing this game. The main reason is that when i was playing this game i was told that a growth on my left atrium was cancerous. After that i couldn't pay any attention to the plot or story, and whenever i turn this game on it makes me remember the radiation therapy. If you have cancer... don't buy this game.

For the first few days I had this game, I loved it.
The graphics are by far some of the best I have seen and some of the artwork is very unique. I would give the graphics 5 stars.
There is also and invention system where you take pictures of stuff and try to make something. This is an interesting idea, but i would spend hours finding things to take pictures of, only to find out it was something useless I had found in, like, the first level. All in all, the the invention system is pretty useless.
The build mode dissapointed me. When I bought the game I was under the impression that there would be alot of customization involved to change the future. But basically the game tells you what to build and where and you raise the % complete the future is, so it is always the same, very dull.
The Dungeons and combat are by far some of the worst I have experienced. It was nice have the real time combat in an RPG, but it lacked any strategy. The dungeons themselves are incredibly repetitive. Unfortunately, after you have played into the first 10 minutes of the first dungeon in the game, you basically have seen the extent of the battle system, except for a few things like STEVE which isn't all that great. I give the dungeons and gameplay half a star.
I am sure there are elements and secrets to this game that you could get in a strategy guide that I have overlooked, but the basic gameplay does not encourage me to do this. Great games like FF7 made me want to buy a strategy guide so I could play it again and get everything the game has to offer.
I would not recommend this game, it is very dull and repetitive and the highlights you see on the case discription like inventions and changing the future are boring.
Odd, one of the worst games ever on one of the worst systems

All right, this was the horror I had to survive when I had a PS2. The most evil part of this game was the fact it featured something I wanted, In character world building. It was like some kind of twisted knife that this game repeatedly thrust into my back. I'm sorry, but this is down there with Evolution 1 for worse RPGs ever. Random Dungeons are /not/ fun. Not gaining experience for having to go through random dungeons is not fun. Making weapons take damage and need repairs, when they are the only things that can gain experience is not fun. Not allowing a Japanese voice cast option in a menu is not fun. Not allowing people to actually explore or do things out of order is not fun! Why oh why can't we just be allowed to have some fun? If the whole game is spent in random dungeons, you'd think you could offer us some better hit points, or how about some good armor? That'd be great. I'd take that over useless mostly linear weapon upgrades ever. Final Word. This game is just full of bait, but if you bite, you get a nice rusty hook in your lip. And that...is not fun.
Great graphics cheap and dull gamepplay

Its like a game developed by 2 separate groups. The storyline and towns (non combat exploration) is interesting, with some superb graphics both in technical ability (long draw distance, smooth framerate) and in design with loads of color and interesting buildings, monsters and bosses.
The actual gameplay in the dungeons is just plain dull. There's no advanced player skill involved like strong/weak attacks or special skills just block and hit. And the dungeons are just plain boring corridors and rooms. Disappointing.
This game was terrible.

I have played dozens of games and this is by far one of the worst games I have ever played. To start off, the story line is incredibly slow and boring. Sometimes things are not explained fully and instructions become confusing. The characters are silly, too. At one point in the game, Max, the main character, meets up with this cowboyish/western kid who has this incredibly fake accent and, to me, it just makes me think of what the point was of putting such an unoriginal and boring character into the game? This character just adds the slow and annoying process the story line proceeds in. I mean, what were the creators thinking? Sure, Dark Cloud 1 was pretty good, but the sequel was just ruined. Also, this sequel doesn't really tie into its prequel, as far as I can see. The only reason I am giving this awful, boring game one star was because of its amazing graphics. It has incredible graphics that you will be in awe of. If you just buy games for their graphics, this game is for you. In short, the plot is silly, the charcters are unoriginal, and the story is slow. This game is childish and should be meant for young children. Even if this game is rated Teen for violence, there is hardly any. One guy dies, a few people are intimidated and beat up, and a few enemies are killed, but that is about it. This game is terrible so don't waste your money.

Let me start by saying do not listen to the reviews that the game is too easy. It just seems easy at the start that way. I do like the weapon upgrade but not when that is the only thing can you upgrade. Your defense is upgraded in the lamest way possible by finding littlt chests with pie in it. The game is 50 hours long but not worth it. The dungens as I am sure you heard are repetive bu the only thing worse than that is the battle music. It may be good with at the most 20 hours but not a second more. The only reason why I continued playing was to see happened next and it was something easily predictable. So do not I repeated do not make the biggest misake of your life.

I'm not a kid, and this game was too easy for me. Someone with quicker reflexes and nimbler thumbs would probably think it is laughably easy.
I do like the RPG flavor *without* the turn-based combat -- I just do not like turn-based combat -- but playing for four hours without getting killed is a sure sign that the game is just a little too easy for more mature players.
not that great

the only reason i gave this game 2 stars is because of the cool graphics. the reason i don't like this game is beacause of all the dungeons, they take up the whole game. and they are way, way to long. And you have to repair your weapon with weapon powder constantly which takes to much of your time and way to much of your money. And since you are more then one charcter you also have to pay the price of reapair powder for the other chacter
Worst game I've ever played.

A lot of people are going to disagree, and that's fine. This is simply my opinion, based on 40+ hours of game play.
This game is horrible. The first few hours are awesome, and you'll think it's fun. That charm soon vanishes, and all you're left with is a boring, older, duller version of Kingdom Hearts - as far as gameplay goes anyways.
Throw in some cheap watered down version of Sim City, and there you go. Oh, and the building of towns...yeah, mind numbingly boring.
Everybody says this is like Zelda for PS2? I say they must be smokin something awesome, because this is nowhere near Zelda.
Don't buy into the hype, it's false, and you'll waste money.
