First off, I'm an RPG fan, but I like challenges. I also like most action games.
This is a great game. I played the first one, and thought it was ok, but this one is really a lot better. Although your weapon still has a health meter, you don't get thirsty, and you can really customize your towns!
If you like having challanges, I would reccomend this game.
One more thing. I hate cel shaded games. This game is cel shaded, but your barely even notice it and it doesn't it affect the game player at all!!
You'll have to play it twice to do it all!

This game features stunning visuals, with 2d cel animation over 3d backgrounds and beautiful colors. Don't let the graphics fool you into thinking this is for little kids; it's not. Much like the first one, you must collect the necessary items to rebuild your towns, with the added element of time travel to see how your creations turn out. There's more weapon building, an extra bonus of a vehicle-weapon, monster transformation, fishing contests, fishing races, goals in each 'dungeon' level that award you with medals to be used to purchase other items, and a golf-like game called Spheda that repairs temporal distortions. You can invent and make your own items using the photographs of everything you take along the way, including important Scoops (redeemable for valuable prizes.) You must recruit townspeople to repopulate the planet, and earn the help of people from the future towards defeating the evil emperor Griffon. A loaded game that can easily take up 100+ hours of gameplay.
one of the best action RPGs!!!

dark cloud 2 was a surprise for me. i've played the first dark cloud and it didn't appeal to me very much because of the difficult battle system. dark cloud 2 was a big difference. it has a very easy battle system and the graphics are superb. they use a process called "cell shading" which makes the characters seem like they're animated. the overall game is extremely fun and i saw myself playing it for about 5 hours at a time!! if you didn't enjoy the first dark cloud and think that darkcloud 2 is like the first one...think again cause it's nothing like it!!! it's waaayyyy better and i think every RPG fan should own it. it's one of the best action RPGs i've played since kingdom hearts.
Pure Fun !

This game is great! The gameplay is reminiscent of Zelda, with some mechanics borrowed from the original Dark Cloud and highly improved upon. The story is good enough to keep me playing. Definitely fun.
Note: On the story between floor 2 and 3 of the first dungeon you may experience a "freeze". To avoid this, you must play through the second floor and go directly to the third and not leave the dungeon. Do this and you'll be fine.
Like the first one? This is better.

Dark Cloud was a fun game, in my opinion. A nice throwback to Soul Blazer, with a few extra elements that made it even more fun than that.
Dark Cloud 2, frankly, blows DC out of the water. Better graphics, better story, voice acting that's remarkably good, music that reflects the mood well, and a vastly enhanced Georama system. Admittedly, one of the mini-games is hard to get used to, but it's worth it, really, especially when you consider the prizes you can get for finishing it.
If you enjoy games that have an involved story, interesting characters, and a variety of gameplay elements, then this game is for you.
Weak Story But Hours of Fun

I must agree, this game is fun and sucks at the same time. I think, all in all, I hated this game yet it owned me for about 80 hours :). I'm glad to be done with it.
GOOD:
First, it is a beautiful and innovative game and much has been improved from the first DC. There is a whole lot to keep you occupied.
The dungeons could be repetitive but the rewards caused you to return to them several times.
The pictures and inventions were a great addition.
You didn't have to worry about constantly building up new characters. You could work on the core characters, Monica and Max. They both have an alternate; Max can change to the Ridepod and Monica to monsters. But you can beat the game without concentrating on the Ridepod or Monster Transformation. I never even used Monster Transformation!
If a weapon breaks you can repair it.
Hours and hours of gameplay and much to keep you occupied.
Bonus chapter at the end that's very challenging (shhh!!!)
I actually liked the spheda/golf
BAD:
One of the lamest RPG stories ever! full of holes. (C'mon, a dark emperor destroying the future from 10,000 years in the past? Why didn't he just kill the few primitive humans running around in his own time? It would've solved his problem)
Georama mode is not nearly as challenging and creative as Dark Cloud 1.
You can't level up you character, only their weapons. The only way to improve Monica and Max' defense is to find certain items (which can be tedious and annoying).
Weak lines to match the story. Max, your main character, only says things like "Right", "OK" "Let's do it" in his annoying, enthusiastic voice. Monica actually called the shots.
You'd spend hours accumulating medals in the dungeon so you could buy clothes? Clothes that don't even change your characters stats?! Pointless.
In the end, it's definetely worth a play. It's a hit or miss
Coolest,Awsomest,Hottest game I ever played!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the first few days I had this game, I loved it.
The graphics are by far some of the best I have seen and some of the artwork is very unique. I would give the graphics 5 stars.
There is also and invention system where you take pictures of stuff and try to make something. This is an interesting idea, but i would spend hours finding things to take pictures of, only to find out it was something useless I had found in, like, the first level. All in all, the the invention system is pretty useless.
The build mode dissapointed me. When I bought the game I was under the impression that there would be alot of customization involved to change the future. But basically the game tells you what to build and where and you raise the % complete the future is, so it is always the same, very dull.
The Dungeons and combat are by far some of the worst I have experienced. It was nice have the real time combat in an RPG, but it lacked any strategy. The dungeons themselves are incredibly repetitive. Unfortunately, after you have played into the first 10 minutes of the first dungeon in the game, you basically have seen the extent of the battle system, except for a few things like STEVE which isn't all that great. I give the dungeons and gameplay half a star.
I am sure there are elements and secrets to this game that you could get in a strategy guide that I have overlooked, but the basic gameplay does not encourage me to do this. Great games like FF7 made me want to buy a strategy guide so I could play it again and get everything the game has to offer.
I would not recommend this game, it is very dull and repetitive and the highlights you see on the case discription like inventions and changing the future are boring.
