I jumped onto the WoW bandwagon just like everyone else and at first I thought it was the greatest game ever. However, I quickly found that after the first few days of leveling a character, it all starts to just blend in.
The world itself has the potential to be quite immersive. However, due to all the kids playing the game, you constantly find that the chat channels are nothing but one underage minor arguing with another, not just talking like kids do, but using profanity, telling racist jokes, Chuck Norris jokes, etc. This goes on and on. I am an adult, and while profanity does not offend me, it gets tiring when little Johnny is on night and day talking trash and pulling you out of the experience.
For the most part, glitches and game problems are relatively few and far between. When you put in a request for help from an administrator they are usually quite quick to respond and help.
My complaint comes in the repetitve nature of this game. After about the first 15 character levels you begin to realize it is repeating the same quests over and over. One NPC will ask you to go kill 15 of this monster, and another will ask you to go kill this other type of monster in order to collect something it randomly drops (for example kill dragon whelps until you collect 12 scales, which drop occasionally, so you may have to only kill 12, or 50 of the whelps!).
These quests repeat over and over. The actual target of the quest is different, but it is the same type. Every time you enter a new area, you have to kill X amount of these guys, and collect X amount of these dropped items. Over and Over. All the way from level 1 to 70. I have 3 70's on different servers. My complaints are not from a quick sampling of the game, but rather from spending a long time playing, and finding the issues that annoy me the most.
When starting a new character in a new area the game is quite fun. That fun however turns to boredom as you must spend an insane amount of time leveling a character. Whereas in most games you can sit down and play for 45 minutes, and feel like you accomplished something, in WoW you can play for several hours a night and not even level your character up any. This wouldn't be a problem if the game was fun, but it isn't for long. It just begins to get very tiresome.
WoW certainly is not a BAD game, but it requires a horendous investment of time (money also, since you do have the fee to deal with) and in the end, the reward just isn't that great. I'm sure my complaints probably mirror the complaints of other MMORPGs, but as this is my first (and feels like last) I have no basis for comparison.
Kind of fails

I'm going to get straight to the point about this game. At first, I thought it was pretty fun because there are plenty of quests to do, new things to get, etc. But after a day or so, the game becomes as repetitive as a damn wheel on your car. The same things happen over and over again. For example, you'll have a quest at level 5 or so telling you to kill someone. Later, at level 6 you'll get another quest asking you to kill someone. But, Blizzard reuses many of their graphics like simple dungeons in which they just change the color and add some rocks in. Basically, you're running around in the same rooms you ran around earlier. Sounds interesting? Along with this, you have to deal with some real **tchy people who blame their non existent social life on you. They will spend hours making stupid rascist jokes, and calling you a "noob" to make themselves feel a little more powerful. (Don't take this as a generalization as there are some decent people out there) To be honest, if you really want to play this game then just buy this CD, install it, then go on some website and download a server. This way you don't have to pay the dumb monthly fee of $15. Of course, this is assuming that you want to play at all.
I highly recommend that you do not buy this at all. Firstly, I don't know why but some people are as addicted to this game as they can be to drugs. Why? Don't ask me. And if you ask some of those people, they will not give you a reason. Try it out and save your own life or someone else's by not getting this game
Parents Beware

Parents should be aware of one aspect of this game. I was recently in a store and overheard two kids about 13 years old explaining to another juvenile how they play this game and enjoy taking part in an act known as Ninja Looting. Don't worry, I had to ask my Nephew what Ninja Looting was. In the game, there are treasure chests located at various locations. These are surrounded by enemies which must first be killed before the player can open the chest and take the contents (usually valued items). As a player or group of players is working to clear the enemies, another player can run in and still the contents of the chest.
Here is why parents should be concerned about letting their kids play this game. Five minutes after I overheard these juveniles talking about how cool Ninja Looting was, I witnessed the juvenile who really thought Ninja Looting was cool shoplifting. I can't help but think this game contributed to this kid breaking the law. And you can't tell me the makers of the game can't make some changes and actually penalize players who take part in this. However, the publisher will tell you there is nothing they can do. Skip this game and let the publishers know they need to make some changes.
False Economy?

The game is sold out accross the country. Some sellers are charging five times the cost of the game due to the 'laws' of supply and demand.
The idea that Blizzard can't print CDs fast enough to meet demand is laughable. They are purposefully keeping supply well below demand. Why? Probably to keep the cost of the game from dropping due to second handers, but most importantly, because Blizzard's servers are not able to keep up with the number of users online.
It could be the best game in the world. It could be better than sex. I'll never know because you can't buy it anywhere!
I agree with Jester God.

This game is not only boring and monotinous, but you actually have to pay $13 a month to play this online. Only nerds play this game.
If you want a good computer game, go for the Mech Warrior games.
Weak, I am down $50.

I was told by some friends how great this game is and I bought it and played and for awhile I though it was good. Then after the second day I got tired of it. Now I never want to play this game again, worse I can't return the game. I am going to cancel my subscription in the next two days or so before they send me my first monthly bill. Really disappointing. I went back to playing Battlefield 2/Special Forces I will stick with that game until they come out with something better. Best part is that game is free to play online unlike this game. Get it and you will enjoy it.
Fun... if you can get on

This game is total bulls**t. I just got it and not one server will let me create a character. This could've been one of the greatest games ever. I played it at a friends house and thought it was great, and it would be simply amazing if the developers weren't morons. No character creation during peak hours?! What the f**k it's fun, but in a sense it's one of the worst games ever, you can't even play it! This game took me almost an hour to load and I still can't play it, I'll have to wait till tomorrow now. I shouldn't have to wait to play a f**king video game this is such bulls**t. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME unless you have a LOT of time on your hands to sit and WAIT.

This will be a great game. MMORPG's or just MMO's are hard to produce and have a high quality game and Blizzard is taking big risk ,but we know from past games that Blizzad dosn't ship anything half-baked. The monthly charge is one thing all MMO's should have, so don't think that is unnessasarry. This game is so good that the BETA account's are going for around $200 to even $400. I don't know why you would buy that but it's only the testing account's, not the actual game account. I think that this will be an excellent game so you might want to watch for it.
World Of Warcraft Sucks. Guild Wars Is Better

I'm fairly a newbie to Role Playing Games (RPG) and to gaming in general. I heard a lot about world of warcraft (WOW) before trying it out.
I only tried it because I got a free trial from gamespy website. I took one look at it and was completely turned off by the cartoonish graphics and the fact that everybody in the game looked like monsters. I was starting to turn away from RPGs in general but I read some good reviews on Amazon about Guild Wars (GW) and decided to try it out to see if there was anything to it.
Guild Wars blew me completely away. It rocks! I am totally addicted to it now. GW has extremely beautiful, realistic graphics. I mean exquisite! And the only monsters you see in it are the ones you have to fight. I know I end up writing a review for Guild Wars but I can't help it.
WOW probably is a good game but I will never play it because I can't deal with the cartoon graphics and all the people looking like monsters. Moreover, $15 DOLLARS A MONTH! Get outta here. Not me. Guild Wars is much, much better------and it's free to play.
A clarification..

WoW is so far been a fairly awesome game.
I would just like to let people know not to get their hopes up on this game being out on Oct 15th; as one being in beta, I truly dont see this game being released then..but then again stranger things have happened.
