A Great Addiction!

I have been playing games for over 15 years and this one is in my top ten list for sure! I highly recommend this to someone whom enjoys the fantasy style gaming. In a short period of time you can get simple quests done unlike Everquest which takes hours of gameplay to do so little.

Constant Fun

World of Warcraft is the second MMORPG I've ever played. I first tried out Final Fantasy XI and got bored with it rather quickly, the fighting was terrible. After playing WoW for 7 months strong I must say that this game is great. The combat is entertaining and keeps me interested. The PvP is simple and very addicting. The amount of experience to level is perfectly balanced. Each class is another game in itself: I have a warrior, mage, hunter, and paladin and I can switch between them whenever I get bored of a certain style of play. Also Rested Experience is Essential! I love feeling good about not playing because I'm still gaining experience in the game, and when I come back to play I will be able to lvl much easier. ; )
All in all, World of Warcraft has kept me from seriously playing any other game or having to buy any other game for 7 months. Sure it costs 15 dollars a month but it has kept me entertained and kept me from purchasing other games. So in the 7 months I've had WoW I've only spent $155 dollars on gaming (all on WoW). It's a purchase I do not regret and I love being able to cancel my account and then come back whenever I want and my characters will be there waiting for me. ; ) Congrats WoW for holding my attention this long... (can't wait until Elder Scrolls IV comes out...)

New to this type of game but very happy

WoW is my first pay for play, multiple player online game. My husband got us on the beta of it in 2004 and we bought it about three weeks after it came out. I have a lot of fun playing with him and playing characters by myself. Frankly I'm not into the PvP stuff at all but one of the great things about this game is that you don't have to play against other players if you don't want to. One thing I don't like about the game is the need to group up with 5 or more others to do many of the higher level quests -- I'm a very organized person and I find most group dynamics to be unorganized and there can be a fair among of unreliablity and nastiness at times that really turn me off. But there is so much to do that even though I don't like big groups, I can find things to do. Lot of combinations of races and classes make it interesting to play new characters.

I played for about a year, and really enjoyed it most of the time, I can't argue it's not a really fun, in depth game. However, you pay [...] dollars a month, but patches often break the game and/or down the servers. The focus of the game keeps changing, favoring pvp sometimes and pve sometimes. It is designed to be addictive, like a drug it's easily rewarding at first, but later painfully difficult to get rewarded. This can be very dangerous, and you must monitor yourself. After level 70 and some casual raiding, without significant time invested, you may hit a wall and be bored and make little/no progress. The servers are also loaded with bots, paid foreign farmers, racists, homophobes, and general idiots. Like many, many people, I became addicted and ruined my life playing the game, be warned.

WoW just WoW!!

This game is amazing! I have played it for a little while now and although people say that the subscription fees are and that guild wars is better I say that in comparison to other MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games) it is seemless and well worth the subscription fee of $15 a month. When you put this game side by side with other MMORPGs you realize that WoW (World of Warcraft) is seemless. Other games have loading screens and combat is laborious. From the MMORPGs I've sampled WoW has the best PvP (Player versus Player=combat with people other players in the game) system I have seen. From first glance it might not appear as graphically impressive as other games. It completely makes up for this with its beautiful and expansive world design.

The bottom line is if you want to get the most bang for your buck world of warcraft is the place to spend your buck! So come on and join the WoW world and encourage your friends to play to because in the long run WoW is a game that relies on human interaction online. So pick your race, grab your sword and shield and join the Alliance or the Horde in glorious online battle!

My computer has twice the stated CPU of the requirements, and it still wouldn't load. This is only for those with state of the art computers.

Wow what can I say.....besides what a great game it sounds like. The thing is that I havent played the beta but by just reading about it from blizzard they give u a great outlook of the game. What I dont like though is the monthly cost. I dont understand why that is. that is the only reason I might not buy the game. The game though will be a great team game many of my friends and I are gonan team up on it lol. It does look very indepth and a very very long game. This will be the ultimate game for and warcraft fans out there and if you are a noob I still suggest this game.with the own customization of heros even abilities can be custom picked to help fight at your maximum potential. with unlimited possibilities the game will definetly give u a run for your money.I think that it will be very hard for first time players to get used to the battle system. The only thing that should hold u back is the cost.

Great game ruined by downtime!

Title says it all. When you can play, which is not often on Mondays or after the frequent bug patches, it is a truly fun game. Probably the best part is the interaction with like-minded people. (Yes, there are lots of obnoxious teenagers that play, too.)

Unfortunately, WoW tantalizes and addicts and then does not follow through. For example, the ENTIRE WORLD can't play right now - and has not been able to play for the last two hours - because their network and/or authentication server is down.

And this is "normal" for them. The game you love to hate...WarCrack!

Removing A Game's Fun

I bought (WoW Battlechest) as a Xmas gift for my hubby. It was one of the few PC games I thought we could play together. After setting up his account, I set up my characters to play with him on a trial account. Now, with the trial about to expire, I find that (to continue playing) we must drive an hour and 30$ worth of gas to the nearest city and physically purchase a 2nd set of software disks or wait 2 weeks for a mail order (with his characters stuck in limbo since we were cooperating & I can't continue). They won't even make a second key available for purchase online.

When I bought the game I was told that we only needed one copy. It's fair for Blizzard to charge their monthly for two accounts but this is completely unreasonable.

Furthermore Blizzard absolutely inundates a player with legal contract mumbo-jumbo over and over and over again just to play. As a semi-retired software designer, game designer, and graphics artist, I can say that Blizzard has done excellent work in these fields. However, their bean counters and bureaucrats have managed to take all the fun out of the game for me. I'm not willing to put up with this short term stupidity and will recommend to hubby that he cancel (though he loves it) after his subscription expires.

This is consumer fraud and extortion up with which I will not put. Should Blizzard correct this policy I shall change this review. Meanwhile may their slimy lawyers get exactly what they put out.
