My husband and I have been playing WoW for almost 2 years. We started out on EQ1 for 4 years, then went to a few other MMORPGs (including Diablo II, DAoC, UO, EQ2) before getting board with them. We play on a couple pvp servers which I think completely enhances game play. I don't know what it is like to play on a non pvp server, and don't care to try.
We have been in end game guilds and family guilds, but prefer to do mostly pvp. This game has more to offer than any of the other games we have played. We have taken a couple brakes due to my husband being deployed and later me having a second child (we did not quit because we were board or tired of playing), but we keep ending up back at WOW. I won't go through a list all the pros and cons of playing this game, but it is definitely worth buying the game and the monthly fee.
We have played as both horde and alliance, as many different races and classes. Even our three year old likes to play.
I would suggest trying to 10 day trial you can download for free from the Blizzard web site, you don't even need a credit card number. When you get sick of not being able to trade with others, not being able to send mail or use the auction house, buy the full version.
Wow is good...in time.

Most of the complaints I hear about this game is the "edless grinding" and the monotiny of the quests. basicly, kill this...bring me this, etc. Those complaints are all valid at the lower levels. However, because the leveling system is very vast, and due to the fact that it is quite easy to level up without much trouble you should be able to tolerate these quests because they dont last for the whole game. after a few levels the quests become more developed and you start learning more about the overall story of the game. And as for the grinding. I havent played a RPG or MMO that didnt involve grinding of some kind. Overall the gameplay is great. the graphics, although a bit too cartoonish for my tastes are very good and the game is worth a try.
Not Bad I'm kinda shocked

Ok to be honest I picked this up because of 2 reasons. A life long best friend told me I had to try it. And It was on South Park and I figured what the hell. So I got into it and Yes at first things are a little wierd to get to know but after words WOW becomes second nature. I couldn't believe how easy it is to use and how much fun you can have with people you meet on here. So I like WOW. Im one of those people that doesn't have time to play all the time but its nice to know that you can play and build something at the same time.
After everything, looking back with fond memories

I've recently quit after playing for nearly two years, and it occured to me that even after all its cons and the affects it had to my life, I can't help but remember the great times with so many friends (real life and online) I'd made and the fun we've had together. There's so much to do in this game and unfortunatley not enough time to delve into every aspect. It's a very easy game to get into and very fun leveling to 60 when done with other players and with your guildmembers. Getting to 60 can take from 3 weeks to 2 months depending on your efficiency. All along the way there are several things to do including community, pvp, questing, professions, money making. And the game only just begins after you reach level 60. You can participate in grand raids to dungeons and duke it out in some intense pvp with lots of skilled players across the realm and other servers. If there is one thing certain to remember when buying a Blizzard game, it is that it'll be your money's worth and more. And they've certainly proved it again by creating the greatest and largest MMO in the world. Don't be fooled by those Ever Quest honchos, most of their player base fled to this game. I would highly recommend this for anyone, be they casual or hardcore.

I had heard all of the hype about this game, and after playing it for a month, I am still impressed. There was a lot of thought put into the creation of this game. It is rich in context and features. The interface is easy to use and you are able to create a character and get into the game quickly. Warning! This game is very addictive.

Sigh were do I start.....
World of Warcraft basically takes you into a world after the events Warcraft III The frozen throne. You get to create your own character, choose your race, class, face etc... The races dont really matter because most of thier special skills are next to useless. The only race that has a usefull skill is the dwarves' Stone Body (I forgot what it was). The only good thing in this game are the graphics, I honestly dont care how cartoonish the graphics are because graphics dont make the game its the gameplay. Now here is were I start complaining...
The Story: I liked the story on Warcraft III. Even tho the characters are rip offs from Starcraft. But atleast the story was decent. World of Warcraft destroys the main story. The Humans and Orcs are not allies anymore, what the crap is that. Who is gonna defeat Arthas The Lich King. The Humans cant kill him themselves. The most stupid alliance is the Undead joining the horde. Didnt the undead raided thier towns not to long ago.
Oh and were are the blood elves, thankfully they are adding them on the expansion, but they shouldve added them along time ago and get rid off those stupid gnomes. The blood elves had a large purpose in this game. If it wasnt for the blood elves the burning legion would still be destroying things. Really everybody should be against the undead like they was in the frozen throne. Because they are the living dead that eats and kill the living. Another suprising thing is that the night elves joining the alliace. I thought the tree huging night elves hated everybody. Also the story doesnt progress at all, Your character is stuck being this delivery boy. Your basiclly the UPS Delivery guy (occationally killing a number of monsters) in the World of Warcraft. Most of the quest are 1. deliver this X to such and such 2. Collect X number of items from this X creature 3. kill X number of monsters. Most of the quest are like that through lvls 1-60. And it doesnt matter if you choose the horde or the alliace because the quests are all the same.
The Classes: Now I thought "Finnaly an mmorpg that requires skill. Finally you can go against other players." This game disapoints me all classes except the rogue doesnt require skill. The warrior is just another failed melee class, they have to rely on the gear and you cant even get close to a caster. Try running towards a mage you will get sniped and frost up so bad that you cant even run. They also gave the mage the cheapest move in the game "frost nova." Once you get close to a mage they cast frost nova, you basically frozen there and stand still like a dumb nut for 6 secs and let the mage shoot fireballs at you. This is were I rant about the mage. Like all mmorpgs.. Mages rules,, which sucks. What about the guys who spend all thier time and effort to create this bada** warrior. But you cant seem to kill a mage because your armor is not resistent to frost. Frost mages dominate the game because of thier abilty freeze every body and have everybody move slowly. However, there is one class that murder mages and that is the rogue. Rogues is the best class to be because they can kill everybody with a little skill and a little steath. Ive enjoyed being a rogue. You can go on your metal gear solid missions and murder someone that is weak and bruised up from battle(In the PvP battelegrounds not duels). And thank god hunters suck because they are so little hunter running around you can walk around in stealth mode all the time in the batttlegrounds. I never played as a hunter or a druid but all I know is they suck. The next class im about to go into is priest. Now the priest rocks, they are healers and kick butt at the same time how awsome is that. They are alittle weak to attacks and always targeted in the battle grounds. But they can hold thier own with any class except the rogue (aka the caster killer) But its still doesnt require skill to use a caster. Its so simple to use its sickining. Thats all the classes im going to talk about because I only used 3 of them. Basically Casters > Melee.
Community: I think I was in the ***hole sever because thats all I seem to find is ***holes. The whole community is full of nerdy kids calling people noobs and using vulgar words they wont say to thier parents. I know there is a couple of guys that will be nice but I didnt find anyone like that. everytime I ask for help for a quest. They useally ignore me or call me a stupid noob. Nobody seems to work together, and it seems like thier profession is World of Warcraft. If you make a mistake they call you a noob and kick you out of the group. And if you try to make a group on your own most of them are power hungry and just bail after you complete a quest with them. However they are some that will help you out intill they have to go, but thats a rare breed. You can also join guilds once you get to lvl 60 but if your a blue collar worker/matial arts instructor and has real life to deal with they will kick you out. Because thier profession is World of Warcraft and people who only show up on weekends gets kick out. I rather spend 6 hours with my girl than spend 6 hours finding a raid party. The sad thing is alot of people lose thier girls because of this game... Why lose a relationship with friend becuase you have to raid this monster so you can get some virtrual sword.
Gameplay: Sure It doesnt take along time to get to level 60 but as soon as you get there, the only thing thats left is PvP or Raids. You can do town raids too but nobody wants to do because you gain nothing after. You also can do PvP but since you wont stand a chance without that super armor or sword you have to go on raids to get them. And since the people in the guilds kick you out and finding a raid party (which is 30 people) will take 6 hours. You basically will never see that fancy sword.
In the end this game sucks. If you like tedious gameplay imbalnced classes and spend alot of time to gettin fancy armor than this is the game for. This game doesnt even deserve 1 star but amazon wont let me. To me this is the worst game Ive ever played and being the worst game in my book means -5 stars.
And to all the people who like to crotique on my spelling and grammer. well yall can kiss my ***. I really dont care. If you can read it well that good enough fo me.

If you plan to enter the world of this game, I suggest you to go slowly, as you may not like it. A friend convinced me to try the game, as I am much a Guild Wars fan than this. So I tried out the free 10 day trial and the game is kinda sticky, so I decided to go further and bought the original game (not the expansion), as they give you a free month. Well I have being playing this game for almost 3 weeks and I must admit it is a big game, it has a lot of content and things to keep you distracted with.
It is easy to make money with this thing called "professions", you can have two at the same time, my friend told me to pick up two gathering professions to make easy money at start and is working! One thing I definitely LOVE in this game is the Auction House, one thing I don't like about this game is that it's users are separated by Servers or "Realms", so yeah it has over 9 millions of players online blah blah blah, but it has over 100 servers, so what, you barely see people inside unlike you are in a capital city or pvp areas (I haven't being on pvp areas yet).
Another thing I don't like about this game is that you can't jump into PvP action from the beginning, something that Guild Wars definitely will always shine for, two separate contents PvE and PvP. So over here you gotta lvl up your way to the cap and get good equip, but PvE content will keep you busy.
So in the end, I think I will be playing this game for a while (definitely will stop, not indefinitely, but to play the upcoming Guild Wars 2), IF I still playing it when I am high level, I will purchase the expansion to be able to go to outland, some new world introduced with Burning Crusade.
Player beware, as for a game that collects monthly profits (and I am talking about GOOD profits) you expect at least no bugs, but there are few strange bugs that you say "this is a very common bug, why if the game has a lot out there has bugs like this one?" It is very strange that this happens to you but, sometimes if you kill a mob, it "dies" but appears to be alive yet and frozen...

This is probably one of the best computer games I have ever played. It is so involved, but also quite easy to play and understand. I imagine anyone could play this game and almost immediately understand what they are supposed to do. However, there are also many levels to the game which makes it fun even for the most advanced gamer. The only problem with this game is that once you stop playing you better be ready to give up the next several months of your life to it.

World of Warcraft (WoW for short) is an excellent game that is well thought out, and well driven for the market. It allows for both solo and team play in a world that is filled with monsters quests dungeons, and team events. Some of the quests are puzzles, others are calls to action against a horde of monsters troubling a village. Perhaps they are a quest to find a buried treasure in a cave full of half snake fiends.
Throughout all of this is a world held together beautifully. Just wandering the beautiful Landscape, you will find interesting battle scenes perhaps a sunken ship with bodies lying around it that is never mentioned in a quest. It is just the chance to add realism to the world. Objects that don't have any significance to the players have significance to the world itself. and this kind of thought is throughout all of WoW.
With 10 Playable Races and 10 Playable classes it is a wonderful game for anyone who likes a fantasy adventure game.
