This is definitely the most enthralling, entertaining, time-consuming, awesome, goregeous, in-depth, and just plain FUN video game I have ever come across, and I've played a lot. The expansions just add on to the original excellent non-linear adventure, and the ability to download and install even more official and unofficial mods/patches/plug-ins that also add to the game make it that much better. This game could not get any better. If you enjoy RPGs, or just any game in general, BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!

I have played a number of RPGs in my day, and this is by far the biggest game ever. There is no limit to amount of things you can do, and quests you can embark upon. The range of character classes is wide, and the character attributes are quite realistic, though they don't follow D&D to a tee. But no worries, they are quite similar, and you will not be disappointed with the breadth of this game. There are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay available, and you can play this game multiple times without running into the same things so many times.
The graphics are not what you would get with Neverwinter Nights, but the gameplay, storyline, and endless possibilities more than make up for this. The real-time fighting is also not as technically true as other D&D RPGs (although, it's not trying to be).
Overall, a fabulous game, and has been my favorite for a LONG time now!

This game has rightfully earned the title of game of the year although its graffics arent the best it(except the water), It allow an emense level of elements. You can join guilds like the Fighters and Mages or a group of hitmen for hire if thats what you want.
When the game begins your given the chance to pick special skills such as long blade, or Conjuration which allows you to sumon powerful creatures to aid you in battle. The races go from normal looking Imperials to cat like Kajits or if its your fancy play as an argonian a lizardish creature. You pick certain skills as major and minor and can improve those through out the hundreds of hours of gameplay.
I guess what Im saying is what you do is up to you 100%

Complaints - architecture and many creatures leaned more towards sci-fi than traditional fantasy setting. I prefer castles and goblins. The Tribunal expansion while fun to play seemed light on content. The world didn't seem to change significantly upon finishing main quest.
Cheers - Open-ended game play is awesome. Do what you want when you want. There is no timer on the main quest. Character development is completely open-ended. Cast fireballs while wearing heavy armor. Use a two-handed sword while playing a more stealthy character. Enchanting items allowed for making super powerful characters. The Bloodmoon expansion was almost like an entirely stand-alone game.
A very good RPG

Morrowind is a very good RPG. Three main reasons are everything you do effects in a very small way. The second is that their is lot of guilds, main quests, side quests, and paths you can take. The third reason is that their is not much gore as their is in Fable and so on. I also want to say that kids 8 and under should get this game.

After reading the many reviews on as many sites as possible, I went ahead a purchased Morrowind. I was not dissapointed in the least. This game has all you could want from a single person RPG. Well, almost. Let me point out the few areas that keep this from being a perfect game.
1) Combat. There is precious little skill to work with here, as far as I can tell. 3 basic moves(unless you have "auto" on) and you never get the feeling that you are actually controlling your character.
2) Pace of the game. I like the time it takes to get from place to place. It gives you time to see things you might otherwise miss, THE FIRST TIME. Trudging up the same hill, time after time because you can't carry enough stuff to keep you alive for long gets way old at the pace your character covers ground. A faster run or walk speed would be very helpful.
I love the variety of game situations, the puzzles, quests, and treasure. The different guilds, the back story, the learning; it all lends itself wonderfully to the genre. And perhaps the best part of all: there is a large online community creating mods for this game still. Play through the game, then mod it, and play new levels, or seek new quests. The modders keep the game exciting long after the game the developers made is done.

I like to move in my games so the first thing I did is grab the cheat which unfolded the map on my screen. Those of you who are movers..be selective about your cheats and enjoy! Those of you who like to do it all yourself should welcome the adventure. I liked it so muuch I had to purchase the Golden edition and I have not finsished the first yet! Old, young, it doesn't matter, it has an adventure for everyone, each unique to you. That is what makes this game so realistic, all the game play is based on your personal choices through-out the game. "It allows you to be you, good or bad and unfolds a history of your own making." A true work of computer art.

The wide openess of this game is the reasaon I keep coming back to play it again and again, I'm always finding something new to do. Various factions you can join, Make your own potions, Become a member of the Temple and heal others. Be an evil Telvanni that has no regard for others lives, it's just plain fun.

I bought Morrowind for the XBox when it first came out. I almost all of my time playing this game for at least 3 months. When the Game of the Year Edition came out I HAD to get it. When I left for college I bought it for my PC.
Morrowind, like the other Elder Scrolls games, greatest strength lies in how open-ended it is. You can do do and be almost anything you want in this game. Once I beat it, I had to start over to try a different kind of character, a different race, different stats and different skills. I can think of no other game with as much replay value as an Elder Scrolls game.
If you do get this game, you have to get it for the PC. The absolute best part of the game is that the construction set is packed with it. So, if you somehow run out of things to do in the game you can make your own mod, or download thousands, maybe millions off of the internet to play. Morrowind was my absolute favorite game for the longest time it took quit a few years and Quite possibly the release of Oblivion, its sequal for any game to surpass it.
