The fact that Nintendo managed to shrink down the incredibly influential Super Mario 64 to the DS as the system's flagship title is amazing to say the least. It's even more amazing that the original game has managed to stay virtually unscathed in the translation, with even new additions thrown in as well. Super Mario 64 DS begins with you controling Yoshi as you wander around the castle grounds trying to figure out what happened to Mario and where Bowser has taken the Princess and hidden the 150 stars (yes, there's more stars to collect here than before). As you progress, you'll also be able to play as Mario, Luigi, and Wario as you further your mission to collect the stars and defeat Bowser and a host of other baddies; all of which is easier said than done. Graphically, the game looks nearly identical to the Nintendo 64 classic, which is simply amazing. Every stage from the original game is here as well, along with some new areas and features for good measure. There's even some mini-games you can play using the stylus, and more you can unlock by finding stolen keys. The only real problem with Super Mario 64 DS is that players of the original may have problems switching from the analog stick which worked so well with the original, to the directional pad of the DS. It takes some time, but eventually you'll get used to it. All in all, Super Mario 64 DS is one of the best games available for the smash hit portable, and it's essential to any DS owner's library.

I still own and play the N64 version of this game. I can't tell you how impressed I was that they put a new spin on this game and added lots of different stuff but still are in the same path with it. This game is very fun!
Just doesn't feel the same.

Super mario 64 on the DS is quite good, just lacking without the analog stick. Even if the DS had an analog stick, it still doesn't feel right with the screens so small. I'd rather stick to playing the N64 version.

This game is no exception to the previous version found on Nintendo 64, only this is for the portable DS. I love this game and would totally recommend buying it! My favorite feature is how you can play the game as Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, and Wario! Super Mario 64 DS is ongoing, you can always play in a different level! This is a sure buy game if you have the Nintendo DS console!
Great addition to the DS collection

Mario fans will love this game. Typical storyline (save the princess from bowser) but still very fun. The levels in this game are not to difficult to complete, but they are challenging enough to keep you entertained for a good long while. I find the mini games very fun as well. There are a lot of things to unlock. This game has a lot of things that if your not careful, you'll probably miss. I personally enjoy that type of thing. Its fun to discover things that you didn't know where there. If your looking for a fresh twist on a modern classic - This is it!
I just cant seem to put it down (=_=")

I would also give this DS game a 4.5 bcuz the camera view angles are terrible. I keep having to readjust my view to see exactly where I'm going but the adventures are just as fun as it was on Nintendo64. If you don't feel in the mood for doing the adventure try playing the mini-games that you earn. I find them entertaining any time of the day. But if you happen to get stuck and need a little guidance through the game ... here's an excellent site that offers a walk-through for the entire game. Some level can be quite puzzling.

The Mario Brothers can always be counted on for fun! This is a great and challenging game that will keep you or your child occupied for hours - and on long trips that is definitely a bonus. The graphics are great and the levels interesting.

this game is great. i got it the day it came out and was amazed at how much they could cram into such a tiny game. its really easy to lose, and thats the only reason i gave it a 4 for durability.
Better Than The Nintendo 64 Version

I think this game is much better than the one for Nintendo 64. One of the things that is different than the one for the Nintendo 64 is that there are different characters. For example, when you first start the game you start with Yoshi instead of Mario. Another difference is that the game can be played up to four players. You can be Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi. It also comes with mini games. The game starts you out with two games per characters. So that means six mini games. I think all of the mini games are fun. To receive more mini games you must catch rabbits in front of the castle. Each of the four characters has its own moves. You still must fight everyone like Bob-omb, and Bowser. I don't think there is that much of a difference between both versions. I think this is one of the many great games for Nintendo DS.
Best DS game so far

If you have a DS and you don't have this game, id be suprised. It's a remake of the N64 favorite, so if your like me and you already had that game, it isn't that hard to beat. I beat it about 2 weeks after I got it, but the several mini games that are included make me still play the game a lot.
