Wow, this is an amazing game!!

Note to parents: You do not have to worry if you think that this game is too gory. The game is not gory at all. There is not a drop of blood shown in the game, so I think that anyone who has seen the movie can play the game.

When I first heard of the game I saw it on a commercial on T.V. I asked my mom for the game and a PS2 to play it on for my birthday.

When I first tried it out I was dazzled by the graphics. The graphics actually looked like the real movie. I got so into the game that I played for the next four hours. You can play as Aragon, Legolas, or Gimli. Legolas is very quick with his two knives and is a sharp shooter with his bow. Gimli is very strong and can take down an enemy with his mighty axe, but he is not very quick. Aragorn is more of a combination of the two. With a sword in his hand Aragorn can start a slaughter of orcs.

As you venture through the levels gaining experience points, fighting tougher orcs, learning sweet new moves, earning interviews with the actors, and gaining photos from the movie as your favorite character of the three, you will realize how amazing this game really is.

If you ask my advice of who to be (Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli) I think that you should be Legolas. I think so because Legolas is the fastest character of the three. He shoots arrows like lightning, he strikes with his knives faster than any character, and can use more powerful attacks faster than any of the three.

This game is worth every penny you spend on it. Oh, parents, do not be surprised if after your child has played the game for a little while that he will want the LOTR action figures!

gotta have it

I love lord of the rings and i waited outside the store a half an hour before it opened to get the movie the first day it came out. The movie will be a classic and so shall the game. You play as Aragorn(a.k.a. Strider), Legolas, or Gimli. there are up to sixteen levels in the game and at the begining of each level u can switch to any of the three characters. The game starts of at Weathertop( in the fellowship of the ring movie) and continues until the grand battle at helms deep. the computer characters are controlled by a.i. and I'm sure it will be a great game. Hope i helped.

Very Good Game, A bit Short

This is an awsome game! This game is perfect for any fan of the movie series. this game easily blows the Fellowship Of
The Ring out of the water. The game is very similar to Dynasty Warriors 2 and 3. You simply pick to play as Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. You then go through a level normally killing about 300 enemies and face one huge boss at the end. Each level (17 in all) has a boss at the end. The bosses are very easy to defeat if you know the correct way of beating them. Each one requires a different strategy. The game has very good graphics, some of the best I have seen on the PS2 I might add. Once you beat the level you are awarded experience points, that you can use to purchase combos, new axes or bows, or even extra armor.
The only downside however is the fact that you can beat the game with one character in about 6 hours. So 3X6=18 hours of gameplay. But you can play longer to unlock new scenes from the film and interveiws with the cast. Overall, it is a must buy for any fan!

5 stars if you like this type of game

LOTR: The Two Towers is simply a blast. It is an action packed romp right smack dab through the middle of Middle Earth. The game pretty much closely follows the action scenes through the first and second movies of New Line's cinematic adaptation of the Tolkien trilogy. A player starts out as Isildur battling the Orc minions(much like the opening scene of Fellowship of the Ring). Then you move on to the various battle scenes in Fellowship and in the new movie The Two Towers.
The game is an all out action game with charaters having a short range weapon (Aragorn-sword, Legolas- Knives, and Gimli- Battle Axe) as well as a long ranged attack(Aragorn and Legolas- Bows and Gimli- hand held throwing hatchets). You basically fight full speed through hordes and hordes of Orcs, Uruk-Hai, and Trolls. There are some bosses along the way, but the bulk of the battle is against Sauron's footsoldiers.Do not expect any food gathering, strategy, or exploration. This is not an RPG in any form or fashion. It is a pure mission based game much like Devil May Cry(only set in Middle Earth). If you buy the game knowing this then you should be in for a great treat.
GRaphics- The graphics are stunning. The character models look great(faces are not THAT great), the enemies look just like the Orcs and Uruk-Hai in the movie, and the backgrounds are lavish as well. Even when over 50 objects are fighting on screen there is absolutley no slowdown. I have not seen a PS2 game yet that can produce as many on screen enemies without slowdown. Simply a Beautiful game. The cut scenes are great as well as the story flows from movie to game almost seamlessly.
Gameplay-- Wonderful if you like intense upgradeable hand-to-hand combat. There are many combos to perform, and a player learns more as the game goes on.

*The only drawback to this game is its length. Some gamers have reported beating this game in one setting. I just don't see how. I am a seasoned gamer, and I have played this game for two weeks and cannot beat it. I think those people are playing on the "easy" setting, which I do not recommend. Anyways, if you like Tolkien, the movies, and great action/combo hack em' ups then go purchase this game today.
**I almost forgot to mention that the game has probably 15 minutes or more of movie footage, interviews, and other unlockables as well as a secret level and character that you can unlock. I need a holiday Gandalf.....a long Holiday!

Great blend of battle/quest

EA has done it again- the game actually starts right where the Fellowship movie started- with the ring being cut from Sauron's hand. Then a few more Fellowship levels (including a great sea monster at the mines entrance) and then it's all new Two Towers stuff. The gameplay is amazing- sort of a combo of Dead or Alive and Final Fantasy. Movement from film (a lot of actual Two Towers footage) and animation is very clever, and the music is awesome. This will be huge.

#1 On My List!

I had heard about this game before it came out and did a little research about it because I had just gotten into Lord Of The Rings. After my research, I knew that this was going to be my favorite game yet. It turned out that it was. It was so realistic, the movie scenes turning into the game was fantastic, and the gameplay was the best that I've ever seen. My favorite battles were the first battle of Helms Deep and the third battle of Helms Deep. Also, the way you can upgrade the persons skills and weapons is great! If you're a Lord Of The Rings fan, you'll love it, and if you aren't a Lord Of The Rings fan,try it and you'll love it too!

Finally a game worthy of its' license

Those who have been burned by Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for the PS2 should quickly forget that wretch of a game and give a good look to Electronic Arts' Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. You get to play as Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli as you fight your way through 11 levels of pure hack & slash action. The first half of the game is based on events in the first installment of the series, with the second half featuring events in the second installment. Graphic wise the game is top notch, these are some of the best graphics to be seen on the PS2 yet. Character models look like they're film counterparts and the animation is silky smooth. Slowdown is minimal at best, even when there are hordes of enemies on screen at once. Control is tighter than I could have ever expected, the easy targeting system and easy to execute chain attacks are very well done and simple to execute. The action moves at a very fast pace, so fast that you might be able to finish the game in one or two sittings; this alone is the game's biggest flaw but there are a few extras. Judging by your level by level performance, you can unlock extra features like a survival mode and even see video interviews with members of the film's cast. All in all, if your a fan of the license (or old school action games like Golden Axe) and you were burned by the PS2 Fellowship of the Ring, check out EA's Two Towers, you won't regret it.

Fast paced but a very good job by EA.

I just purchased EA's TLotR:The Two Towers and after playing through a few of the levels I must say that the first things you will notice are the striking similarities in the game to the movie. The way the story is being told was a bit confusing after the first level (which I must say was a treat, I won't give it away and spoil it for those who haven't played it yet) but after that I soon had a better idea as to how they were getting the background and events across. The way EA chose to integrate the movie into the game really makes you feel as if you are playing through your favorite parts of the movies. Now I just can't wait until The Two Towers hits theaters. If you are a fan of the movies or the books and even if you are just looking for a fun action game with lots of great character designs and voice work, you should check this game out. As soon as it was in the store I ran out and picked it up. Now I just have to get Universal's The Fellowship of the Ring.

An artistic game with great "flow"

This is not the kind of game I was expecting. Graphically, the game is stunning, even on a PS2 (which, despite having the greatest number of games, and the best console titles, tends not to stand up well graphically to XBox and GameCube). But even better than that is the way that the game goes from film from the movie to pre-rendered cut scenes to game play and back. For example, the game starts with Galadriel narrating the story of the creation of the rings, as seen in the movie. The battle between the Elves and Men and the army of Sauron then begins, and when it comes to the face of Isildur, the movie turns to a pre-rendered cut scene. Then, suddenly, you begin playing as Isildur (as a tutorial of sorts). This is the best and most creative way I have ever seen a tutorial incorporated into game. This is how the rest of the game runs.

For those of you who prefer to pop in a game and within seconds begin your hack-slash fest, this game might not be for you. Clips from the movie are woven throughout the game, and it might be a bit too much for some. But for fans of the books and the movie, this game is a must. The artistry and creativity that went into it are more than enough to recommend it.

Some have complained that it is too short. I haven't finished it yet, so I can't really say. But I don't spend hours per day gaming, so all games seem long to me. Others have complained that it is a hack-and-slash. I don't really think so. Simple button mashing doesn't work very well, and there are techniques you can learn to upgrade your character. I think too many people use the "hack-and-slash" moniker on any game that uses a sword.

Bottom line: this game is a must own for fans of LOTR. For others, it is at the very least a must rent. Kudos to the design team.

Super Interactive.

This is one of the best movie based action video games ever!
When I read the books, my imagination created scenes to depict how things were happening. Then the movie came out and blew me away with its astounding portrayal of the story. This game takes you to a even higher level, letting you control the story and fight your way side by side with other charactures. Don't hesitate to get this game, it's wonderful!
