This is q3a all over again. Once again we have a 3d shooter with good graphics but it just moves too fast. I can't keep up with anything in this game. I hate it. There is too much work for it to be fun.

I don't meant to criticize the game. It has neat graphics, interesting environment, and fast-paced action. I have just outgrown this genre. When I was younger, I could still play "Doom" for hours. This game is far more advanced than "Doom." But to every season there is a turn, to every age its own.

Fun or Bordum???

Unreal Tournament is a fun game in the many ways that you can play the game... (e.g. capture the flag, assualt, deathmatch, team deathmatch, last man standing etc) Some problems are that after you play it about 10 times it starts to get boring and Unreal has one of the worst online multiplaying games i have ever seen... The worst thing though is the guns, for example when you use a gun like the sniper it really ... cause u kill every1 in 1 shot same with the rocket launcher, redeemer, chainsaw, enforcers... plus the a.i.'s are horrible even when u put the skill level up all the way. This is a good game if you like to sit around and do practically nothing cept to click a button.

The mods make it good

UT is good itself, but Tac Ops and other mods make it good. It has better online play than other 1st person shooters, but is really bad on a dial-up connection. If you want better graphics ar more gore, get Soldier of Fortune instead, but it is decent.

This game is good but not even close to great.

This game has nothing fun about it. In fact what is fun. The only game that whips all games like Unreal Tournament and Quake3 is Half Life. Also buy Half Life Blue Shift its fun! But I played this game for about 1 week and got so bored of it. This game maybe cheap and alot of people rate it 5 stars dont buy it dont even dare. BUY HALF LIFE ITS A HELL OF ALOT BETTER!

One of the best deathmatch FPS for weaker PCs

Today, with the arrival of Unreal Tournament 2004, the original seems almost obsolete. However, there is one advantage the original has over its bigger brethren. The system requirements.

A PC required to run UT today would probably run you less than $300. Even at this price range, the system requirements would probably still be over the needed limits. How times change, huh? I know some people who remembers that UT was actually kind of difficult to run at the time of its release (I was only a console gamer at the time, so I didn't know). Imagine years from now when Doom 3's requirements would be considered nothing...

Anyway, as I've said before, the biggest advantage to this is the low requirements. If you have a weak PC, then you could simply opened up UT and get a quick fragging game on. You could play at maximum settings and still get 60fps (for those who don't know, that is EXCELLENT speed). As UT is meant to be a fast pace game, this is extremely important.

Speaking of which, that is probably the main appeal of this game. The ultra fast pace of the game adds tremendously to its gamelength. Supposedly, UT was released as a competitor to Quake II, but I had a chance to play Quake II later and I thought it was horrible compared to UT. Hell, I played Quake III later and thought it was horrible compred to UT. If you've played Quake before, then just take that and give it a few bottles of steroids.

While the pace is comparable to Quake, it is how you play it that makes it so much better. Whereas many of Quake's stages are often confining, UT gives you large stages that lets you roam around with a shaky trigger finger. The stages add tremendously, especially when you play Deathmatch. That reminds me, the game modes are GREAT! While there are many game modes, the two which are the best is probably Deathmatch and Capture the Flag.

Now, the speed and modes are great, but there is more. Online play and maps. There are ALWAYS people fragging online, so you never have to worry about lack of people to play with. This is great for when you have insomnia and want to stay up killing strangers online. Secondly, the downloadable maps are GREAT! Have a map from another game that you want to play? Search for it online and you might find it!

In conclusion, all of the aforementioned parts of UT gives it an extremely high replay value. Highly recommended for people who likes fast pace games and like to have a quick fragging round every once in a while. Not recommended for anyone who is disturb by mass bloodshed, but for those who don't mind it, go ahead and enjoy!

Great Game! but misleading advertisement

Fantastic game, but note that it does NOT come with Tactical Ops like this website says.
