Revolutionary

When it first came out, it was revolutionary for its excellent execution of "The Matrix" slow motion bullet-time scenes. In fact, bullet-time wasn't just an effect, it was actually a critical technique to master in order to dispense with the bad guys which was no easy trick to pull off but the developers did. The story and cut scenes are well made. The mood is perfectly created with appropriate incidental music, cut-scenes, and well-defined characters. There are even a couple of eerie nightmare scenes and levels that are memorable long after you've beaten the game.

Graphics were the selling point on this game, beats the graphics in Nocturne, hands down. But the game is much more then a piece of candy. The game pulls you into the character and before you know it you're avenging your wife and child. The violence isn't really graphic but the game is still very adult themed. Just thought I'd point that out before I went in any further. The game itself is just a treat, the music, the action, the graphics, the sounds, the weapons the story, oh yes, the story is wonderful. It's nothing original, it's the man who had his wife and child kill and hunts down the sleaze who did it and finds out why. People who liked the Punisher comics will love this game because it has a similar vibe to it. Except Max is an undercover cop... oh and the cop thing is used. The corruption of his partners will make you wonder about those cops at the donut shop the next time you pull in ;). Splendid game, I give it thumbs up... One thing, last I checked there was no patch for gamepad support. I usually insist on gamepads but the aiming and moving really requires the keyboard and it drags you in further.

The bullet time is the most impressive innovation ever added to any game. Makes it possible to defeat the impossible odds against you on this game. Great action, entertainment, keeps you goin for alot of time. There were a few minor glitches though, nothing that stopped or slowed the game, just some skipping frames every now and then. But i assure you that's the ONLY reason i gave it 4 instead of 5 Stars.

I got this game for my hubby for Christmas along with the Playstation 2 system. He absolutley loves it! It shows a lot of blood etc..the graphics are unreal, I guess that's why he likes it so much. I haven't gotten that much attention since Dec 2oo1. =)

After playing the demo i got hooked and i am going to buy this game right away.
Gameplay is outstanding and the matrix style effects are way cool.

Max Payne is short, and that is what most will tell. What it lacks in length it makes up in sheer gaming quality. The action is non-stop, the graphics are spectacular, and you will never forget bullet-time. After you have completed this unforgettable game, you will be attempting to pull off bullet-time in other games out of sheer habit, wishing you could pull off that slow-mo barrel roll over a bartable chasing 2 baddies:). The storyline is great, and for action junkies the comic book format will help keep them focused. One of the great features that makes up for the lack of multiplayer tenfold, are the great mods available...

I heard some things about this game. One day as i passed it in an electronics store I picked it up and started looking. The game looked alright but for the price i was a little iffy. I said what the heck and bought it. Now this game is one of my favorites. The graphics are amazing. I cannot describe how realistic the images look. This game was worth every penny. If you like shooting games like GTA3 the i reccomend 100% be warned that this game is not for little kids.
