This is simply a great game, personaly I enjoyed it very much. The best part was the bullit time feature, without it the game would be just another trashy shooter. The only thing I do not quite understand is that the system requierments called for a 16mega byte graphic card, yet it ran perfectly on my 8mega byte.........

Game is action packed and very violent. High system requirements. It's also quite difficult getting thru many levels without resorting to a little cheating now and then. Controls are thankfully simple. Well worth the money.

For anyone who is looking for a first person shooter that really shows what the new generation of graphics cards can do...Max Payne is it. Mad Onion's 3d mark 2001 benchmarking software uses a hotel lobby scene from Max Payne as one of its measuring tools to test high end graphics cards. Max Payne is an amazing, entertaining game and with the invention of "bullet time" technology (ala the Matrix) a player can slow down the action and be treated to one of the true marvels in computer gameing in the last five years. I recomend this game to everyone but be forewarned....the game requires alot of computer power to run it.
Recommended requirements are 700 mhz amd or intel processor with 128 mb of ram and a 32 mb card. Buy this game!!!! and have fun!

For quite some time there was a major gap between shooters that are just a blast to play, and those that have a slick innovation or cool idea. Max Payne combines those two very nicely. Easily the best shooter since Half-Life, Max adds the element of a story and script that is classic in its detective noir style and the new, Matrix-like bullet time game innovation.
Have you ever wondered how action heros like Mel Gibson and Arnold always make it solo through huge gun battles? They had bullet-time!
The game play is a bit on the short side, but its a good ride while you go through it, especially with the gritty realistic settings. The boss battles are definitely the most difficult part of the game. And the hidden touches throughout the game only add to the style. Something annoying you in the game? It probably annoys Max too... so shoot it!

I don't think I've played a game this good in years. Every promise Remedy made they delivered on and then some. The story is excellent and delivered very well, interwoven throughout the gameplay but not once getting in the way. The graphics are great, especially the texturing (incidentally an incredible NYC Subway rendition). The controls are straightforward for any FPS fan and feel just right. The game is also very stable, it's been awhile since you could buy a new game and not have to worry about crashes or lockups. And the Bullet Time system is _not_ a gimmick. I can understand if people might expect it to be, I certainly had my doubts, but it actually works beautifully as a gameplay element and will get you saying "that was so cool" almost every time.
Go ahead and order it up, its worth every penny. Kudos, Remedy!

I recently played the red faction demo, which I enjoyed, but I found myself wishing for bullet time; the feature which slows Max's perception of time so he can wreck havok. While Max Payne may not be as inventive as others in terms of scripted sequences, charecter animations and A.I. it has made all other shooters feel like random click fests. The graphics are beautiful and the combat is much more satisfing than most other shooters. This is one of the few games I will problaby replay at least once.

It has not been so impressive on me as the Duke Nuke'em 3D few years back, but still it is one of the best games in its class (FPP shoot them up). It has good plot, nice movie sequences and good graphics. It was so enjoyable that I played it until the very end, seldom using the walktrough or cheats (they were necessary onlu twice through the whole game). Well worth the money.

Max Payne is an outstanding game for any 3d-shooter lover. It has a new slow motion in real-time to provide a different experience. The computer AI is good and realalistic. The graphics and sound are great along with the intrigate story. But if you are purchasing this game be very aware that it is one of the most graphic games on the market. it contains a lot of mature content from blood to sex. But the gameplay is handsdown one of the best.
One problem is the lack of multiplayer or on-line play which would not be possible because of the slow-motion capability.
Unbelieveable game!

Great Game, Great Story and a LOT of fun to play. It's a bit high on the system requirement side, I'm running a P4 1.3ghz, 128mb RAM, and a NVIDIA3 Ti200 graphic card and it still slows down in heavy action. Aside from that, this game is definitely one of the best games ever created. If you like first person shooters, then this game is definitely for you.

WOW!!! This is definitely the best game of the year! With a new feature that allows you to go into Matrix-style slow-motion, it is the only game to employ such a feature. PC Gamer calls this feature, "Slo-mo gives you an inventive advantage over the opposition... and it also happens to be the most fricken' cool device ever employed in an action game." The graphics are truly stunning, the story is excellently written, and it has one of the best plots in an action game. The Mature label is correctly applied, since there is a lot of animated blood, violence and suggestive themes, such as a the player killing a devil-worshipping maniac. This third person shooter will replace Half-Life as the definitive action game!
