the game plays well. thr graphics are unbeliable. they are so real that you wish you were there.
fun to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

this game is great . great graphics , great shooting . . . I'm playing on normal level , and sometimes have a hard time getting through rooms in some of the later levels , so you might want to play it on the easiest level if you aren't a really hardcore gamer . anyway .. . what are you waiting for ?!? buy this game now !

the voice acting kills the atmosphere just about everytime it pops up.

Over a year after the games come out, you still can't play the game at maximum settings. The physics are good, the weapons are well balanced, and the objectives are challenging. You don't have to kill everything that moves, and like in Thief, snaking is sometimes a REQUIRED order of the day.

This was a great game to tied me over until Half-Life 2 came out, and even with the bad voice acting, it's still worth loading every now and then just to get beat up by the very good AI.

DA CORTEZ: "First, thegraphics are not the best quality and yes, I do have a current video card with all of its uodates. Whenever I shoot someone in the far distance I get blood pixelating before my eyes blocking my view. The game freezes every few minutes. I can't adjust the sound so I have to turn up my speaksers just to hear the gun shots and the voice overs are drowned out by the background noises."

This guy obviously has a crappy computer, or a good computer with some kind of problem.

The gameplay is first rate. The graphics are simply astounding. Probably one of the best FPS's around. Warning: you must have a high-end PC to play. That means 1012 RAM, a Pentium IV processor above 2.0G and a high end video card, the more RAM the better.

Fun and exciting, this game will likely keep your interest if you're an FPS fan. Graphics are excellent (I'm running and AMD FX-51 with a 256MB ATI Radeon 9800 XT and 2GB RAM). The game is difficult on anything but the easy setting but has yet to become tedious for me.

Anyone that says that this game is absolutly rubbish because of the game crashing and it plays terribly havent figured out that just because it doesnt work for you and it wont play fine for you it might play well for others and have a much better computer. I am running it on a 1.54 GHz, 256 MB RAM and a Radeon 9600 256MB graphics card and it plays amazing on high with a resolution of 800 X 600 and i know these specs arent top notch but the fact is you dont need an amazing pc to still enjoy an amazing game.

Far Cry will hold you over until HL2 and Doom3 release!

The game is very, very good on multiple levels. The image and sound quality is scalable, so your 3 year-old machine will *probably* be able to run it. Your brand-new machine that you have on order will run it well.

Some of the technology we've been waiting for in Half-Life2 and Doom3 is already being used in Far Cry.
The story is somewhat original, and the graphics, sound, and AI are pretty much on par with games yet-to-be-released.
Highly recommended!

This is the best first person shooter I've ever played, and I've played many. It has the best graphics, and even more important, it has the best gameplay of any game on the market. It uses music for great suspense, and the weapons are really interesting and accurate. Games can get better than this but any game developer should study this game before designing one!

Trouble in Paradise

This game suffers greatly from a shortage of creativity. The island setting is nice, but the gameplay is far from paradise.
The weapons are practical, if somewhat boring. It seems that Ubisoft has created a world where very little AI is needed. Indeed, very little intelligence of any sort is required. FPS fans will be ready for whatever this game dishes out.
The enemies are pretty retarded. Run up to a merc with body armor and watch him stand rock-solid as you unload your m14 into his chest. Okay, he might not be dead, but he wouldn't be standing there still with his bead drawn on you.

Stupid fun. The videogame equivalent of a Rock movie. Big suprise, the Rock is rumored to be starring in the possible Far Cry movie. This game can't shake its arcade feel, and is devoid of soul. Strangely enough, the action is kinda slow as well.

Far Cry is an enjoyable first person shooter with entertaining physics and very good AI. The enemies, the genetically engineered ones anyway, are genuinely spooky. Had more than one episodes of the chills playing this game. The game graphics are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Complaints about the game? The vehicles drive like my 72 pinto, lack of in game save abilty, lack of character progresion, and a lack of interesting weapons.

That having been said the game is so well balanced, that you don't mind so much about those shortcomings.

Till doom III, Deus Ex III or half life 2 come along this is a great fix
