The Extreme Let Down

Here's the main deal, one day I lost track of how much left over money i had, so i counted, and I ended up with 120 dollars! I decided to take it to Best Buy and buy Half-Life 2, after buying half-life 2, i still had a lot of money left, so i was thinking about buying the remastered half-life 1, but I saw Doom 3, and remembered the awesome commercial I saw for it. I picked it up and took it home. I expected an amazing game such as doom 1 and 2, but instead it was terrible! Doom 3 is nothing but a scarier first person version of the Men In Black 2 game! You get trapped in a room with aliens, you kill them, then you move onto the next room of aliens, up until you find a somewhat bigger and scarier alien that is referred to as the boss. The game will most likely be over in 4 or 5 days, and the alien's graphics are somewhat really bad for the time, so I dont know what else to say but Doom 3 isn't worth the money!

I played the alpha the other day. People, if this is what the game will be like get ready for a bore-fest. Sure its purty, but that won't make a difference if there's no gameplay. I have a bad feeling this game will disappoint many.

D3 is looking really nice but I have to agree with vanzagar...

Kingpin 2 needs the graphic enginge...I also like to add that KINGPIN is the best gangster game ever.....Why doesn't amazon have this on sale?....If some one knows please post if for me....

This game has bin delayed so many times its probably not going to come out...I loved Doom 1...I was an addict to that game...I never played D2 but I can't wait for D3....I
saw the Trailer for Xbox version and that also shocked me..Cause the Graphics are just as good on the pc version!..

Oh well...Hope this game comes out soon...

Aside from the fact the game is beyond overdue, the fact remains that other games are simply better or on-the-level of Doom3. The Half-Life2 engine, though also belated, presents a much more realistic and engrossing atmosphere. Yes, yes, Doom is going for that "horror" thing. The thing is, and any artist will tell you this, the EXTREME shading that Doom3 is going for is the OLDEST TRICK in the book. It is there to simply hide their lack of actual detail and motion. They simply have all the objects with light-effects and bumps to create a "ooo that's pretty" kind of look. This game would have been amazing if it was released when it was supposed to have, a long time ago.

I'm also willing to be this game isn't as nearly as back-scalable as the HL2 engine will be--or any modern engine at that. If iD expects us all to buy a GeForce29,000XT because their corperate love-budy nVidia wants us to, then they can shove a few sticks of RAM up their #$@.

If you ordered it, cancel it. Wait and see what the final product looks like. Frankly, iD, j00 r duh idiotz.

Yes! Well at least I hope it's as good as I want it to be. Otherwise we will be screwed with another Unreal 2, but I have confidence in Id's ability to make a fantastic single player game (with some coop for xbox players).

With luck, it will also beat the shiznat out of Resident Evil in terms of fear factor.

i have played the doom3 alpha test demo that has ben leaked on tha internet and belive me the graphics own!!! BIGTIME!!! the frame rate is kinda bad,but that is only because of a real early alpha, final version will be much better.

I got a 1.2ghz athlon, gf3 ti200 64MB, 512MB DDR (2100) RAM!!!

i know alot of u wont even beleive me but i got screen shots for proof that i have it :)

p.s. i dont check these reviews often!!! just look around hard enough on tha internet and u will find it :)

The Best Engine I've seen in years...

DOOM III is going to be one of the most decent games of the year, luckly I downloaded a movie of it, and the 4 minute footage, even at a low resolution with quicktime 5, looked incredible. I don't care about the game play, I just care about the engine. Doom III has the best most realistic lightning effects I've seen in years. And the incredibly real-time amount of detail thrown into it is just unbelievably convient for a huge upgrade in the gaming industry - considering the engine. I own a Pentium 4 2.66ghz with Windows XP Proffensional OS, ALL IN WONDER ATI RADEON 9700 Pro, 1.5GB of ECC 1066Mhz RDRAM, Creative Lab's Sound Blaster Audigy 2, Dolby Digital Surround 5.1, DirectX 9.0a, Windows XP Home Edition, two 120GB HDS, and more. I tried the alpha demo of doom 3 last week, and it ran great. It is so icnredible, the zombies are so scary and realistic, even when you think they are dead, they ain't. DOOM III is quite voilent and gory, thus, lagged a bit at high resolutions. <800x600, 1024x768, 1124x864, 1280x1024, 1600x1200, etc>. The graphics were just unbelievable. The game play isn't perfects though. I suppose DOOM III will require a Pentium 4 1.5Ghz, with a NVIDIA GeForce 3, and 256 mb ram. Pretty high, but remember, DOOM III will be released some time in 2003, so there will be much better hardware such as hardware that exceeds the radeon 9700 pro, and the intel pentium 4 3.06ghz. Not much else, it should be even better once it's [hopefully] released for the XBOX! I suppose that DOOM III should be ... DAMN GOOD!!

i agree with the gamer that i think posted on december 12th? doom 3 will be a very punishing game. all u ppl with dells,hp,compaq, and those other big manufacturers are probly going to have to upgrade your vid cards, maybe your processor,and get more and faster ram. the manufacturers are notorious about trying to give you junky, way outdated geforce 2 and geforce 4 mx cards to lower the price of your computer. invest, if u can, into a geforce 4 ti card or one of the different 9700 cards. im waitin for nv30, "geforce fx" or ati's coming card, "r350". I just finished my new computer, a p4 2.4 overclocked to 2.9, 256mb of ddr333 overclocked to ddr400 levels, a geforce 4 ti at311core/545memory. Ill just pop in a new vid card and another 512mb of ram when doom 3 comes out, I want to be able to take full advantage of doom3s great graphics(although very taxing)engine. I agree, i dont want to be looking around for keys or passcodes in a game like this, ill do that kind of sneak-up special ops work in a game like splinter cell or soldier of fortune 2. grab urself a nice 5.1 system for this game, thatll be real nice. just get a job and u can afford it. AND WHATS THIS THIS ABOUT A LIMIT OF 4 IN MULTIPALYER?!?!?!?!?!? i hope its just hype and the game would support like 16 players.

Doom 3 as said above is a very new level of games. A g-force3 at least will run it, but will lag. there are 3 main things you need to worry about.
prossesser speed which you can only get so high on because of your other componets (motherboard, os, ext.)

memory

and video card i reccommend a radon 9700 but thats me

if you cant upgrade i reccomend getting a new one made for gameing

there are two companies i reccomend
[computer company] adn [computer company]

[[computer company]is better known but i have a friend who has one and doesent like the name branded in the side and the tech support

[computer company]is lesser known and i discovered by accedent. I bought one and love it and the tech support + you can coustimise it.

your choice reputation or quality.
