Time to make Kingpin 2 from this engine...

Played the Beta, and ya the graphics look good and the lighting looks nice, no doubt it will be a fun game, but enough of the cyborg mutated human theme. Human's altered with machines or drugs to be uber tough, how many times are we going to see this, Farcry, Quake 1, 2, 3, Doom 1, 2, 3, Dues ex 1,2 ...etc ...etc ...etc
Now Kingpin that had a cool environment, I hope someone takes this engine and creates an adult mature game within a ghetto environment. Some dark alleys, garbage cans on fire, under bridges, crack houses, office buildings with the occasional base thumping rap tunes and cop sirens in the distance. Add in some street bums, crack dealers, hookers, mafia types, adult languange and content and we'd have such a sweet game...
Enough of this cyborg mutated human crap it's been done to death already...
or how about even a cop game where u are a police officer driving around in a car breaking up gangs and stopping drug deals and thefts... so many possibilities...

As an avid videogamer and movie buff, I knew Doom 3 would definitely be one hell of game, but I never knew how much a game could seem so visceral and lifelike. Utilizing state of the art hardware and technology of the modern computing world, Doom 3 is the most immensely detailed, award winning game I have ever played in my life. The game is brilliantly choreographed as the player advances throughout the levels. Horrifying cinematics and gruesome, frightening enemies literally surprise the hell out of the gamer as one advances through the epic story line. Basically, the synopsis of the plot is based on the Mars-alien sci-fi correlation mixed with opening the gates of Hell on Mars. Dr. Petruger, the ghastly sadistic scientist, has found a way to open the gates of Hell through the extensive help of a massive scientific conglomerate that is stationed on Mars. You play an amateur marine that starts off in a standard, serine environment of the Mars Marine Command, but quickly you are put in pathway Dr. Petruger's sadistic agenda, serving commands from your superiors, and deciding the fate of Earth (ultimately stop the spread of hell pouring over to Earth). Overall, I would NOT recommend this game for children! When I first played this videogame my adrenaline was pumping so hard I literally had to take periodic brakes because the game was so real. If you play this game at full, high graphics the game becomes extremely real. Now with my disclaimer already stated, get out there and pick up this game!
This game is scary, but you need a good computer for effects

I loved Doom3, it was everything I hoped for. The newest system I just built on an 850e chipset, 1 gig of 1066 RDram and a 3.06 CPU under a 6800 Ultra look amazing in 1024 x 768 highest detail. I had a slightly less system and it did not compare because you could not turn the quality and the resolution up at the same time and still get the framerate. Monsters Jump out from dark areas and from behind walls and scare the crap out of you. The flashlight is great! Pain in the but, but it makes the first few levels very nerve racking. Best first person shooter I have ever played. But, hey, Half Life 2 isnt out, Yet! Enjoy!

Playin this game is just amazing. I'm not sure why many people complain about the darkness. For me, the demons in the dark corners waiting to pound upon is very challenging. This feature tests how good your reflexes are. Also, the game just doesn't leave you clueless in the dark, you could farely make out from the sound that some demon is about to approach you.
The graphics and sound effects are flawless.
I'm able to enjoy this game even on an Inspiron 8600 which has 512 MB RAM and 32Mb Video Card, that doensn't meet the required specs to play this game.

Bottom line, if you have an ATI card don't bother buying the game. For example:

Why doesn't task switching work? Trying to task switch effectively locks the game up. If I leave it long enough for the screen saver to kick in it does the same.
Dell Inspiron 8600
Pentium M 1.7GHz
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 128MB
Windows XP Pro

Hi,
Thank you for expressing an interest in Activision products. I'm sorry you're having problems with DOOM 3. Task switching does this likely because your video card and system are barely capable of running the game and so when you switch tasks it causes a lock up. Task switching does actually work with the game and I can switch tasks quite easily from the system I am currently using.

Doom 3 is a game that will push high end computer systems to their limits. The graphics, sounds and gameplay are all excellent. If there is something you do not like about this game, chances are you can find a Mod file on Fileplanet to fix it. The game is very dark, but you could get a mod file that attaches flashlights to your weapons.
I would recommend playing this game at least once all the way through without any mod files or cheat codes. The makers of Doom 3 made it to create the feeling that you are actually living in a horror movie. Through story, graphics, sound and lighting they really accomplished this task.
I would not recommend this game for children, but for horror loving adults it is a game that you should not be without.
Finally ITS HERE!

ID Software are historical innovators. This game is AMAZING.
The people that complain about performance MUST realize that it is 2004 and you can't run this game on the PC you bought around the release of QUAKE.
I'm running this game on P4, 1.8ghz, XFX 5700 and 768 RDRAM. my PC is 3 years old and has an upgraded video card (which YOU MUST DO FOR THIS GAME!) The only performance problem I get is when there are about 6 or 7+ monsters.
I've recently finished this game - and let me tell you - all levels are UNBELIEVABLE.
Gamers in around late 20's to early 30's will appreciate HOW COOL THIS GAME IS!!!!!!!!!
The next generation of FPS is here

Put quite simply, this game does live up to the hype. I'm been playing first-person shooters since the days of Doom2 on IPX LANs. I recall with a certain fondness when I saw the very first Quake technology demos with full 3D. iD has come a VERY long way since then... with Doom3, it's time for the next level.
Sure, some other reviewers have complained about the "hefty" performance requirements. But many of them fail to mention how playable and enjoyable the game is at the lower resolutions and image quality settings. Even at 800x600 at Medium/High detail the game looks fantastic. If you dare to go to the highest resolutions and maximium quality settings, you will be treated to near photorealistic images that will indeed tax even the most powerful video cards on the market today. This game engine will definitely be powering many games for a good long time.
Yea, you can definitely compare this game to the original Half-Life but the atmosphere and action of this game is on a different level. The darkness and the sounds of the game are well-thought out and add even more to the creepiness and immersion. Having to switch from the flashlight may seem like a liability at times, but NOT using the flashlight can sometimes lead to your advantage. Having the flashlight and the overall darkness prevalent throughout the game is an interesting game design element. I think iD implemented it well. This game takes full advantage of image quality as well as sound quality of your system.
I'm running Doom3 on a AlthonXP 3200+ w/ an ATI Radeon 9600... even my friend who is playing on a low budget video card is able to run it and enjoy it at 640x480. It looks great even then. Don't let "high system requirements" put you off... buy this game!
