Let me tell you, Doom 3 is an incredable game. It has great design (despite what other idiots will tell you), it has phenomenal graphics, and fun and scary gameplay. But when it all comes down to it, it was made as a remake of the original Doom. It was NOT id's intention to make a killer new game that lives up to the standards of today's games like Halo or Far Cry. It was designed to recreate the beauty of the original, and it accomplishes this VERY well. I absolutely love this game, and I hope that everyone is able to experiance it as I did. But you should take into consideration the insane system requirements, and CANNOT be fully eperianced without an up to date video card with 256 mbs of video memory, and at LEAST 512 mbs of RAM, especially running on Ultra graphics mode.
This game is going to be awesome, no doubt about it

Okay, I've never really played this game, considering this review was written before it came out, but I can tell you, just by watching 4 minutes of footage from this game, I can say it will out-to EVERY game ever before it. When this is out, buy it. Don't even hesitate.

I can't believe people keep bashing this game. The graphics are easily the best I've ever seen. The lighting, textures, characters, monsters are all great.
The flashlight thing does take some getting used to, but it adds a ton to the creepy feel of the game. It's pretty scary to see a monster just as the lights go out and then have to try to kill it in the dark, with only the flash of your gun to tell where it is. It just adds another level of difficulty and realism that I really enjoy.
As a huge fan of the original Doom, Doom 2, Quake, etc... games, as well as just about every other FPS since them, I have to say that id did not disappoint. Doom 3 was well worth the wait.
Review: Doom 3, flawed attempt to re-create old series

whoa!
This is the review of what some consider to be the scariest game around. No, I'm not talking about the Teletubbies game, but I am talking about Doom 3. Doom 3 is a re-make of the old Doom series that interested and haunted millions of players. The series also had a lot of controversy for blood, gore, and Satanic themes; this latest version of the Doom series is partially different.
You play a name-less marine who is sent to Mars City; after exploring a bit of the base, you eventually run into zombies after an encounter with a scientist. Eventually you learn that they accidentally opened a gate to Hell (D'oh!) and soon have to fight whatever is in there that tries to kill you to death. All kinds of monsters from zombies to demons and beyond can be a bit challenging for some people; but for some, this is right up their alley.
The graphics of Doom 3 is very dark and detailed. It looks really nice, even by todays standards which consist of Xbox 360 and PS3. At times you never know whats coming at you as some monsters will try to sneak up your back. Although it does get predictable at times, Doom 3 can still make you jump a bit. The weapons sound underpowered, but deadly to the spawns of Hell. The flashlight is an important tool for Doom 3 as it adds some light (shocker!); but, you can't have both flashlight and a gun at the same time. A lot of people never liked this; I did because Doom 3 wouldn't be as challenging.
Many people called this the scariest game around; I couldn't disagree more. Yes, the atmosphere is creepy and monsters can be a challenge; but make no mistake that Doom 3 tries but fails in the end. The other game F.E.A.R involves disturbing and Shining-like moments, while Doom 3 attempts to have monsters jump out of closets; and that usually doesn't work for people that can get used to games like these. If you want to ignore this review and buy it, go ahead; but this isn't for the kids.

Id Software is the godfather of the first-person shooter. Making titles such as Doom, Quake, and Wolfensteine, they have always been the best. Now Id is bringing the most powerful and interactive gaming engine to date to the PC gaming world and it is in the form of Doom III. I'm going to buy it and so should you.
Don't play alone!

This is an awesome but hard game for me to play. It is repetitive, same ol' monsters waiting around every corner. Too dark! Can't see!
Other than these quirks, it is a fun game if you turn up your surround sound and cut off all the lights!
AAARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!

Why is this game getting pushed back so far?! At least Valve had an excuse (source code got stolen) but Activision doesn't have a leg to stand on. I upgraded my PC when I heard about these games...now my upgrades are obsolete!! The funniest thing is that UBI Soft came out of nowhere with FarCry and beat Valve and Activision to the punch. This game better kick massive ass for all of these delays!!
