Ultimately "legacy called" fps such as Doom, Quake, Unreal, Half-Life, No One Lives Forever, etc, have been the most ideal, thus, their SEQUELS, on the other hand, have been a disapointement unless yourself is considering the technical area of rating. So far, from the previews and interviews, the most impressive area has been GRAPHICS ENGINE for Doom 3, so I'll tell ya what. When Doom 3 DOES hit shelves, take a hard long narrow look at your money, take a look at what all these sequels have become out of these old but great fps, and look at a 60-100$+ doom 3 game for pc that has super high system requirements and appears to apparently be most graphically impressive, knowing you'll have to spend all this money to upgrade your computer, plus buying doom 3, and plus tax, and think to yourself: "Is it really worth it to take another chance at another lame-seeming sequel?". Because if you think the alpha is good it only seems to be good for graphics, and it will be SOME WHAT like the final retail of doom 3. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Doom 3 will be the genre changing revolutionary truly great fps, but consider it the other way. What if the most anticipated highly awesome seemingly game of 2003/2004 is just a complete disapointement? Then what? Then you stick with the old games and never trust any new games again because what game developers don't understand is a tech-impressive only game doesn't make a game like 95% of the gamer's population in the world wishes to experience. Heh heh.
Doom3 is not for casual players

I found this product to be a bust. After years of all the doom games we were very excited to finally get the new doom. The game is so top end on graphics that only specialty hardware can really run it. This is nothing more than a slide show on both of my new computers. Finally I found one computer that could run it and found it not to be the shoot-em-up game of the first dooms but more of an adventure game. You have to get into this one and really figure out all the clues. It's not a get on and blast away kind of game.
Poor gameplay

I've played the beta version of the game and i have to say: the gameplay is not a big deal, is just shoot reload over and over again, IT AINT NOTHING NEW ,the only really cool stuff are the graphics and sound, i hope the final version wont be to lineal as the beta cuz if it is , this game is gonna suck .

The pictures, I CANNOT WAIT to get it! Of course it comes out the day before my birthday, so that is one of the things I am going to get. I have been a loyal DOOM fan since playing it for the first time almost 10 years ago on the Macintosh. I also got a chance to beat Doom 2, which was a HUGE FEAT for me for being 9.
Now after so many years, and playing and beating Doom, Final Doom, Doom 64 on the N64 and the PS1, now my dreams are coming true! The monsters are F***ing scary and the enviroments are F***ing realistic! I have played other FPS, but Doom will ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE FPS. I have gotten a chance to play Halo on the XBOX, but nothing with ever outbeat the game that started it all. Cannot wait for it, so ID hurry up because this Doom fan wants to kill some Imps with my BFG!

No series draws you in like Doom. Play it with the lights off and the sound up and sit real close. The developers have promised a story and more immersion than before. It`s the action I want. Despite what others say its not just an easy shoot-shoot. You can play it that way and be half-ass. Or you can become the hunter and really play the game. If what I read early on still holds...MP and a level editor.....and the DOOM community will mod the hell out of this game. I`m already collecting textures and music.....let the hunt begin.

This game is stupid.

It doesn't even follow through with the original doom games and their storylines. besides, what happened to Final Doom? FINAL DOOM. It was even said that final doom was the last doom game there would be.I consider doom 3 a rip off.
Boost-up.

...and that evolution will be started by DOOM III. When DOOM was first released in 1993, IT was the game that displayed gaming evolution. DOOM 1 offered what no other game has at it's past time; a whole new atmosphere to interact in. It set the new standards for FPS gaming and GAMING. But compared to today's standards, it looks like a ant compared to mike tyson, 2x worse.
Let's just put it in those terms. Doom 3 will not only put you in pre-rendered CG PIXAR quality graphics with amazing realistic sound effects, having you not notice the difference between reality and video gaming, including mp and sp modes, it'll put you in amazing game play atmosphere that will begin a new era of gaming. Not the third party* era of gaming, NO, the fourth party era of gaming. Expect Doom 3 to show up at E3 once again soon and be released on March 1rst, 2004. Yes, a little far aways from now. Doom 3 WILL be a very demanding game though. In may 2002, when it was previewed, it was said it would require at least a geforce 3 with a 1ghz p3 or equivelant processor with lots of RAM and more. It sounds huge. It seems like your at least gonna need a beefy fairly-state of the art system(WinXP Pro, P4 2.8-3.06ghz+, 512-1gb of ram!, DirectX9a, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5800 ULTRA or ATI Radeon 9700, Sound Blaster Audigy 2, a huge hard drive, etc...)to turn on all the fancy-prancy visuals and other effects that add amazing depth and realism to gaming. Multiplayer will be seen in a whole new way. The beyond-revolutionary light and shadow will be actually put to use in doom 3, as it was in splinter cell, just looking at a much higher quality and more realistic and a lot more use of it. The shadows look so freagin' realistic, your gonna need at least a top of the line graphics card to enable real-time shadows in doom 3. Lightning also looks very realistic. And more. All I gotta say it come with a prepared system and cross your fingers when you install doom 3 to gain the ultimate without lurching foward into a universe of video gaming. Good luck! ;-)

Doom fans there's a new doom in town. Now this doom has nothing to do with the last two dooms. Although eather way you know it's going to be a big hit on both PC and Xbox. The difference between the two is that the PC started in 2000 and the Xbox started in 2003 January. But don't think that the PC would suck becuse it definitly will not. Again this game isn't Rated but most likley will be rated M.
