As many of you know the negatives already, save system, text problems with non-high def tvs, and stupid AI, but once you go past all of that it is a truly great game. Compelling Story to the point of me not wanting to drop my controller down. Once you get used to everything in the game and get higher levels in the level system you will truely want a Sequel to the game. I will say this you will get frustrated with the game for the first 1-2 like me, but it will soon begin to change once you are acustomed to the gameplay and how it is setuped.
How the hell do you follow the story

How the hell do you follow the story, when the Font is so tiny you can not read it. Here are some of my other complaints.Silly save system, the whole camera thing is just Daffy, I really don't know what Capcom was thinking with that whole deal. While I am on the camera bit ,that whole sickening honey soaked voice that keeps repeating , niccce , grrrreat, perrrfect, evreytime you take a picture.Ahhhhh stuuuupid. That voice , so reminds me of the house of the dead series by Sega.BUT at least in that context it worked as a arcade shooter. But in a survival horror genre it just makes something that should of been serious and hardcore into something dopey.Plus as other reviewers have complained ,if a Zombie does grab you , about all you get to do is watch your character being eaten. This game had such potential, it should have been creepy and dark.Of course it's an RE1 -2 -3 clone but that fine, Those were great games. What a bummer ,Now with the 360 I finally thought I was going to get really disgusting Return of the Living Dead Zombies, and I did ,but that does not make up for all the negatives like its apples and cameras ,the tiny fonts.Take a game like gears of war and replace the Locust with really decayed zombies in the crumbling dark urban environment and add Gears awesome game play and almost perfect controls and they would have given survival horror fans something they have wanted for a long time. But unfournatley what we ended up with was, some pansy running around a mall with a camera strapped around his neck and snapping pretty pictures when we should have been snapping zombies necks.
Don't buy this game

While the game is playable the story of the game is completely impossible to follow if you do not have a HDTV. The text is small and blurry on my big Sony WEGA TV. Unfortunately if you are doing a quest you have to read screen after screen of this. I had to return the game. Looks like fun on a HDTV.

It should be fun but it's like a frozen pizza. No matter what fresh pizza tastes better.... this is just a frozen pizza version of a fresh pizza game. I know it doesn't make sense... but the game doesn't either. It's frustrating. The save feature is really annoying and you get stuck trying to kill a boss. I didn't think it was very fun. Just download the demo on XBOX live. Save some bucks. Repetive game play. Walk and stalk... yuck. Frozen Pizza baby.
This game is fun, but a few poorly desgined aspects ruined the game imo

Right from the start the game is awesome.
Mashing zombies with whatever you can find, and saving people in the mall is great.
But the one thing that ruined my fun is that the npc text is wayyy too small that you have no clue where to go or what to do because you can't even read what the hell they are talking about.
If they would release a patch or somthing on xbox live to fix this problem the game would be allot better. ALOT better. Other then that the game is great, but then again since you can't read the text the game completely sucks because you don't know what the hell you're supposed to be doing.
Still playing it, even after beating the game.

This is a solid game with a great deal of story and a load of things to do. I have never been hooked on a game for so long as I have been with Dead Rising. Even after the game is over the storyline continues with more missions. Plus it is just a darn fun zombie killer.
How can you argue with hitting a zombie on the head with a TV?

To sum up some of the great reviews preceding me for the short attention spanned (i.e. people like me).
The good
- Great Game, with number of various things to do, and in many different ways.
- Hilarious at many points of the game.
- Great number of weapons. The way they are used are great. The variety is great. The sounds they make when used are recorded and executed really well.
The Bad
- Text based communications. Most of the interactions beyond cut scenes are through text on the screen, which is microscopic even on my friends 50 some inch screen TV. We had to move up right in front of the TV and then could barely make it out.
- Saving... you can only save one file per memory slot (hard drive, external memory card, etc) and you can only save at certain points on the map. So if you don't leave enough time to get from Point A to Point B. You're done, and restart the game with the abilities/experience you've acquired thus faar.

This game is a rental at best. The graphics are OK, but the story is lame and the controls are steps behind what I am expecting in the year 2006. When the characters interact, most of the dialog is typed on the screen, not spoken. How lame is that? This game has that Capcom feel; that sort of few-steps-behind video gaming that I expect from these guys. As a huge zombie fan, I will play it but they can't make me enjoy it. RENT THIS GAME.
