This is not your typical RPG you'd expect from sony's new platform. The story line seems childish the majority of the game. The object of the game is to rebuild a town you fight enemies and travel through boards obtaining these floating spheres. While its no Final Fantasy it may please some,me,I find it mediocre.

Ukiah Northern California ,
too much dunen fighting, not much adventure, I fought 40 dungens & there really hard, u always run out of water & die. I want more adventure, less spending time in dungen levels, nintendo 64 ( The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask) Terrible Game too, waste of time.

i hate this game!!!! it is sooo boring! i haven't even finished th first level!!! the hack and slash is sort of fun though but the weapon dovelopment is totally stupid every time you hit something your sword or whatever loses a point and you have to put this powder so that it doesn't brake. and when your in a dungeon your character gets thirsty and if you don't find water in 30 seconds you die. i reckomend another game to all you rpg fans youd have to be a really stubern jack @$$ to wan't to play this game.

Dark cloud is fine role playing game, simular in many aspects to Golden Sun and Zelda. The different culter atmosphere of the villages is exeptional. For example; the first town you encounter has a mexican atmosphere, while the second has a more primative, native feel. Also, the variety of different fairy-tale characteres was quite original, as you are encountering wizards from a medieval setting and a genie from an Arabian setting. The graphics are excellent and the game is altogether original and tasteful. Note however, that it is not rated T for teen for no reason, as there is bad langauge peppered here and there, not to mention some sugestive themes...

I was really excited when I first bought this game. Unfortunately, I was dissapointed. Don't get me wrong: the game starts out pretty well. You are Toan, a young man trying to restore his village (and many ohters) by fighting through dungeons and collecting atla, which contains pieces of the town/village that you are trying to rebuild. Unfortunately, after beating a few villages, I got bored of the somewhat repetative gameplay. All you do is basically fight monsters, collect atla, and rebuild villages. Now the rebuilding of the villages is the highlight of the game. It's fun, entertaining, and easy to learn. However, this is overshadowed by the boring dungeon parts. The only thing you do in the dungeon is attack, and run around dull environments. Occasionally you have to get past an obstacle by using a certain character. No climbing, jumping, (well, there is jumping, but all you do is press the X button and watch a cutscene of your character jumping.) or solving puzzles any deeper that "find the item to open the door". Dark cloud lacks the one thing that makes other action/RPG games so successful: variety. If only the action portions of the game were as good as the town building elements, then this game would have been worthy of a much higher score. However, there is enough to keep you entertained. You should give it a try, but I wouldn't reccomend buying it.

This game is good , but....

If you are a fan of the Zelda adventures of N64, Final Fantasy, and other RPG fantasy games this is the game for you. But...there is one draw back...Your character is always whining for something...(not literally mind you)...He always needs food or water to recharge his enegry meter or (and here comes the dosy)...His damn weapon breaks and you need to either locate a new weapon or fix it which requires money and your wallet starts out with not a single coin to spare. The only way you can get a coin or two is if you kill a dugeon beasty and if you keep busting your sword you will simply get noda. well...(take a breath)...if you don't mind that then this is a wonderfully cute little game.

Pros: cute graphics, nice story line
Cons: no cash no food, no cash no weapon repairs

Great game!

When I looked at this game in a gamer magazine i thought it would be just another rpg/actiion game that only has 30+ hours of gameplay(not a bad amount of time but I was expecting more for a Playstaion2 game for 50 dollars). When I started playing it I was amazed. I thought to myself that this game would be the like the Ocarina of time for N64 (since that was one of the most popular games for that system at the time). Anyway I'll talk about the gameplay. First of all, this game is half RPG and half Action/Adventure. To increase your health in this game you must find the Fruit of Eden which will increase your health by 10hp. Your weapon has hp also. Your main Character also has defense and a thirst meter which can be increased also. There are also attributes of magic that can be put into your weapon and attachments that help you conquer the enemys that you are fighting (Beast Breaker, Stone Breaker, Plant Breaker ect.) In dungeons, you can find parts of your area village that the Fairy king sealed up when the Dark Genie (The bad guy in this game) destroyed your village and you must find all the sealed parts to restore your world and make a better one. That pretty much covers it. Buy this game and enjoy it. :)
