Dark Cloud Rules the PS2...

Dark Cloud is one of the best games I have ever played. It is an rpg/adventure game with several different elements mixed in. (e.g. rebuilding the world, etc.) The gameplay is fun and easy to use and the weapons are cool too. A lot of people are saying that this game is a rip off of zelda and games of the like, and that may be true but this game combines all the elements of those games and adds it's own, and does it more successfully. This game is loads of fun and definetly worth the deniro considering there is like 50+ hours of gameplay. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. It's a keeper.

Okie so im a big Zelda fan and i agree this game kind of like Zelda image, BUt who cares!!!! I love it !! I love the fact that you can rebuild the villages and do whatever you want with them get creative. The interface is not too bad some of the controls you have to really get use to and if you put it down for a long time your going to have to relearn it which sucks.I do hate that the bosses get too hard and it takes alot of time to beat but its a challenge and I can't stand when a game is to easy to beat and lasts a couple days unless it has a good storyline and Im so siked for Dreamcloud two!!

It is well deserved of it's greatest hits title

The plot of this game is really weird but unfolds at the end quite nicely. The gameplay is just awesome. It is perfect and easy. Many characters when you get later in the game. Powering up your weapons is confusing and at first the game seems stupid and confusing, but you have to stay with it. Building your own town is fun and fishing is too. All of the levels look a like. The game is very addictive and the characters are cool. Very fun. Perfect action RPG. Boss fights are different and the last one is really hard. It took me 36 hours to beat.

When I first bought Dark Cloud, I thought hey this looks like a really cool game. At first when i started playin I'm like hey this is a sweet game. But then I found out some of the things you need to do to manage everything. For instance, you have to maintain a water supply because you have 3 little droplets at the top of your screen, and when it gets depleated, it starts to suck your health down. The one that I thought was ridiculous was u have to maintain the strength of your weapon, it has so many hits before it will break, so you have to have a constant suppley of a healer to bring the strength of the weapon back up. STUPID!! All and all though I pretty much like this game. Graphics are incredible and its the first actual RPG game that will take you some time to beat and not like some 7 hrs. game. The concept is pretty cool. You go around and collect these spere lookin things that contain item, people and housing from your village, and then you build up your villiage however you c fit.

This is horrible. I just bought the PS2 last week, i'm a big RPG/Action/adventure guy so i picked up 2 games like that. Dark cloud being one, and Onimusha being the other, not knowing anything but that they were new and in my genre.

Onimusha was amazing, awesome game.

But then... i put dark cloud in...

The first few scenes were pretty weird... a large pink fat thing with a military general looking guy in it's hand, then suddenly Link with a new hairdo and clothing came flying on a big walruscat thing. So i was like "hmm... weird.. but that's good, i think"

Well the game started up and i learned from the stupid comic directions about how to play and put the towns back together and how to go to the dungeon's and i began my quest.

At first I died atleast 10 times because i didn't realize that i was poisoned whenever a bat hit me, nor did i notice that i had water and i always had to stop and leave to repair my stupid weapons. Then when i went back the dungeons didn't even look the same, they always changed. I mean that'd be great if the dungeon was different for every level, or random that if i didn't save the game or if i left without doing a puzzle then Ya that'd be a great random, but this is just bad.. The fight scenes are boring, you basically have one combo of attacks and that's it, there's alot of useless items too. There's so many different variables to watch for yourself (health, thirst, weapon, gen, items, enemies, altamilla) that it takes away from your concentration... maybe that's how they tried to finagle a way to pass the constant repetitive gameplay. Over and over and over and over... GOD MAKE IT STOP. Every dungeon is the same, i read a review where someone said "THE DUNGEON IS ONLY 15 MINUTES LONG!" Ya 15 minutes until the next dungeon, then the next and the next after that. They try to vary it up by putting in "LIMITED ZONES" in but it's the same level, with limitations, nothing spectacular.

When the genorama came in i was kind of interested in that, i put a town back together and a little bit of a story line came out with it, but it wasn't really something to bank your money on with this one, it's the one and only good feature about this game.

If you want to buy a dark cloud please feel free to Email me, because jeez man i'm not keeping this game around. I'll focus my attention on onimusha and maybe invest in The Bouncer or Summoner.

It's looks like zelda but much more easier. The game is so easy, that I don't see any challenge in it- especially fighting the boss. It also have some bug that I began to notice- for example, the whole screen have black line of Toan (the main character) shadow being split. It looks horrible when that happened. luckily it doesn't occur alot, only a few time in the first dungeon you encounter (Divine beast cave). I suggest anyone who wants to buy it, wait till they fix the minor problem-It can be real annoying.

This game looked really interesting to me, so I bought it. It is interesting how the game is put together but the gameplay was not thought out enough. Here's pretty much the whole game. You go through dungeons which have tons of levels that look exactly the same, fighting crazy monsters and picking up the same old stuff. It gets old but is strangely addictive...sorta like pacman. Anyway that's not so bad...the bad part is that you constantly have to drink water, because for some reason our hero ... is a very thirsty person for some reason. On top of this inconvienience every time your sword makes contact with something its hitpoints go down. So not only are you always drinking water but now you have to use about 4 "repair powders" on your weapon for each level of the dungeon(usually about 15-25 levels). Your weapons sort of get upgraded as you do, and you are contantly absorbing very expensive objects into them. This is all well and good until you are in the middle of a fight, can't use a "repair powder" and poof the weapon freaking disappears along with all the investments. This gets old!!! Now I haven't been very nice to this game so far, and I should mention its good point. Building the cities is fun and like I said before the game is strangely addictive. Here's the game in a nutshell:

4. Repetition like you wouldn't believe
5. Wasting tons of exp. points on broken weapons
6. No story line
7. Rip off of Zelda plus Rip off of Sim City
8. Strangely enjoyable and addictive

I know Im not making sense by being so conflicted but you have to play it (RENT IT FIRST) to understand.

summary-

In all it is a good game, with alot of weapons to upgrade into or find. The main character has 4 ultimate weapons where the other 6 characters have one or two. The game is long and would cost more in rental fees to play it fully then to buy it... The story is good and the mini stories after and during the rebuliding the cities process is great. this is a fun game and worth your time and cash. The only flaws i personal have with the game is having to switch back and forth charaters to get thru a level(each character is has a unique skill they can do that the others can't that is need to get thru a spot in the dungen level, such as one character is needed to jump to move on.), it doesn't happen often but the game could do with out it. Things that would have been great would have been if there was voice acting, The main character just looks like he is trying to talk but nothing comes out.

Just go buy the game it is fun and it is worth it

I am getting sick of having to drink water every 5 minutes...having to repair the weapon is quite annoying too.. creatures are annoying to kill... when you die you have to explore the place again and the map changes!
