All-Star Baseball 2003 is one of the best baseball games I have
ever played. It has over 50 stadiums, all 30 teams, and an expanison mode to make your own team. Some of the catches are
messed up, but even so, it's a great game.
ASB has Home-Run Derby, Season play, Exhibition, and more. Plus, the faces look very real!
Take my advice and rent it first if you're not sure if you want
to buy it.
This game is the greatest baseball game I have ever

played in my life. The graphics are outstanding and what minor glitches there are in the game are completely overwhelmed by the positives that the game offers. All I can say about the franchise mode is WOW!!!

Great Graphics! Great Game modes and the best overall game I have played for baseball yet. Get this game if you are a big fan of baseball not if you are a big fan of arcade games.

All I have to say is that this game is awesome! I liked ASB 2002, but I did find it to be a little boring, and it lacked some features. It was however still better than it's compeditors in my opinion. This year though ASB 2003 is the total package. Comentators are fun, they included broken bats, annd the players faces are at times so realistic it's creepy. If you're looking for an arcade like game, I would pass on this, but if you are into a realistic baseball simulator this is a must buy.

There has never been a better baseball game than this! If you are wondering which of the 3 baseball games to get (ASB 2003, Triple Play, or High Heat), I would strongly recommend this one! First off, it is very realistic. There are broken bats, wild pitches, errors (unlike other games!), and great commentary. The difficulty is just right. Not to hard, but you can still win games. The different game modes will keep you playing for centuries! (well, maybe just years!) Now I have to go and play some more of my REDS season. Don't miss out on this year's game. See ya! Go REDS!
It's the best it's gonna get for PS2

I would give it five stars, but somethings in the game are very hard to overcome. Like if they knock a line drive on a down and away curve, and you think you can get them at 2nd, they throw to home when you press 2nd. But other things are very realistic, like warming up a reliver, or making a double switch. The franchise mode is much better than others, especially signing free agents. They just don't aggree to any offer you put on the table. You can also develop young tallent. The hitting is also great because while your winning on franchise, you can improve with hitting practice on moving your curser to the ball and hit it. I remember I was the dodgers in franchise mode, and Shawn Green hit a home run in the 10th inning to win and the next day when he came up to hit he said "Shawn Green came up huge yesterday, hitting a home run to win the game last night." It's really a 4 and a half, but like I said the few errors in it change it. Speaking of errors, if you make a great play and hurry a throw to the first baseman quickly after diving, be carefull, cause if their feet aren't set, chances of an error increase greatly. Also, have book telling how to play, cause when I rented it i had no book, and it was impossible to do half the stuff I can do now with a book. All in all, this game is the best it gonna get.
ASB 2003 falls short of a homrun.....

ASB 2003 is a good game but far from being great. It has too many glitches that even though you don't see them very often, can't be forgotten.
Once, i went after a ball that dropped between center field and left field. I got there with my center field player and was trying to get the ball but nothing happened, i mean the ball was there but the player just didn't pick it up, the runner meanwhile was rounding the bases, then suddenly the ball appeared in the glove of my right fielder. I swear it was the weirdest thing ever.
Anyways, the only thing i liked about this game beside the music on the menu page was the graphics. The players look great and they have several animations when they catch, throw or dive for the ball, sometimes the players will catch the ball barehanded, really cool. However, there are some things that take away realism on the field... no running throws, the over the shoulder catches looks good but they get too repetitive, the players seem to be like robots on the field while waiting the pitcher to throw the ball. They don't do anything just get set to wait for the ball and stay like that always. Even when the ball is in play, if you throw it to first to get the out after the first baseman catches the ball instead of perhaps throwing it to the pitcher and stand up normally he will get set. It happens with all the players.
The faces of the players look real just like their human counter part with some expections however. For instace, when i first saw chipper Jones i thought he took a beating somewhere.
One thing that really gets annoying is that the players don't throw the ball right away, especially when you get a ground out or when you throw it to the cut off man. They stay with the ball for a second or so before releasing it. Another thing is the baserunning, it drives you crazy because there are sometimes that clearly the baserunner is out yet the umpire calls him safe and viceversa.
The AL is ok, though sometimes too good as they will always rally to win the game. No matter by how much runs you are winning, at the end it seems that the computer will always find a way to beat you. The computer is quite easy to strike out and i'm talking in all star mode but don't expect to strike out much in the final innings. Also the bases are easy to steal since the computer never seem to be worried about the baserunners.
One great feauture was the ability to bat without using the hated cursor, for me at least. I just don't see the logic of using a cursor to hit the ball, it's not real and pretty much hard. You can bat without the cursor by activating the option "Easy batting" or something like that... I just wish the people of Acclaim would have worked a little bit more on this feauture since no matter where the ball is thrown you will always be able to hit it.
Overall, i don't think this game is bad, it's ok but as i said it's not certainly great. There are a lot of room for improvement. This game will be good for some people and pretty much bad for others. For myself, the game gets quite boring most of the time and the glitches of the game doesn't help either. I'm a fan of simulation sports not arcades, all the options this game has are great, but the gameplay makes this game far from being a truly simulation experience.
Hmmmmm does this require skill or good guessing?

ASB2003 starts off like a regular baseball game. You pick your team, start a season, and you're off. The first thing i noticed about this game, is the large amount of information before, during, and after a game. Graphicaly, this game is very good. Most of the graphics are very solid during gameplay. The game looks and feels great up to the point where your batter steps up to the plate. I often felt that i got lucky when hittting the ball. The pitches are way to fast, and your target cursor way to slow. I found myself guessing where the ball would be thrown. Ok, now that you get lucky and hit the ball, now what? Base running is pretty simple in this game. And fielding and pitching are very solid. If it weren't for the awful batting aspect, this game could have been great.
Good but far from perfect

OK--first of all hitting. The normal batting is insanely difficult, while the easy batting is just way too easy, resulting in easy victories even on the higher difficulty levels (my team is 37-5 right now). The stats are not perfect--the game counts errors if your player muffs a ball even if the runner does not advance a base. The game also doesn't fully understand the difference between earned and unearned runs and sacrifices and hits, but generally does an acceptable job. Stealing bases is simple b/c most of the time the game doesn't use the slide step. Also, sometimes the game will freeze up for no apparent reason and once my base runner disappeared, but his dot remained on the radar screen. These bugs are rare though.
However, this game is fairly fun--especially two player games. The expansion mode is a nice addition and the graphics and sound, while not perfect, are good. The anticipatory throws are a bit of a pain at first, but once you get them down they are alright.
So, while not perfect for a hardcore rules/stats junkie, the ASB does provide a good time especially if you are having some friends over to play.

Great Job Acclaim, keep up the good work. All Star Baseball 2003 is a great game that can only get better. I like all of the features, the graphics and the game play go hand in hand. I love the franchise mode. I took the Kansas City Royals and after finishing in 4th place I was amazed how little salary cap I had to keep my regulars, Wow how real is this game. I played some game where I blow out my opponent but there are some 2-1 games
I love creating an expansion city I would love it if they could allow the player to create their own city, I give this game 4 stars and will look forward to future impovements.
