OK but could be better

I rented this game one time just to check it out to see how it compared to other baseball games. I was very disapointed. The graphics were awesomes. I could tell the difference between A-rod and Ichiro. The game really messed up with the gameplay. It is almost impossible to hit the ball. Fielding isn't any better. It's really hard to get your guy under the ball. Another flaw was that the controls were really complicated and almost every time I pitched and the guy hit it, the fielder would always throw it home. One other problem I noticed was that the fielder after getting the ball usually waits about 3 seconds to throw after you tell him were to throw it. I recommend Triple Play for someone who wants more of an arcade type game but if you want a simulation game them this games for you.

I stand corrected...

Ok, ok, I know that the last time I wrote a review about ASB 2003 I was a bit harsh and cold, well, I played it some more and I must say that I definetly change my mind. I play this every night, EVERY night, regardless of any new game I get, ASB 2003 is my nightlight. The trouble (if you remember) I had before was the hitting, but one feature I had completely overlooked was the batting practice. Can you say "Aced it" boys and girls?.. sure you can. One of the things I love about ASB 2003 is that there can be drastic changes in the very end of the game, whether you're winning OR losing. Your heavy hitters can either "REPRESENT" or fail you miserably. It is with no doubt, like a real game you would watch on ESPN, etc. The commentary at times may get a little annoying, but thank goodness for "options" you can just shut them up, at times when you're a couple of runs behind, you really don't want anyone telling you that your next batter sucks by telling you their low batting average when it's 2 outs. It's very competetive when you play someone (a buddy) in the world series. I still give this game 4 stars, I guess it's missing something, I can't quite put my finger on it maybe if the outfielders would both go for the ball and collide, if there were a BIG celebration on the field after winning the World Series, managers or players argueing with the umpire or maybe even the batter REALLY getting nasty after almost getting hit with the pitch. Again, as usual, rent it first before you buy it... One thing I will say ASB 2003 will be my night light for a long time. Until next time, Subzter out.

Hitting?

The hitting interface in this game is awful. When the computer throws fastballs up in the corner or anywhere besides the target, then you can't hit it. What I do is wait for a pitch to come down the middle and swing the bat. I wish I could get my money back for this piece of trash. I mean, how fun is a game where you can't hit the ball??? Akklaim needs some help.

Most realistic game on the market without a doubt

Anyone who says this game is too hard or not realistic does not truly love the game of baseball. I have never owned a baseball game where after a couple of warm up games I couldn't beat the game ever time. And most of the time it was 20-0, etc. So far I have played probably 25 games of ASBB and I have lost 8 times. Most of the games are decided by 2 or 3 runs. Just like real life. My biggest complaint about sports games is that they make them too easy and therefore not realistic. Even if you create a whole lineup, they only start as an average player. You have to earn it. Hands down the best game I've played.

best game ever made

This Game Is The Bomb

I love this game. It is the most realistic game for PS2 that is a sports game. The gameplay is awesome, The Hitting is Hard at first but then it gets easier and easier and easier just like the other AllStar Baseball games were. This one makes it better b/c the computer can come back unlike other games were it's 200 to 2 in the 5th inning. The Franchise is The best ever, you can play up 2 20 seasons and sign your free agents and stuff and your created player is 20 yrs old when you start and always gets better. They make a few glitches like catches that shouldn't be but have you ever seen a perfect game were there no mistakes. I have never seen one of those. This game is the best Baseball game for PS2 i suggest you should buy the game!

This game is ALMOST perfect!

Pros:

Realistic commentary

Realistic stadiums

Realistic players

Realistic gameplay

Real mascots

Realistic stadium announcements

Realistic openings

Cons:

Crowd lacks detail

Most of the fans are wearing white shirts

Sometimes during an analysis (beginning of game), the analyzer and the stadium announcer are both talking and you can't understand a word they're saying

Analyst talks like this: (with feeling) Caught by (without) Bonds.

Fake advertisements. Justi? The Bay Area Fliers Report? Geez!

You can't use historical stadiums in a real game! Only home run derbies and batting practice!

You can't play as every team! Only one!

You can't make uneven trades!

You have a limited franchise term instead of a "retire" option!

Rookies retire after 1 year!

They only do the lineups and defence in the top of the first!

Horrible

this game stinks. the graphics are ok but sometimes the ball magically goes into the guys glove. fielding is too hard. games are long and annoying. great modes of play though. unless your a [person] who loves this series or loves having all these stats i recommend high heat 2003 or TP 2002

This game's gameplay is the worst i have ever seen they really need to work on the details like running thru people, the ball being bigger than the glove etc. but the graphics are awesome. i have played high heat 2002 and they need these graphics in that but that gameplay in this

The best Baseball Game yet
