Let's get some things straight. I have read all of the other reviews and have noticed how much people have been praising this game. My opinion is quite different.

Sure the game has some great features like the Franchise and Expansion modes. The Expansion mode is fun, but only if you're interested in a team of mostly no-names who you can't trade because nobody else wants them. The game's got all the updated lineups and the graphics are impressive. The players actually do look like the players in real life and it's complete with all the trademark batting stances, etc.

However, the game play is very lacking. Akklaim did a great job with how the game looks but now with how it plays. Take for example the first two games I've played in my season. A 9-7 win and a 13-4 loss. Roger Clemens is too tired to continue after four scoreless innings? Michael Tucker hits three triples and a double in one game? Chris Singleton hits three homeruns? These things just don't happen, nobody can deny that. It's just not realistic.

Batting is difficult. You have to slam down on the button to swing. Most of the time all the guy will do is check swing at the pitch. Fielding isn't any easier. The players move slow and awkwardly towards the ball and then don't throw it to the base you tell them too. Plus there is a delay between when you push the button to throw and when they actually do it. Stealing bases is impossible as the directions in the instruction book don't actually work.

The gameplay of this game is definately not 'All Star' caliber. It's more like a minor leaguer trying to tread water and not succeeding.

All Star Baseball 2003 is one of the most overrated baseball game I have ever played. It is almost impossible to hit the ball. And when your in the field and A batter hits a fly ball the camera trys to look real by moving in slowly and if its a line drive it will go past you. On rookie mode the ball comes in so fast its almost impossible to hit the ball. To many strikeouts and too little game play. In the instruction manual it tells you nothing.

ASB03 was the worst baseball game I have ever played. The graphics were alright but the gameplay was horrific. It was almost impossible to hit the ball. This game was so overrated and I think the person who made this game should be fired an thrown out on the street.

This game's gameplay is the worst i have ever seen they really need to work on the details like running thru people, the ball being bigger than the glove etc. but the graphics are awesome. i have played high heat 2002 and they need these graphics in that but that gameplay in this

Horrible

this game stinks. the graphics are ok but sometimes the ball magically goes into the guys glove. fielding is too hard. games are long and annoying. great modes of play though. unless your a [person] who loves this series or loves having all these stats i recommend high heat 2003 or TP 2002

I am writing this review so that someone won't make the same mistake I made. The graphics are good however the gameplay is flat out horrible. One time I was batting and the other pitcher had just thrown me strike two. Then the count was erased and the same player came up to the plate and the at-bat started over again. Another time there was one out and after I threw to first base for the second out, the inning ended. These glitches make the game completely unrealistic and not fun to play.

Also you are unable to bunt if the pitcher is already in his windup. You must show that you are going to bunt before he throws the ball which doesn't allow you to bunt for a hit. Another glitch is that when fielding the players don't throw the ball as soon as you hit the button. It takes the fielders a couple of seconds to set and then throw the ball. It feels like your not controling the players if they don't throw when you hit the button. Running the bases is also a problem. If you hit the ball to the gap or down the line and you want to go to second base, you can't. Each time the runner rounds first base, goes back to first, and then runs to second. By that time the ball is usually there and you'll be out. Also sometimes the runner just keeps running even though you didn't tell him to. I have been thrown out at the plate many times because the base runner on my team continued to run even though I didn't tell him to. If you like the game of baseball don't get this game because it is a disgrace to the sport. It seems as though Acclaim despirately needed to get this game out for the beginning of the 2002 basbeall season and therefore rushed it a little bit. They didn't take the time to work all the kinks out and as a result the quality of the game suffered.

BAD GAME!

THIS GAME HAS GREAT GRAPHICS AND THE GAME MODES ARE AWSOME,BUT YOU CANT SCORE RUNS.BASE HITS ARE EASY BUT EXTRA BASE HITS ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET,IF U COMBINED THE OPTIONS OF THIS GAME AND THE GAME PLAY OF HIGH HEAT,YOU WOULD HAVE A GREAT GAME.WAIT TO SEE WHAT MLB IS LIKE THIS YEAR BEFORE YOU BY A BASEBALL GAME.

Other Baseball games must be better.

If you are thinking about buying this game, I recommend that you rent it first. I rented this game, played it for about 5 hours, and returned it 3 days before it was due back at the store. I would not buy this game ... The design and gameplay is very unintuitive and just plain boring. I would tell the developers of this game to go back to the drawing board.

In short, do not buy this game!

This was one of the worst baseball games i have ever played. Granted i was very impressed with the features and the graphics, but the gameplay is just awful. When is Acclaim and 3DO going to learn from one another. If you put ASB03' graphics and features with High Heat's game play you would have the greatest baseball game ever!

THE MOST BORING BASEBALL GAME EVER
