This game surpasses any other psx action game. I bought 4 other games at the same time they have not even been opened yet. This game is representative of the quality that we as consumers should be expecting. Graphics, animation, sound and AI all combined to create a truly great gaming experience.

The first time I played this game I was pulled into it and I actually thought that I was in the game as Jimmy Patterson. Foot steps are heard without knowing where they are coming from, gunshot echoes flutter through the air, and the music is great. I waited a long time to get Medal of Honor, but I didn't have enough money to get it. Since my birthday was coming up soon, I just waited until then. When I got the money to buy it, my mother took me to the the mall. We had to make a couple of stops on the way back home which I didn't like because I just wanted to get home to play it. When we arrived, I ran right to my room and popped in the game. The introduction was pretty nice. I selected "new game" and read what Manon,(the fine woman) had to say on what to do in my first mission. As I began to play the game, I was amazed at the format, the music, the graphics, the sound effects, and the A.I. As I progressed, the game got better and better and more and more intense. My heart pounded at the turn of every hallway and at the shot of every German. I very highly recommend this game for every gamer in the world.

The movie-like set designs, lighting and music score are so well done and are far beyond anything I would have expected in a video game. Definitely a keeper.

Dreamworks (who produced Saving Private Ryan) have brought us something I thought the PlayStation might never have-an awesome First Person Shooter. In it, you play James Patterson, a WWII recruit for the Office of Strategic Services. Your mission (actually 24 in all)-defeat the Germans! Everything in this game reeks of atmosphere and realism. From the authentic weapons to the various German soldiers (who of course, speak German), Dreamworks went all out. Each mission is unique, some are stealth missions where you assume the identity of a German officer while others involve locating downed pilots or blowing up key German installations. The enemy AI is top-notch as well. Soldiers will set off the alarms, yell for help or hide behind obstacles to avoid you. Lob a grenade at one and he might just pick it up and throw it back at you! The controls are also well done. With the dual analog controller you can target, look, activate and fire with ease. I have to give a slight negative to the graphics. They are a bit pixilated, but this doesn't distract from the game at all. You can tell who the enemy is and see them react to getting hit in various body locations (hit them in the shoulder, they grab their shoulder...hit them in the head-good night Adolf! ) It's been a long time since I played a game so absorbing as Medal of Honor, and the first time on the PlayStation. If you are a WWII Buff, a First-person Shooter Fan, or someone that wants a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat buy it now!

The Best PSX Shooter (First Person)

Well, you have got Doom and Final Doom, but those games don't even come close to the standards of Medal of Honor. This is without a doubt the best first person shooter on the PSX. Now I will admit that it isn't as good of a game as Final Fantasy VIII or RE3, but you are looking for a First person shooter and neither of those games fall into that catogory.

The best AI (artificial intelligence) I've seen

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 5 / 5

Hello...I have to say it [Medal of Honor] is one of the best1st-person games I've seen. What blew me away was the AI (artificialintelligence) used in the game to make the Nazis move and attack.

Here are some things that were really neat: - The Nazis will not just run wildly around the place. They actually hide and approach you from behind at times. - If you wound them, they will crawl out of your sight to recover and shoot you again when ready. - They will pick up your hand granades and throw/kick them back to you! - In order to successfully shoot a bazooka, you need to fire at some distance because you can die from the shock wave of the explosion or just miss if the target is really close. I charged a bazooka Nazi and he just turned and ran away from me so he could have enough distance to aim and shoot me! But, when he had no where else to run (there was a dead end), he would turn towards me and START BEATING ME WITH HIS BAZOOKA!

Other neat features: - When you shoot a Nazi, most of the times they will drop their weapons, but there are times that the gun goes off at the moment of hitting the ground! - Graphics are superb, but you can see maybe 1 or 2 poligon glitches at times (you can actually see through the walls). - Weapons, costumes and the story are all very real and it looks that the programmers did a great deal of historic research for the game.

Now, the only thing that kind of disappointed me was the very end. I thought I would get a medal and finally meet the French she-agent (that seems to grow fond of you as the game continues) and the General who sends you to every mission. There was no medal (well, only a litle note on the screen saying you were awarded a medal), no meeting the French girl nor the General.

Because of the ending and the small poligon glitches, I would give it 4 stars, but because of the AI used on the game, they get my 5 stars! END

Ladies and Gentlemen..you now have a first person shooter for the Playstation that rivals Goldeneye. This game is possibly one of, if not the, finest playstation titles released. I'll keep this short. The game's presentation, from the full-video mission introductions, to the detail of the mission objectives, it's just incredible. The graphics are flawless, interactive enviroments that look just georgous. Enemy AI reacts swiftly and appropriately to your presence, and they react to being shot EXACTLY as they would in real life. Shoot them in the arm, and they wither in pain clutching their arm. Shoot them dead in the chest with a powerfull sniper rifle at medium range, they fly back five feet and collapse in a heep. Tons of missions, tons of replay value, and the SOUND!Classical Orchestra compostions time with the action on screen, adding incredible impact to the game, everything from your footsteps, to Gestapo's shouting german swears at your presense, to hearing german patrols murmer cursings from just around the corner. This is simple perfection.

I played this game at my friends house and I didn't want to stop. One of the best features is that the Nazi's don't just run at you with a death wish. If they see you they duck and run to places to hide. If you throw a grenade they don't just sit there they either kick it away or pick it up and throw it back. The only bad thing is the graphics are blocky and get a little worse up close. If you read this I reccomend you buy this game.

psx best first person shooter and one of the best on the psx

On a visual standard Medal of Honor looks great. MOH features excellent looking explosions, beautifully designed levels, and great detail on the bodies. The overall look of MOH is breathtaking, you'd think with that much action on one screen you would experience slowdown, but that isn't the case in Medal of Honor. I've been playing the game non-stop and haven't noticed a touch of slowdown. Overall crisp visuals, great looking explosions and flawless frame rate, make MOH of the most enjoyable game too look at.

The game's main stand is it's unbelievable gameplay. Playing this game almost makes you feel like you are literally in the war. It's main idea is to re-live WWII all over again, you are a US Soldier who is the best in his class who was hired by an agency and is out to carry missions. On your missions you will encounter German Nazis that need a little lesson, teach them one and keep going. Every stage has at least 3 or more missions to be completed and on some you will need to use your noodle a little. Since this title's main focus is the realism, EA has decided to include an array of weapons. Everything from a regular handgun to a shotgun and even to a rocket launcher. Besides having tons of weapons to choose from you also can take control over an enemy's machine gun. You may notice these powerful machine guns in almost every stage implanted into the ground. You can take over them by pressing Square and shot the enemies.

Now that we have got the weapons out of our hands, I can now talk about tactics. First of I want to mention that the Artificial Intelience is incredibly smart, so you won't be dealing with idiots that don't even run away from grenades. No way, if you throw a grenade at the enemy he will either pick it up and throw it back at you or he will kick it away. In terms of gameplay this game can truly be compared to GoldenEye. It's AI is far more intelligent than that found in GoldenEye, MOH features a more extensive line of weapons than GoldenEye and the game (MOH) has a better balance. Medal of Honor actually features a good story line, and the cameras aren't bouncy. There is more to be said, but in the end Medal of Honor leaves Nintendo's GoldenEye in the dust.

Here comes the greatest aspect, it's revolutionary sound. Playing Medal of Honor will definitely make you feel like you are in a movie theater watching some action flick, say something like Star Wars EP1. The game's sound effects are truly mesmerizing, every shatter, every footstep, every gun shot can be heard, and the clarity is to die for. If you have a big screen TV, and a powerful stereo system make sure to hook both up and play Medal of Honor, because I swear to you if you pump up the volume you WILL be experiencing World War 2. And last but not least the game also features dialogue during in and out of the mission.

On the control side the game, it isn't really disappointing but control takes time to get used to. This is a 1st person shooter and their are controls to be learned. The top shoulder buttons (L1, R1) are for moving sideways, L2 is to crawl, R2 is to aim, L3 is to center view, X is to shoot, Square is to open up doors or take over machine guns, Triangle is to Jump, and O is to switch weapons. The lay out may sound easy but it takes some time to get used to.

In conclusion Medal of Honor is one of Playstation's best titles out there to date, and it is very well the best 1st person on the market. Mixing, the story of Saving Private Ryan, and the action of GoldenEye, Medal of Honor is truly one of the years best games ever. Even if you are not a fan of 1st person shooters, I still highly suggest buying Medal of Honor.

This is hands down one of the greatest games on the PSX ever. It closest rival is, like many have said Goldeneye. While it may suffer from some less than crystal clear graphics, I think the enemy AI more than makes up for it. And this isn't computer AI were you shoot left and automatically the computer moves right, these are human AI actions. It makes mistakes, it moves like a human it acts like a human. If an enemy sees you taking aim at him, he does not stand and take a shot in the head, he immediately rolls, ducks behind something and calls for help. Don't be too sure that your gernade isn't coming back at you. Throw it at an enemy that is watching and you might have it back in your lap shortly. Even the German dogs are intelligent. Throw a gernade at them and they will pick it up and run towards you. Very real and to a point historically correct. The missions may not be real, but the submarines, forts, railguns, enemies uniforms, weapons, weapons's accuracy and range are all very real. Great job and a great game. Plus, deathmatch, how can you go wrong?
