It was the best racing game And most realistic and it remains that way even at this point. Realistic cars from real car companies and challenging tasks means a few months of playing to master it. You must complete license tests in order to move on to more expensive races (which can be hard as heck) but you get hooked on competition, amping up all the cars you'll win and the many moons you'll spend racing you favorite cars.
not bad

This was a pretty good game. The graphics are almost real and the sound track is good. There are tons of cars (some of them are too expensive)You will go through each league doing different races with different cars. You will win money for winning a race, and the courses are interesting. Now for some of the bad things. The game can get boring after a while. Races can be way to hard. Licences get annoying. Somtimes you need to do the race over and over to get money for a good car. The beggining is easy (i'm at the end of the beginner league). Also you might need to soup up your car a lot to compeat with the others. You should buy this game if you want a hard game to play.

This game has alright graphics but awful controlls. I don't like those but I like how u can upgrade parts on the car. GT4 should have no limits.

This is a five star racing game, I gave it 4 simply because racing games are not my style. All racing games are generally the same thing (its a race after all) so you just need to buy the one best one, which is this game.
The graphics are amazing, photo-realistic, basically better than most other games I have seen. This game has the largest selection of cars, tune up options, race tracks, and options to choose from. No other racing games comes close. Plus this game is [less money]now, so it is definalty a must buy.
Wonderful graphics, yet hard and NOT a "crash-&-burn" game!!

"Grand Turismo: 3" (GT3) has the BEST graphics of ANY racing game in the world, and has the coolest cars since "Supercar Street Challenge"!! :) However, GT3 may get on your nerves sometimes when racing in a season, because of the large chances of spinning-out and the hard-to-oppose AI difficulties...Also, if you're into "crash-&-burn" racing games like the "Burnout" series for PS2, then this game wouldn't be for you.
However, GT3 is STILL the coolest racing [and non-Burnout type] PS2 games I've EVER played!...
Gran Turismo 3 is a must own for any PS2 owner!

This is by far the most realistic and complete driving simulator to date. I call it a driving simulator because it's just that - it's more of a simulator than a game really... as the cars are very realistic, and the control, accelleration, braking, etc. on all of them is completely true to life. The programmers of this game over at Polyphony Digital are said to be some of the best physics programmers in the world, and when you play this game for the first time you'll believe it.
The game features hudreds of licenced cars that actually exist in real life. These range from $16K Honda Civics all the way up to multi million dollar LeMans cars. You start out with $20K in your bank and are able to purchase one of only a few cars, and you then are able to work your way up the automotive food chain by winning money in races and race series. With the money you win you can upgrade existing cars, and buy new cars.
The game is great, if you're wanting a quick race before you leave for work, or an entire day to kill on building up your garage and your bank. I bought a PS2 strictly for this game, and wasn't disappointed. The first time I laid eyes on this game I was stunned, that's how good it looks. It's something you have to see to believe. You can check out pics of the still pictures on the internet and be amazed, but the truly amazing show of graphics can only be seen when whitnessing the game in real life. The fact that this game is now only $19.99 because of the "Greatest Hits" campaign is amazing.
If your TV has component inputs, I STRONGLY suggest picking up a SONY component video cable for your PS2 if buying this game. Component video will make it look 100 times better than normal composite video or SVideo. It's not really a requirement, but it ads to the extreme level of realism you'll encounter when playing this game.
Anyone who owns a PS2 and doesn't own this game should really have their head checked. :)
GT3 packs awesome collection of cars

A very fun game that becomes frustrating as you progress to the professional level. Still a 4-star rating for graphics and the selection of cars available to buy and race.
The first game that should be purchased for car enthusiasts!

I have to give props to Sony and PolyPhony for designing this game. This is a game that probably took 24 months to design, and you can tell, hard work and sweat was put into this DVD disc. This game is so realistic, it is the next best thing to actually buying and driving a car.
If you play this game, you will be blown away. Even though this game is more than a year old, it is still fun to play. The graphics are incredible. It is over a year old, and newer games that are released recently such as Sega GT 2002, Burnout, and Project Gotham Racing are newer, but they don't even drive in the same league. Gran Turismo 3 is about absolute freedom to do what ever you want with you car. You start out with $18,000 to buy any car you can afford. You see that you cannot afford the "big dog" cars like Lexus, BMW, Cadillacs and others, so you have to buy other cars. Some choices are PT Cruisers, Volkswagon Beetles, Mazda Miatas (excellent choice). You buy a car, you can put things on it such as light-weight bodies on it, which make the car lighter, and easier to turn around sharp curves. You can buy special tires to go over every type of terrain, you can buy more effective brakes, turbos to make the top speed faster, new hubcaps to make it worth more, new engines to make the car more powerful, and to raise the horsepower and more. You can customize the color of your car. The more competitions you win, the more money you make, and the better cars you can buy. Even if the car isn't a luxury car, it will still win races. A one of the best cars we have is a Ford Mustang, with a top speed of 187 mph, 400 little horsies under the hood, 2 stages of light weight bodies to help turning. The farther you progress, the more cars you can buy. You can learn about cars too. They give you tons of information, including top speeds, horsepower, size, weight, wheel size, transmissions, and more.
Just to keep it simple, you need to buy this game now! You have no excuse not to buy it, because it was declared a Greatest Hit, and it isn't that expensive anymore. This game can be purchased without putting a dent into your wallet.
Best racing game ever!

This has to honestly be one of the best racing games I have ever played on the PS2. The graphics are spectacular and the game play is so realistic. The amount of cars and the variety of the cars is incredible. This has to be one of the most realistic games that I have ever played on any gaming system. Overall I think this is a must have for the PS2, and now that it is [this price] how could you go wrong. Buy It!!!
Best Ever

Gran Turismo 3 is by far the best game on any console. The graphics are so good, it almost looks like real cars on T.V. The car physics are stunning as well. The dirt courses are amazing also. The game is easy to pick up and so are the controles. The races eventually get very hard so be prepared. This is a must have game.
