This game will keep you busy for a long, long time. The graphics are amazing, engine sound is great, and gameplay itself is excelent. Pholyphony has done a really good job on this title, so you won't be dissapointed.

Unbeleivable graphics, incredible attention to detail, tons of cars, tracks, & modes, best driving physics ever, wonderful soundtrack, extremely comprehensive. Truly amazing game, wish I had more time to spend on it.

However, there is no such thing as the perfect driving game yet. This game comes the closest, but a few things can be improved. Although the driving physiscs are great, they become urealistic as soon as cars make contact with one another. There is no damage simulated, and the cars have no dashboard views. licensing issues have made for some of the most popular cars (Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini) to be missing. Also, some of the brands they carry are missing their most popular models (BMW "M" series, and the most tuned import car in America, the Honda Prelude). The AI is somewhat dumb, but that's always the case in any racing game.

But these issues are minor compared to all the good things in this game.

Simply Awesome!

Well the long awaited game is here, and it does not dissapoint. The graphics are so stunning in this game that people kept walking into the room and asking "what show" we were watching. The use of light and the fine detail of the backgrounds and reflective light is something you have to see to really undersand it.

The physics of the game are improved over GT2, the cars react more realistically to game pad inputs. The shoulders of the track are more unforgiving than in GT2, you can no longer cut corners and go "off-road" and get away with it. Overall, the opponents drive better than it GT2. The licensing is at least as difficult as GT2 with some new challenges like wet track.

My only complaint is that there are actually less cars in this game than in GT2, and again no Ferrari or Porsche. All of the used Japanese cars are now gone as well.

This is really a must have game, and will provide untold hours of game play. It is worth buying PS2 just for this game.

I hardly ever write reviews for items on Amazon, but this game is well worth the exception. I don't like racing games at all, but I just fell in love with this game. I'm only a tiny bit into it and am having loads of fun tuning cars and screaming through these realistic environments. So far I've got a Lexus IS and a VW New Beetle along with several bonus cars. I don't really know anything about cars, but the game makes it so easy while keeping a high level of realism in the tune up process.

The graphics are incredible and the replay movies are easily mistaken for an auto race on TV. If you own a PS2 you must purchase this game, it's well worth the price.

The Best Racing Game of the Future.

The game is awesome. There are Porsches in the game as well as a Lambourghini. I'm not dissing the game, but I would like to see some additions to the game. Being able to have a custom paint job, or putting body accessories would be cool. Another addition would be another type of racing. There is light-weight racing, F-1, and rally on this game. I think putting a street racing type of race would be awesome. The Tokyo tracks are not enough to give this experience. I'll be looking forward to an awesome sequel.

The best of the best has finally arrived....

I decided to put my two cents worth after finding out that there were already over a hundred reviews. I have been a follower of the Gran Turismo series, and by far, this version is the best yet. I was already highly impressed with the original and the sequel to that, but initially, after viewing the demo at an auto show, I wasn't too impressed with it. I actually thought the Dreamcast was better. How mistaken I was...after getting my hands on the game and firing it up on the PS2, the opening credits looked liked the same ones on the original GT and GT2. One look at the cars and the tracks and I knew I had made a bad judgment based on the original demo. It basically boils down to this...THIS GAME ROCKS! The replays are probably the most impressive and the most stunning aspects of the game. Capturing the replays were even more impressive...at first glance, you would mistaken the clip as being real. If you have a PlayStation 2 or are planning to get it sometime soon, this has got to be the first (if not, next) game to purchase for the system. It's a glimpse into the raw power that the PS2 system offers.

Very cool video game. Gran Turismo 3 can satisfied all the players. The graphisms are beautiful but the number of cars is reduce than Gran Turismo 2(600 cars!!!)

First of All--THIS IS NOT AN ARCADE GAME! Although there is a selection for arcade mode, and it is enjoyable to challenge a buddy to a quick race, the real meat and potato-portion of this game comes in the "career" mode. This game will take a VERY LONG time, albeit an incredibly enjoyable and satisfying time, to get everything out of it. Don't buy this game if you're looking to fly around tracks, power-sliding into turns and generally acting like the "evil" incarnation of Kinevil. It takes some time, but it is very much worth the effort.

A new level of computer driving simulation

I just got a PlayStation2 after waiting 9 months, and I got the bundle that included GT3. I'm not usually a driving game person, but after a lap on the first arcade track, I knew I was hooked. First, the graphics on this are absolutely incredible. I mean, we're talking near-TV quality in most places. Also, the sounds and music are very well produced, slick, and integrated into the game. That's important, because there's nothing worse than an okay driving game that plays the same cheesy song over and over so you don't want to play. But most of all, control on the car is both realistic and forgiving. It's easy enough to play that you don't have to be a video game addict to get around the loop and keep up with the pack. But, it's realistic - it adheres to the rules of physics, and the book even has this whole chapter on Skip Barber theory of racing that's as real as what you'd get if you took an actual class. What blew me away about this game are the playback modes. After you race, you can watch your race again, but change all of the view options. If you synch the race to music, it will direct a music video-like pass through the race, cutting through camera angles and effects and producing something that's pretty much like watching a Nissan commercial on TV. It is incredible! If even five years ago, someone told me video games would look like this, I would have called them a liar! The only thing I don't like about the game is I haven't found a way to cheat yet, so I can get to the good cars in simulation mode. And I need to rush out and buy a steering wheel and a bigger TV and I'll save the ten grand on buying my own sports car. This game is a must have!
