This game is like life itself

Out of all the car racing games I ever played, this one seems to be the closest to reality and giving the best driver experience. Everything seems to work well, but I would point especially at the sharp and hyper-realistic level of graphics and the music (famous tunes that you will greatly enjoy together with your fast realistic racing car and the excellent scenery of the racing tracks). I highly recommend this game to both advanced gamers and beginners- it's, without any exageration, one of the finest video-games ever created.

I'm going to get fired.

My brain hurts. I got my copy of GT3 for the PS2 today. If you are into racing games...well, it rules. I have purposely kept myself away from the reviews and screenshots and such. Watching the intro I found myself faint of breath when realizing that it was the game engine rendering the scenes. :) The physics model kicks ass of course. There are seemingly less cars (and less non performance cars) than in GT2. But that is fine with me. In RL I like the whole budget fast car thing (I drive a turbo neon) but for the game I want that Viper GTS-R, or some insane skyline, not some 88 civic hatchback. :) Now my biggest challenge will be making it into work on a regular basis.

This is a fantastic game. I had played the previous versions a few times, but only in Arcade mode. I never really got into completing the different levels in the Simulation mode. It's hard at first, but after you get into it, it is so much fun. I highly recommend this game. That graphics are fantastic, and it's a lot of fun to play.

Graphics are great. Sound is great. Selection of cars, customizability is great. My ONLY issue is that some of the tracks are very dimly lighted, which, while adding to the challenge, can also be annoying.

great game

I think that this game is a very good game. It takes lots of time to complete. At first when I got the game I was very upset because there are no used cars. The only option I had was to get one of about eight slow cars that you can afford at first. In the second Gran Turismo, you have better and faster cars to choose from when they're used. This game also needs a steering wheel for better gaming experience. Overall, I like the graphics, but I wish there were more cars to choose from. If only they made expansion packs to add more races and cars...

As real as it gets

Without a doubt, Gran Tourismo 3 is the most realistic racing game available for a gaming console to date. While the previous GT games were suberb, this latest installment simply blows both out of the water (or should I say off the track).

There is much more to GT3 than simply holding down the accelerator. Instead, proper breaking, acceleration, and steering techniques are required to truely become competitive, and even a small error in judgement can send a driver spinning of the track in a cloud of dust as a stream of cars flies by.

Even more impressive than the actual racing is the tuning. In simulation mode, cars can be purchased and tuned. This allows the driver to build the most competive car possible. Furthermore, tuning allows a driver to adjust a car according to the characteristics of each individual track. However, the real beauty of tuning becomes apparent when drivers realize that they can adjust their cars to fit their inividual driving styles.

Impressive is too weak of a word to describe Gran Tourismo 3, and I would highly recomend this game to anyone interested in a challenging racing experience.

This happens to be the very first game i tried on ps2 and was blown away by it. the graphics alone make you wonder how long it took to develop this one. the variations in race cars and even regular cars is amazing. the driving response is so lifelike unlike some other racing games. at this reduced, insane price, get this game!! it has come a long way from the olden days of atari 2600's night driver!

The PS2 Killer App.

For every computer system, there is, hopefully, the Killer App. It's the must-have application that makes the system worth having.

For PS2, it's "Gran Turismo 3" (For the X-Box, it's "Halo.") I've played lots of driving games over the years, on lots of different platforms. Road racing, F-1, rally.

To date, I still feel that Gran Turismo 3 provides the best racing experience and realism. The subtle feel changes you can sense with the weight shifting in the vehicle. The differences bewteen front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive cars. And the way your driving style has to adjust from low powered little cars, up to sports, high-performance, GTO and GTP cars. It's THE reason that I bought a PS2 instead of an X-Box after my PS1 was stolen.

The only shortcoming in my opinion is the behavior of the AI cars. The most you ever see is a 6 car field (including yourself), and the stack of 5 competitors isn't always balanced.

Oh, and I miss being able to modify your cars into the racing paint schemes that you could get in GT2.

But the Rally in GT3 is awesome.

I just wish the GT3 guys would use their talent to write some other racing games, like a full blown true F-1 game with GT3 level realism, or WRC Rally.

Best Racing Game Ever No Doubt!!

To start I wanna give you some advice... don't pay attention to the reviews that were written before 7/10/01, this was the release date and anyone who wrote a review before this time didn't play the game.

Now to the game... very fun!! This is without a doubt the best racing game ever, the graphics are incredible and theres a lot of things to do. Theres over 100 cars a tons of races in simulation mode. It'll take a long time for some to play through this game. Theres just so many things to do like supe up cars and buy new ones and of course race that itsdefinatly going to take months to finish this great game.

The gameplay is very much like the first 2.. people say that the system is outdated and its time for a change... my question is, Why mess with perfection?

Something to add about the Porsche and Ferrari cars.. or lack of that is. EA has the liscense for Porsche cars and didn't allow Sony to use the Porsches. The Ferraris? i don't know why they didn't get the cars but they didn't. But going back to the Porsche, go to the car dealership RUF... sure they aren't Porsches but they look and handle like them.

I'll admit it - I'm not a huge racing fan but after all the previews and kudos given to this game, I was forced to buy this stellar game. Having not played the previous two titles, this was my first and let me tell you - this game is truly awesome. I couldn't stop playing (well I did stop sometimes such as to write this review)and as of now, I am 80% done and I have had this game for almost a month already - proof that you cannot beat this game in a day! Coupled with the GT Force Feedback Wheel, and you've got yourself a real driving simulator - but I don't have it as yet though, but I've heard good news about its compatibility. Anyway, you must get this game now if you're a racing fan or not(like me).
