This game is the best game on my n64 next to nightmare creatures, this game feels like final fantasy, with Kingdom hearts it was the best selling game on the n64. If you still have one you should pick this one up.
Too much thinking for a video game.

This version of Zelda doesn't quite have the original feel of the "Link to the Past" game available on the Super NES. This game involves too much thinking, I look for games that are easy to pick up and are fast paced, like 007 or Perfect Dark for example. The bottom line is that this game is good for those of you who are in the mood to think and have patience.

Having played without a rumble pack. I was still able to finish this game in a relative short time frame (compared to past Zelda advenures). While the graphics were fantastic the fairy was too much of an aide in helping to destroy enimies and in finding clue.

Seriously, this ranks up with some of the worst games I have ever played. It is a complete insult to anyone who respects the RPG genre as this is nothing more than a linear, cutesy, puzzle game. You run around playing a little harmonica by pressing certain buttons in certain orders and the rest of the time you are moving boxes around, jumping from platform to platform, and killing enemies (with an awful targeting system) that respawn as soon as you leave the room.
I can guarantee that about 95% of all the 4 and 5 star votes are coming from children under the age of 15 as this is the type of game that would appeal to them. But if you are an older, more experienced gamer do yourself a favor and steer clear from this hideous example of a good title gone bad.
If you'll excuse me I am going to balance out my wobbly kitcken table with the cartridge.

A message to all zelda 64 fans, get a life. I am not being mean or exagerating, I like Links Awakening a lot, I like the music and sound in Zelda 64, but honnestly I think the graphics are just par, deffinetly not amazing, but I have never played a game with worse play control, I mean cmon how about just one button to simply jump instead of 4 is that really to much to ask? Is it? What about replay value? Does this game even have replay value? This is also a very easy game. Hey zelda 64 nuts, anyone who thinks this is better that Donkey Kong 64 sghould be locked up in a mental house cause there not sane.
a little overrated

i'm not sure what everyone sees in this game. the graphic, while good, aren't as great as you might think. of course, i'm used to playing games on my PC, which can have some of the best graphics of any gaming system(yes it's as good as and sometimes better than dreamcast, especially with a GeForce 256 accelerator, which is 256 bits). the controls weren't very good, considering the camera flips around wildly and the slightest touch will make your character spin around. the z-targeting feature also doesn't work very well against multiple targets because when you target and attack one target the other one is free to beat the heck out of you. of course, if you don't use it, you may find it tricky just to face what your attacking. the music gets very annoying, as it is in midi format. npc interaction gets dull, since most characters just tell you how to play the game. the text scrolls out extremely slowly, and of course, you can't skip any of it. when not telling you how to play the game( which i believe the manual is for) they tell you about pointless things you don't care about, and aren't relevant to the game. they also speak in an annoying kiddie drivel( favorite lin-"you can't be a real man without a fairy!"). the plot is just another "save the world" cliche, and isn't very involving. i also don't see how this game can be considered an RPG. the only things that this has in common with a roleplaying game is the inventory system, npc interaction, and a few pointless side-quests. there are no statistics and skills you can adjust, no races or classes you can chose from. the combat iis basically you randomly swinging your tiny sword. you can't get better in any skill, and you can't form parties. it's basically an adventure game, and not a very good one. it's not really for anyone over 5 or 6. or maybe ive been away from console systems too long to come back. anyways, this has been a review from a REAL gamer. now i have to go play Everquest, a REAL RPG.
All hype

Lets get real here. The game sucks pure and simple. It isn't an adventure or RPG but a boring, frustrating puzzle game. Being an experienced gamer for many years I can honestly say this is one of the WORST investments I have ever made in a game. I have no idea where all the hype comes for this game as it has absolutely NO replay value whatsoever, yet everyone gives it perfect scores.
But of course you wont listen and you'll go buy the game and you'll be just as ticked off as I am. Then you'll think to yourself "Man I even marked that guys review as not helpful".
So go ahead, mark a NO for your vote and then regret it later!

This is the installment with which started the hideous trend of decay in the Legend of Zelda series. The number of good games to which the Zelda label applies, currently totals 4 (I'm talking about the first four, natch). The others are pure [crud], and I blame OOT for starting it all. It and Majora's Mask are guilty of the first cardinal sin of Zelda: setting it in a 3-D environment. It does NOT belong there! (As for the "Oracle" series, it's guilty of the first cardinal sin of RPGs: don't ever let Capcom create an RPG. But that's another story.)
Really, I ask the world, what in the name of all that is holy was Miyamoto thinking when he conceived the idea of a 3-D Zelda game??

If anyone knows how to escape from the giant magic tree, please god contact me. Ive been stuck there for 6 years and its causing sleep loss, dperession etc. Anyways, i dont like this game very much, although probably becauase ive lost many friends due to the thousands of hours ive commited to its luminous glow and wind boggling theme tune. Overall, its a bit wick.
(by the way, is there a cheat to make link naked, my mate said he did it)
