The Greatest Kart Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Mario Kart is one of those games that is fun no matter how many people you've got to play it. Starting out as an avid Nintendo fan, I found Mario Kart to hold up extremely well under Nintendo's fun factor scrutiny.
In fact, I would rate this game five out of five in every category that it could be in. While the graphics for the Nintendo 64 aren't as great as those for the gamecube or the nintendo wii, this game is fun regardless.

The single-player mode (along with a memory pack) can save ghost data so that you can essentially "race yourself" (or the best version of yourself) and thus improve your gameplay. While the big brother to this game is a bit overwhelming and a little more difficult (using two players on the cart instead of one) I firmly believe that this game is more fun and easier to pick up.

All you must do in this game is hold down the "a" button to thrust, steer, and use your items wisely. In classic Mario style, however, the person in last place always has an advantage because they get better items. So this game truly is for everyone because it tries to level the playing field for gamers and non-gamers alike.

Buy it and you won't regret it!

NEVER GETS OLD 9.5 OUT OF 10

This was the first real game I ever played along with the first I ever owned. Despite the fact that I've grown out of many kids games and spend my time focused on M-rated games with a lot of violence or sexual themes, this is one of those games I most definitely have not grown out of. I love the tracks, the weapons, the characters(Yoshi's my favorite), and simplely how much fun this game still delivers to this very day. The replay value is endless, and multiplayer is still very engaging(It's always fun to humiliate your friends at this game). This game is what got me started on games and it will continue to be one of my most memorable games in my life as a gamer.

A great game to play with your children. Older platform is not a barrier to fun.

I am speaking for all of those who never can never win in video games. My sister had bought Nintendo 64, and she had got this video game. Soon after, I was thinking maybe I should play one game just for fun. But this game drove me crazy! If I lost, i got crazy lol I kept on wanting to win! But of course, I never won lol. But my sister won, and she likes to play every now and then. I guess I am not the video game type, and I guess I'll never win lol But sometimes I try every once and a while. Even though I get fustrated, it's good to rent this game first. If you don't get fustrated (like i did) then you should definately buy it.

This game was kinda disapointing. I beat it the first day, and once you beat it, its no fun. The computer players cheat, too. If you hit one with any kind of shell, they quickly are right at your side again. Plus, computer players don't get shells. They only get the star and banana peals. When the computer players get struck by lightening, they go at the same speed as they did when they were big. Also, when they fall in the water or off a cliff (which hardly ever happens), they are quickly picked up, much quicker than the real players. I hope you find this review to be helpful. Don't buy this game!

A Definite Buy for Any Racing or Mario Fan

The previous incarnation of Mario Kart is a pipsqueak when compared to this. Mario Kart 64 is one of my favorite games of all time, even now. The graphics are impressive, the sounds very realistic, the play control simple and responsive, the fun factor is great. There is a lot of variety in the game play you can pick. It is also addictive, especially the multiplayer games. Even a great game like this has a few problems, though. There is a lack of game play modes on the 3-4 player matches, and there is a slow-down on the screen, all 4 screens. Practice matches would be helpful in teaching new players the rules of the road. There is another matter with the computerized players. As you play, they escape the full effect of being hit with certain things, letting them recover in an instant. As you get to the harder difficulty levels, they perform some godly feats, like going 20 kph after passing you, catching up to you without the use of items, etc. Otherwise, a must-buy!

I was hesitant to buy this one - but I'dheard good things, and they wre all true. I love this game. It's an all nighter. Best with 3-4 people.

A solid game.

Mario cart is a solid, entertaining racing game which is easy enough for people without much gaming experience, but not so simple that it will put the more hard core gamers to sleep. One of its strongest features is the versatility of the formats. It can accommodate up to 4 players, but it's still fun with only one.

Most people think video games are for kids, and while this one is suitable for children, the absolute difficulty of the later courses makes it a perfect party competition for the older crew. It supports four players, and has eight characters to choose from (Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Yoshi, DK, Wario, Bowzer). Each player has his/her own pro's and con's, but try them all out and find the best one for you. (me? BOWZER, BABY!)

Neat N64 game!

Graphics: 9/10 - Eye-catching, bold and pretty, Mario Kart 64's graphics are fulfilling and nice to look at.

Sound: 8/10 - Lots of bells, whistles, engines and da-da's in this game. They are just small sound, but bring out some sort of livelihood.

Value: 8/10 - Even though I don't have a Nintendo 64, if I did, I would probably buy this game because it is lots of fun to play. It can also be very strategic at times, which is good for a racing car game.

Overall: 8/10 - Nothing too memorable, but it's delightfully entertaining to play when you are actually using the controls. Mario Kart 64 gives you things to do and stuff to work out. It's the first game I played on Nintendo 64 and as far as I'm concerned, it's well worth the time.
